Penelope Lee loved Europe- she loved the food, the people and the culture. However, what drew her to those beautiful cities was the architecture. She examined the crooks of Spanish churches, admired the timbered walls and the dated windows. She was a millionaire who made a fortune from her hotel chain that rivaled Hilton and the Marriott. As a young women, she began her career when she started a bed & breakfast in a small town. As the town grew into a city because of new opportunities, thousands of people stayed at her lodging.
She wanted it all, she wanted the European style for herself so she started up her plans. She hired a talented architect named Thomas Mayhew, he was a son of Athena who had built glamorous castles and homes for celebrities. Penelope was inspired by the historical landmarks she visited in Europe which Thomas incorporated into the home. It was a beautiful castle-like mansion with hundreds of rooms, multiple bathrooms, a pool, tennis court, a garden, a zoo and more. It was a whimsical place for any person to visit. As she fell in love with her house, she fell in love with the son of wisdom.
They married and lived in the mansion, nicknamed 'Colina Hechizante' as it was built on a ginormous hill in California. From the place, one could see the beautiful shining waters of the Pacific Ocean. Visitors would need to fly in or ride up the bumpy hills. Penelope invited many of her famous friends and hosted grand parties that were rumored to be extravagant according to the tabloids. One night, one of her acquaintances brought a friend with them. His deep green eyes called out to Penelope as she wanted to know more about the mysterious man.
Hermes had always admired Penelope's work ethic as she worked her hotel chain from the ground up. It was no secret that not only was she successful, she was a beautiful and ambitious woman. When her guests went to Thomas' study to drink wine, Hermes whisked the beautiful mogul to one of her many bedrooms and made passionate love with her. Penelope enjoyed the night because Thomas never made her feel that way and was saddened when she was alone in the morning.
She went on with her luxurious life but the man was always going to be at the back of her mind, would she have divorced her husband for the man who made her yearn for his touch? Penelope was working one day in her house when she felt sick. Signs of pregnancy sprouted as her husband and her went to an appointment, confirming her fears that she did not know who the father was. Atticus Grey Mayhew was born in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California as many of Penelope and Thomas' relatives and friends congratulated the pair. Once Penelope looked into Atticus' chocolate eyes, she knew that Hermes was the father.
Atticus had an opulent childhood as a child of a hotel magnate and a famed architect. He would always walk around in his mansion or swim in their giant pool. He had big imaginations and would play hide and seek in their giant mansion with maids and butlers. When he was five, he heard his parents arguing about him. Earlier that day, a communication spirit arrived at their mansion and told Penelope about Atticus' tree parentage. Thomas felt betrayed that the boy he thought was his son wasn't from his own blood, but loved his wife and his son too much to leave. He went to private school with many other celebrity children and became popular for his charm and good looks. Atticus always got what he wanted whether that was another girl or a materialistic item. The media loved the Mayhew family when they went to events and girls over the world swooned over the son of Hermes. Atticus experienced his first monster attack at the age of 12 when he was walking around Carmel with his father. His father grabbed his hat which transformed into a celestial bronze sword and was astonished when he killed the creature. At home, their parents told him out his father and Atticus was angry and surprised. He had grew up knowing that Thomas was his father and it was just a lie and ignored his parents for a long time.
In high school, he found his true passion in English class. He loved to write novels about his own experiences and imaginations, he published his first novel called "The Trade Above" a historical fiction about imperialism in Africa under a pseudonym. His book went on the New York's Best Seller list for consecutive weeks. Thomas trained his son with sword fighting and defense skills to train him if he ever encountered a monster by himself. After graduating from high school, he went to college though Atticus knew it wasn't for him. Being trapped in a classroom setting was detrimental to his inspiration for writing so he left school after a few months which dismayed his parents.
He went on to travel around the world for two years while battling monsters that came his way to find inspiration for his works. After going to multiple countries, he was informed about Camp Half Blood, a place for demigods like him. He felt like this place would be a good setting for a new novel and went to Long Island.
