Alcina's father Salmanis was a showman. He owned a magic show in Los Vegas and performed often every night.
He was a son Hecate and learned his magic through the camp and his natural powers. One night, while performing, he called up a voulnteer from the crowd of people who came to see him.
It was a stunning women, with black hair and even deeper, beautiful eyes. Salmanis locked her in a box and set it on fire, from which she escaped. Everyone was blown away, but none more than The Great Salmanis.
After the show, they talked and he invited her to his home. After a few drinks and one game of beer pong, this came to that and the next morning, Nyx was gone, and pregnant with Alcina. Though he was heart broken, he still went on with his life, the thought of her being a goddess never crossing his mind (though to this day, he swears he thought about it)
9 months later, a little baby girl wrapped in a black blanket in a golden cradle appeared at his doorstep one night after his show. At this point, he realised that the women was a goddess and his daughter was a second generation demigod. (he noticed the cradle and remembered a friend of his at the camp was delivered the same way)
He realized that someday she would have to go to the camp to train and live and he decided to spend as much time with her a possible. Lucy was her given name, but in order to spend more time with her, Salmanis brought her to his shows and taught her show magic, so she chose the stage name Alcina, what she prefers to go by today.
The days and years went by and Alcina soon discovered the show of stage magic and performing. Alcina however, could see through the mist and sometimes saw monsters and other demigods she wasn't normally supposed to see. Her father noticed and decided that she should head to the camp sooner then he thought.
That night, she was attcked by a hell hound, at age 13. It shadow traveled into her room and barked loudly. Yelling, she fell out of bed and scrambled into her closet to avoid the beast. Her father heard her screams and rushed into her room. Alcina hid in the closet and covered her ears, tensing and waiting for death. Meanwhile, her father brought back his training and killed monster while she hid in fear.
A little while later, her father knocked on her closet and helped her out. She demanded to know what was going on, and he explained everything. His mother, her mother, the Greek god and monsters, and her seeing through the mist. He knew it was time to say goodbye to Alcina.
They packed her a few bags and they took a train to the airport and flew from Vegas to New York, the very next morning. Alcina and her father entered camp and he said goodbye, making a slient prayer to his mother Hecate to protect her and guide her in the right path, as well as Nyx, her mother, to help her as well.
Nothing could be stronger then his love for his only child, and the fact that she could be killed heightened the feeling of his love for her. Both Hecate and Nyx noticed this. After discussing for a while about what to do they decided on Alcina becoming Hecate's priestess. Hecate, on Alcina's first night, appeared to her in a dream and their conversation went like this;
Alcina: Who are you?
Hecate: I am your grandmother, Alcina. Your father has asked a favor of me.
Alcina: Did he ask to you to appear in my dreams and freak me out? Cause that's just not cool. At all.
Hecate laughed lightly and went on..
Hecate: Alcina, he asked me to protect you and to guide you in the right way. I intend to do so.
Alcina: This doesn't mean I'm going to military school am I? Hogwarts maybe?
Hecate: No, Alcina. I would like you to become my priestess
Alcina: Seriously?
Hecate: *smiles* Seriously.
Alcina: THAT'S SO FREAKING COOL!
Of course, Alcina accepted and when she woke up, she was claimed as a child of Nyx, and became the priestess of Hecate. Alcina trained, made some friends, and grew up and turning 17, where she is today.
