It was a warm spring day in Florida when Maya was met by the god of the North. Boreas had a meeting with Notus, hence why he was in such a hot area. Maya was a daughter of Notus, Boreas and Notus had a very serious argument so Boreas decided to get back at him by finding and raping Maya. She was taking care of her mother Hannah at the time, she had cried herself to sleep for the first few weeks after it happened. When the 20 year old woman found out she was impregnated by the god she hated so much, she had a mental breakdown. After a talk with Hannah, she decided to keep and raise the baby. She named him Lance, after an old crush she had at camp.
Lance grew up under the care of his mother and grandma, they had a fine amount of money. But the boy was always quite sick, since he was 2 his weak immune system made it so he'd always come down with colds and fevers. It even got to the point where Lance had to get homeschooling. He obviously felt very close to his mother and grandma, they took care of him and were all he had.
But by some miracle, he stopped getting sick around 11. This was the part where the son of frost went somewhat wild in his life, he began to hang out with local kids and would spend as much time as possible outside. He picked up surfing, which quickly became a passion for him.
2 years later, he was attacked by a harpy. His mother had the skills needed to easily slay the beast and escort her son to camp personally, even getting to see him claimed by Boreas. The young 13 year old only stayed for a year. But in that short time, he fell into a relationship with Lacy a daughter of Mnemosyne.
Since Lacy was very clingy, annoying and stalkerish. Lance dumped her a few months later, since Lacy was quite mentally unstable. She quickly killed herself in her room. Lance felt guilty about what happened and decided to leave camp, because everyone had blamed him for her death.
Mnemosyne shared this feeling, she pitied her daughter. So she cursed Lance, stripping him of his ability to read. Which would obviously make his life a struggle. Lance's mother deduced that this was what happened to her son.
He spent 3 years back at home, constantly reminded of Lacy's suicide and his curse. After surfing constantly, fending off monsters and dating a few girls. He returned to camp where he currently resides.
