It has been brought to my attention, by Ghost, that after one of his last IP checks, Wikia warned him that they have been getting a high volume of ip checks from this wikia. His message was this:
- Please allow me to be honest for a moment: Calf Half Blood Roleplay wiki has requested a lot of CheckUsers in the recent weeks. A lot of these are fruitless and honestly seem, from my perspective, to be more "Big Brother" than truly based off solid evidence these users are connected. If the volume of Checkusers continues from Calf Half Blood, I'm afraid we're probably going to have to cut the wiki off of doing these checks. Rooting around in people's IP data is something we take seriously and should only do when needed.
- In other words, Use this request wisely!

I have messaged Wikia, in general explaining how because of our rules limiting number of characters per user, that we often run into people trying to use socks. However, I also know that many ip checks in the past have been run on users, who already from the get go, said that they were friends or siblings in real life. An ip check is rarely conclusive in most matters, sharing a single IP only means that at some point both accounts accessed wikia from the same internet.
In short, I'd like to try and get this so that ip checks are only being sent out by bcrats, if users feel there is users who should have one, please contact a bcrat, either myself, ghost or flame, to discuss if an ip check is pertinent.
I never do IP checks, but i think this is a great way to regulate the IP check traffic. Feelins'? Look mate, you know who has a lot of feelings? Blokes that bludgeon their wife to death with a golf trophy. Professionals have standards. - Sniper, From Team Fortress 2 21:16, January 25, 2012 (UTC) (IDK why i commented ._.)
Haha, that's ok Comic, but yea, I'd hate to lose the power to do IP checks, so we really need to be careful and only use it when we really have strong suspicions.
