AppearanceLi is 14 years of age, standing at 5'5, and weighing in at 89lbs. She has pale skin, dark brown eyes, and red-orange hair (naturally black). She usually wears Chinese lace blouses that she took with her from her homeland, along with black leggings or black jeans, high top Chinese converse shoes, and a China snapback.
Li is quiet, however she is not shy. She is brave and very courageous. She is confident but not cocky. She is smart, but not to the extent of a child of Athena. She feels more "alive" when fighting, but fears that she may become sadistic. She tries to fit in at Camp although she still holds onto her Chinese traditions. Fatal flaw: Her fatal flaw is that she is overly determined. She gets caught up in the moment and doesn't know when to quit, even when she has to. She will try to succeed even when there isn't the slightest chance of success. She wants to win, no matter what the cost.
Parents Meeting:Li Na was a soldier in the Chinese armed forces. She served with valor and had a very decorated career. She met Ares in Beijing while on leave and they immediately took a liking to one another. When they first met, Ares had convinced her of his true identity and she had believed him. The two had an affair and Ares informed her that he had to leave her. At first, she tried to change his mind. But she realized that it was impossible for him to stay and- being a soldier- understood that duty comes first. And Ares had duties of his own. Soon after he left, Li Na would discover that she was pregnant. She was immediately discharged and 9 months later she would give birth to Li Fang.
Early Life:Li Fang grew up in Beijing, in Northeastern China. Her family wasn't poor, however they weren't exactly loaded either. They were middle-class and lived in a small house. Whenever she asked about her father, her mother would say "Soon it'll all make sense." Li excelled in school and was one of the top students in her class. After school, she'd head straight for the martial arts academy. Actually, she went to three. She learned Kung Fu, Taekwondo, and Ninjutsu. She learned fast and would practice for most of the day. She didn't have many friends because she was always either practicing or studying. Her best friend was a boy named Andre. He was from New York. One summer afternoon, when Li was 11, she was walking home from school. She got home but heard a knock at the door. She opened it, but there was no one there, only a small box. She picked it up and brought it to her room, where she carefully opened it, finding a wrapped object. She unwrapped it, revealing a pair of hair chopsticks. They were black with a simple design. There was a note inside the box as well that read: "Ένα δώρο. Θα ξέρετε πότε να τις χρησιμοποιήσουν." She immediately understood what it said: "A gift. You will know when to use them." She didn't know how she knew Greek but she kind of liked it! At the bottom of the note it read: "Κρατήστε τους μαζί σας. Πάντα." (Keep them with you. Always.). Etched in one stick was Πόλεμος (Pólemos or War). Etched in the other was Ειρήνη (Eiríni or Peace). In Chinese, she called them Zhànzhēng and Hépíng. She didn't tell her mother. She put the sticks in her hair and tried to make sense of the note.
First Encounter Her first monster attack came when she was 13. She was hanging out with some friends at the park, her chopsticks woven into her hair. While she was chatting with two of her friends, she saw Andre standing about 20ft away- seemingly looking for someone. She went over and starting talking to him. "Oh there you are!" He said, obviously relieved. "Andre what is it?" she asked. "Your friends," he explained. He pointed behind her. Approaching them were her two friends. "Yeah, what about them?""Look," he said urgently. She looked again and suddenly the girls were not girls- but ugly green ladies with two serpent tails instead of feet. "Scythian Dracaena!" Andre told her. One of the monsters went after Andre- the other half slithered, half walked over to Li. It was armed with a CB sword which it held with both hands. Li was unarmed. She was a practitioner of 3 forms of martial arts. Her only option was obvious. Using Ninjutsu, she managed to dodge multiple attacks; A slash here, a jab there. Finally, she made her move. When the dracanae slashed at her vertically, she sidestepped- grabbing the dracanae's left arm with her right hand- and stepped closer. Using her other hand, she grabbed the dracanae's left hand (which was holding the lower hilt). Setting her leg in between the monster's "legs", she flipped it onto its back. Still holding its left arm, she bent it backwards into an arm trap. When it released the sword in pain, she snatched it up and rose, holding the sword with both hands. Furious, the monster lunged at her. As it went airborne, Li rolled under it. It turned and ran at her, howling curses. Li quickly turned with the dracanae, hooking her arm around its neck in a chokehold. She took the opportunity to stab the monster in the gut with its own sword, then let it crumple to dust. Andre finished off his dracanae and together they fled the park. At Li's house, Andre explained everything to her and revealed that she is a demigod. He also revealed that he was a satyr. He told her about Camp Half Blood, but she was reluctant to go. Li didn't want to leave China and she didn't want to quit her training. He assured her that he wouldn't force her to go if she didn't want to, but that more monsters would come as she aged. He also said that he would still be protecting her and she could choose to go to camp at any time.
Getting To Camp:When Li was 14, she moved to Shanghai. She still took all the same martial arts, just at different schools. Her mom had found a new man, Zhan Tao. He hated Li, partially because she was a child born from one of Li Na's previous affairs. He physically abused her and she was trying to run away. She had her backpack stuffed with clothes. Everything regarding monsters however, had been normal since the Dracanae incident until now. She was riding her bike down a semi-busy street when she saw the first one. She thought she was going crazy but she knew better than that. Then she saw the other two. Three giant scorpions stood on a side street. But they weren't after her. They were fighting two demigods and Andre, snapping at them with their pincers and thrusting their stingers. Of course, one of the monstrosities noticed her and scuttled over a couple of cars until it stood right in front of her. Once again facing danger with no weapon and now none that she could disarm, she resorted to evading. However, she began to tire, and when she moved too sluggishly the beast smacked her aside with one of its strong pincers. She rose slowly and stood to face her death. The scorpion was poised, ready to sting. But before it could, something finally dawned on Li. The strange note. She finally understood. She was wearing the hair chopsticks and now she pulled them out. She held Pólemos in her left hand, Eiríni in the right. The sticks suddenly morphed into matching Katanas, their names etched into the black hilts. And with all feelings of fear absent from her mind, she charged the beast. She ducked under a pincer, sidestepped the stinger, and flipped over the other pincer. Still running, she slid under the scorpion, slicing its only weak spot- its soft underside. As she stepped out from underneath it, she began to walk away without even turning back. As the scorpion was dying, it turned and lunged with its stinger. As it fell, its stinger reached Li and stuck into her right calf. Her katanas were already in chopstick form and woven back into her hair. She screamed. Then, Andre came running, calling her name. He sliced the stinger off and she immediately fell, blacking out. When she woke up she was in some kind of battlefield hospital. "Where am I?" she asked, her voice frail and pained. "Camp Half-Blood," Andre answered. "Welcome to New York!" Her calf throbbed and the entire leg felt as if it had been torched by a flamethrower, not stung by a scorpion. "How did you...". "It was nothing," he assured her. "We were just lucky enough to have a large stock of nectar and ambrosia with us. We gave you as much as we could. Fortunately, it was enough to counter the poison." Due to her very basic understanding of the English language, it took her a moment to understand what he had said. "Thank you" she said. "How did we get here?" Andre answered, "We road pegasi back to camp. Headed east so we took a short break in Honolulu." None of it made sense to Li. But that didn't matter. She ignored the pain. She was alive.
Her primary weapons are her matching celestial bronze katanas: Πολεμος (Pólemos/War/Zhànzhēng) and Ειρήνη (Eiríni/Peace/Hépíng). When dormant, they turn into black hair chopsticks with a simple pattern.
