Aella was born as a mortal with a mortal family. But, her grandmother's mother is Ariadne. They are very rich, mortal family, in Turkey. Her father was a wealthy oil digger and her mother a supermodel, famous for just being famous. As a baby, Aella was watched over by nannies. When school came around, Aella was sent to the richest boarding schools in the world. Aella wasn’t happy. No matter was presents her parents gave her, it still couldn't make up for their absence. Though mortal, Aella was gifted, and could see through the mist.
She was only dragged out into the public when her mother got in trouble for drinking or her father looked bad on the political side. She was always popular in school, but it was always people who wanted her last name or money, or to get in on her father's good side. Her parents never celebrated her birthday, or even showed any affection for Aella. They ignored her, only shuffling out money to her whenever she called. She had a very lonely childhood, except for her grandmother, who lived with her parents in the capital city.
When she was a little girl, her grandmother would tell her stories about mystical beats and a magical town where people with special powers could live in peace. Of course, she was talking about camp half blood, but Aella didn't know that. When Aella's marriage was told to her, she prayed to Ariadne that she would protect Aella. Her grandmother had went to camp until she was around 19-ish, whn she went to Turkey and got married to Aella's grandfather who died of a heart attack 3 years before she was born. Her grandmother's home was next to a local market, before they had made their fortune, and it sold manure. Like, straight up camel, cow, and horse poop as chips for burning in fires. It covered up her sent well, and along with the fact she wasn't much of a threat added to her grandmother's case.
When Aella was 17, she had been kicked out of 5 different schools for reckless behavior. Aella started getting marriage proposals in the mail, over the phone, and even by a few of her father’s friend’s sons. Her parents arranged a man for her to marry at age 19, he was from a nice, rich, family and pure Islamic man. Aella extremely upset, and ran off when she heard the news, crying.
She ran out of the house and ended up in the back streets of a market in the poorer parts of Turkey. She came upon an abandoned shop. Inside she looked at the worn walls and saw something on the wall. It was a glowing blue, like it had been used recently. The door was there because in Greek days, the inventor himself had used one of the passages to get from Greece to Turkey to try and avoid Minos. He left Turkey, but the passageway stayed.
It was oddly shaped, but looked sorta like a delta. The mark of Daedalus. But, of course, she didn't know that. She touched it and ‘poof’, a door opened. Very curious, she wandered in and the door shut behind her.
She walked around, trying to find her way out, but couldn't. She just kept walking, following the paths she knew were right. She ended up in part of the labyrinth that had golden string on the floor. She followed the string, hoping to find a way out, but couldn't. Exhausted, alone and afraid, she lay down next to the string and got ready to die.
At this point, however, Ariadne spotted Aella near her string. She felt she had to do something and appeared to Aella in her dreams.
She introduced herself and Aella was shocked, of course, but very pleased. It explained all of the things she had been seeing since she was a small child. They had a lengthy conversation about who Aella was and what she was doing there. At the end of the talk, Aella expressed her hate for all of the people who had tried to marry her for power and not for her, and her arranged marriage. Ariadne understood what she was talking about, being the daughter of Minos and a princess. Pitying her, Ariadne offered Aella a chance for to be her priestess. Ariadne admired Aella for her honesty, and the fact that she wasn't afraid to express her feelings. She favored her for her morals and honesty. Aella accepted with great glee. Ariadne guided Aella out of the maze and sent her to camp to join the other priests and priestesses, where she is today.
