Jeff Hailey was a gardener at a research university. He met Rosie (Demeter) at the greenhouse. The two connected quickly and had a lot in common. The gardened together for a little bit. Jeff asked her if she would like to go to a garden convention. She accepted.
The two dated for a few weeks. Then weirdly Rosie disappeared. Jeff was sad because he'd loved Rosie. A four months later. Jeff found a basket full of flowers and a...baby. Jeff was shocked. What was this baby doing here? He brought the basket inside and saw a note.
Dear Jeff,
This is Marie-Ann. Our child. Please take good care of her. I have business to do somewhere else. I will always love you.

Marie-Ann childhood was pretty normal. Her father was still a gardener at the research university. Her grandmother took care of her on weekdays. Marie-Ann loved her Grandmother so much they gardened together and baked cookies a lot.
But her school days were not as good. She had ADHD and dyslexia. So school was pretty hard for her. The teachers never noticed her condition and barely helped her. So when she was 10 years old Marie wanted to be homeschooled. Marie's grandma said she will homeschool since her dad wouldn't have time to school her.
One day while 13 year-old Marie-ann was working on her garden a blonde women saw Marie-Ann gardening. The women knocked on the fence. Marie went to open the fence door.
“Hi, I’m Brenda and I saw you gardening I thought I could give you little advice.”
Marie was a little puzzled. “Um, OK..”
The woman's eyes were… yellow. That was really strange for Marie.
“Maybe I suggest not screaming.” Brenda said, flashing her sharp teeth. Marie backed up slowly. Brenda ran so fast to Marie.
“I promise this won’t hurt.”
Marie ran so fast to her house and locked the door.
“Come on, honey, just open the door for me.” Brenda said fake smiling.
Marie shook her head no.
Brenda Frowned. "Aww, why not-"
All of a sudden Brenda froze and then burst into dust. Behind her was a browned hair boy. Marie was so confused. She was going to ask who he was but he quickly ran away.
A few weeks later it was the day of Marie’s 14th birthday. Her dad was finally off and her grandma came to visit. She had a small birthday party with cake and little presents. She was happy and forgot all about Brenda and the weird boy. She invited her only friend, Don. Who was her neighbor. Don was a little weird and somewhat protective of Marie.
After the party, she decided to garden a little. Then overhead was 2 white large birds. Marie looked up at the birds flying above. One landed on the fence. It flew to Marie but she quickly ducked.
Don came out of Marie’s house and saw the birds and started playing a weird tune on a flute. They hated the sound and flew away. Marie asked lots of questions. Like, What are those birds. Why were playing that flute thing. Don went to the kitchen where maire's dad was doing the dishes. Don told what happen and about camp half-blood and such. Marie's dad thought he was crazy and told him to go to a mental institution. Don finally pulled down his pants to show he was a saytr. Marie's dad told her to pack a bag.
Marie packed a small backpack. After that Maire's dad drove them to Long Island. In the taxi Don explained more about, gods, demigods and how Don was a satyr and Camp Half-Blood. Marie was speechless and thought about how cool that was. Her dad stopped at beautiful entrance to Camp Half-Blood. Maire said bye to her dad and the two got of the taxi walked through the border. She was 14 when she got to camp.
