Rick Perdita met Aphrodite at a Valentine's Day party in Manhattan a few years after Tacey was born, Rick brought no date, and Aphrodite was bored, and wanted a challenge, so she came down to the party, dressed in all white, hair perfect and lush, and seduced him. Rick didn't comply at first, but he eventually succumbed to her flirtatious remarks and slept with her; he impregnated her.
When Jessamine was born, Aphrodite saw that Rick could barely keep up with Tacey and he was already occupied with all the traveling, so Aphrodite, being accustomed to having her kids have the finer things in life, left Jessamine to a couple who were having trouble having a kid. Their names were Dean and Theresa Montclaire, Dean was a demigod; his father was Hades.
Jessamine was easily brought into the family. After having troubles conceiving for so long, they finally had a child, so they made sure to cherish her treat her well. It wasn't long before her new parents noticed their child having random spasms. Worried for her health, they took her to a hospital immediately. Jessamine was diagnosed with epilepsy, and from then on, her life got harder. Her parents kept a constant check on her, making sure things were okay, though they never really could tell how their daughter would be health-wise the next day.
Her childhood was very rough, because of her disease, she looked sickly and pale, always cursed with malaise that set her apart from other healthy children. She never did make any friends, and became a pariah, her parents being her only comforters. She honestly couldn't last a day without them.
She had maybe ten to fifteen seizures while in elementary school. With a disease so spastic and random, no one could ever tell how she'd be. She wouldn't allow her parents to homeschool her because she liked being with others in general, no one really talked to her.
A harpy attacked her when she was twelve. She was outside her house, playing with her cat, when a harpy came out from hiding and attacked it. It slashed at her with its sharp talons, causing her to shriek violently. Her parents were immediately alerting, figuring she had a seizure, but when they saw a hybrid of a bird of prey and a woman attacking their daughter, they completely freaked out. Her father was first to react. He took his swiss army knife out and attempted to jab at it. Luckily, it backed away, and took off.
Astounded by the supernatural attack, the Montclaires took to the internet to find some assistance for their situation. The Montclaires weren't dumb enough to seek federal help, as they're likely to be deemed psychotic or mad, so they turned to the stereotyped 'nutjobs' that blog and account for their experiences with the supernatural world.
Eventually they came in contact with man named Rick Perdita, he specialized in the wonders of Greek mythos and was on a hunt to find proof of the existence if monsters and the Greek gods. Coincidentally and unknowingly to the Montclaires, Rick's also Jessamine's biological father.
The Montclaires were told they bore the sight, a gift that only few mortals get, it allows spectacle into the Greek world, clearing the mist and giving the mortal glimpses of the supernatural. As the Montclaires were deeply fascinated and rich, they began to fund Rick, and assist him in his quest to find proof of the supernatural Greek world.
While her parents spent a lot more time with Rick, Jessamine found a friend of her own: Tacey Perdita. Tacey was always kind and genuine with Jessamine. She wasn't pretty, despite her heritage, her epilepsy caused acne, and weight gain, contrary to Tacey who always looked good, despite any circumstances. They became good friends, while Jessamine was journeying through the hell they call highschool.
As the Montclaires knew of the Greek world, and had the Perditas to defend them from its hazards, rather than send their precious daughter away, they kept her home, forcing her to go through school.
Jessamine's life in high school was probably the most sickening, transformative, and bittersweet experience in her whole life. The kids were disgustingly disrespectful of her condition, and even video taped her having a seizure, in which she urinated herself.
Jessamine never remembered her seizures, so she never really minded them, though now that she had an image of herself thrashing about and defecating herself, while the other kids mocked and ridiculed her was enough to push her off the edge. Luckily, this happened a day before winter break, the time span in which her powers, which were suppressed by her disease, finally kicked in.
She returned to school a totally new person. She was beautiful, and vengeful. She no longer bore a pale, acne-ridden face, she wasn't overweight, she didn't look sick at all. She looked renewed. Along with a new appearance, came a new personality. She was seductive, angry, filled with a lust for revenge, and she basked in every moment, because every pair of eyes was on her. The girl who changed.
She did lots of things she would never have the chance to do as her old self. She dated multiple guys, at the same time, flirted with other girl's boyfriends, dressed in a provocative styling, became a total new person, who finally decided to stop taking the world's crap, and was decided to throw it right back.
Her parents didn't react well to the sudden transformation, they thought she began taking some sort of illegal drug to suppress her disease, because even her seizures became dorment. Her parents being close to fanatics on the Greek world, turned to Rick for help, instantaneously assuming the cause of her sudden transformation was supernatural.
Rick didn't disagree with them. He went with the obvious choice and assumed she was a demigod, daughter of Aphrodite. He assumed her powers were being held back by her disease, keeping her from becoming stronger like other demigods. That was when he realized he was Jessamine's biological father.
All the signs were there. She had already bore a faint resemblance to Tacey and himself, but she looked almost exactly like the form Aphrodite took when they met, now that her powers have kicked in. He didn't want to break it to the Montclaires immediately, so he waited two weeks before telling them.
The day he told them was like no other, the Montclaires were completely flabbergasted. Considering the things they'd seen, they didn't exactly want to question Rick's claim, though they didn't immediately believe it.
Jessamine didn't take it as hard. Tacey was her first friend, and she was already like a sister to her, so she was actually a bit happy that she had an older sister to look up to. As for Rick, she saw him lots, and listened to him go off about his findings to her parents. She may never see him as her father, but she didn't really mind the idea of it.
After finishing high school, Tacey suggested to visit Camp, she'd been there for a long period of time. Jessamine took her suggestion into thought, and decided to go visit, just for the sake of a new scenery, which would then become her home, until she decides to leave for college.
