Pearl Abalone Daughter of Poseidon Owned by: DemigodSwan
Pearl is a very considerate girl. She always tries to do what's right, even if it means breaking the rules. Although she has been hardened by her years of monster attacks, so she is known to be able to hide her emotions. She also has very good instincts.
Lily Abalone met Poseidon when she was taking a walk near the beach at her house on Long Island, New York. She fell for him immediately, as he did her. She could not see through the Mist, so she did not know who he truly was. They had a great time sitting on the beach, swimming, and (oddly enough) bowling (?!). After they had been together for a few months, Poseidon just left one day, and never came back, and she was pregnant, alone, and distraught. She had no idea where he had gone, and she didn't know why he left. The only thing Poseidon gave her was a hairpin, which he said to give to their child, saying that it would protect her. Almost a year later, baby Pearl was born on March 31st, and of course was given the hairpin. From then on, she took it everywhere with her, though she wasn't sure yet what it's purpose was.
Pearl was a very loved child, and she and her mom had many fun times together, the best of which were many trips to the beach. Pearl knew how to swim from the age of 4. At age 6, Pearl started first grade, where she was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia (like most demigods). There was no trouble with monsters that year. At the beginning of third grade, at age 9, however, Pearl met her first monster. It was her science teacher, who turned out to be a harpy. Pearl was nervous. She didn't know what to do. She took out her hairpin and started fiddling with it because, since she had ADHD, she liked to keep moving. She had pressed down on the center circle of the design when all of a sudden, Pearl was holding a bronze sword! Pearl let the harpy come at her, then when the harpy got close, she struck it down with her sword, and the monster disintegrated. She couldn't figure out how she knew how to use he sword, but it was instinctive. Pearl got kicked out of school that year for punching an innocent teacher (?!?!?!).
Pearl repeated this routine for the next years of school. She met another harpy in fourth grade, but she managed to kill it with her sword (now named High Tide). A Scythian dracaena came in fifth grade. Pearl lured it over to the playground, where the other kids were bunched up, giving Pearl an opportunity to sneak around it and stab it in the back. Pearl met a telekhine in sixth grade, but it was slow and easily cut with her sword. She met a giant scorpion in seventh grade. This one was hard, since it was so big. Pearl managed to bring in into a small, empty classroom, where the giant scorpion could barely move, and she stabbed it in the stomach. The worst was the flock of Stymphalian birds in eighth grade. Pearl was lucky she paid attention to her Greek myths, and she knew the way to defeat the birds was with music. So (after a long time) Pearl managed to get the birds to the Music wing of her school, and they disintegrated. That was all great. But then, at the end of her ninth grade school year, at age 15, two fire breathing horses showed up. Pearl managed to kill them with her sword, but not before one of them hit her on the shoulder with its hoof. She salas he'd it to dust right after it hit her, but it still hurt really bad. She ran home, thinking that her mother would know what to do.
When she arrived at home, she explained to her mom everything that had happened in all her years of school (she hadn't told her mother because she was afraid her mother would think her insane). Her mother took on a sad look as Pearl told the story. "What's wrong?" asked Pearl. Her mother responded, "Your father warned me this would happen. He said that if you ever came home and started saying strange things, that I should send you to this summer camp at 3.141 Farm Road. I wish I didn't have to. Please, just go pack your stuff." Pearl wondered why her mother was so sad, it was just a summer camp. But she knew that if she asked, she wouldn't get an answer. Her mother had that look on her face that meant she was somewhere else, thinking about memories, and there was no use trying to bring her back to the present. So Pearl went to pack her stuff. When she came back down, she and her mother got into the car. After about fifteen minutes of driving, they arrived at the base of a large hill. The hill had a big pine tree on top. "Well," said Pearl's mom, "this is the place. Good luck, honey. I love you!" Pearl didn't understand why her mother was wishing her luck, but she kissed her mother good bye, got her stuff, and walked up the hill.
As she reached the top, Pearl was amazed. There were Ancient Greek buildings, but they were still intact. There were so many kids, all wearing jeans and orange shirts. Pearl wasn't sure where to go first, but then she saw an adult waving her over from the porch of a blue house. She walked over to meet him. When Pearl arrived at the house, she shook the man's hand, and he introduced himself as Alexander the Great. Then he asked her name, and she introduced herself. Then he told her to come inside the building, so her could explain what was happening to her. That sounded nice, so Pearl went inside. Pearl, at age 15, is having her third day at camp. She has settled into the Poseidon cabin.
Children of Poseidon can fire a powerful blast of water with high pressure, the equivalent to that of a powerful fire hose.
Children of Poseidon have the ability to conjure a weapon out of water which can be used for combat; however, only one weapon can be conjured at a time and it cannot be bigger than the one who conjured it. They can also make small non-combative objects out of water.
Children of Poseidon can densify the water pressure in their own bodies, hardening their muscles and skin to the point where they are immune to physical attacks for a short time.
Children of Poseidon can innately breathe and heal slightly faster underwater.
Children of Poseidon can keep themselves and everything they touch dry in the water, unless they choose to become wet.
Children of Poseidon can make air bubbles form under water, some large enough to contain allies and sustain them for a moderate time before popping.
Children of Poseidon can survive falling from high altitudes as long as they land in water, they can also go as deep into the ocean as they desire without any effects from the water pressure.
Children of Poseidon have the ability to create minor earthquakes, only large enough to knock anyone in the immediate vicinity of the user off their feat, and only for a few seconds.
Children of Poseidon have the ability to Water Travel, a sort of teleportation; the further the distance, the more is energy drained, and there must be a substantial amount of water at both ends.
Children of Poseidon are able to telekinetically move water at a high rate. The larger amount of water used, the more energy it drains.
Children of Poseidon are able to summon and telepathically command equestrian animals, such as horses, giraffes, zebras and hippocampi. They can also do the same with all animals that dwell in the sea, the more animals summoned and the bigger they are. The more energy is drained.
Children of Poseidon can create the octopus form, a body of water formed around the user into a protective barrier of water with eight or so whip-like limbs which can be used to grasp or strike an attacking opponent or to intercept and seize incoming projectiles. The longer this form is maintained, the more energy is drained.
3 Months After Character is Made
Children of Poseidon can summon a tidal wave of up to 25-feet tall, which can not harm them. The tidal wave could injure an opponent and give the user a chance to flee.
6 Months After Character is Made
Children of Poseidon are able to transform into horses while out of the water, or hippocampi while in the water, for short times, the longer they remain in the form, the more energy it drains and the more time they need to rest between transforming.
9 Months After Character is Made
Children of Poseidon are able to transform their bodies into a state of pure water for a short time, during this they are immune to attacks. The hydrokinetic abilities they already possess are enhanced by this state. the user will be extremely drained once the transformation ends. Unable to move and could possibly faint.
Children of Poseidon always know their exact coordinates when in water and are able to innately feel the difference between freshwater and saltwater.
Children of Poseidon normally have a love for water, and generally excel at water sports.
Children of Poseidon tend to be favored by animals of the sea.
Children of Poseidon often have a natural affinity for horses and many grow up to become equestrians.
