History Before Camp
Before Scott was born, his mother lived in Edinburgh, Scotland. She was a smith in the town, and despite being insulted by the other ladies in the town for doing a "man's job", she worked hard in a forge repairing things such as jewelry and making weapons for museums to display. One day, a man showed up at her forge asking to repair the chain on his pocket watch. She repaired it extremely fast, and the man looked impressed. When she handed the chain, they looked into each others eyes, sparking the fires of their relationship. After a few months of dating, they move to Colorado in the U.S.A, where Allison gives birth to Scott. After he's born, the man (using the fake name John), reveals he's truly Hephaestus. Allison is shocked, but eventually gets used to it. Hephaestus explains to her that their newly born son, Scott, is a demigod and will soon be a great blacksmith for him. The next day, Hephaestus has mysteriously disappeared, leaving a small basket of celestial bronze ingots for forging, and a note to teach Scott how to work a forge and a P.S. saying that "send him to camp when he makes his blade". It also mentions that "trust the centaur you see in an Iris message".
At age 8, Scott's mother shows him the forge. Wearing a welding mask, Scott looks at the place in amazement. The materials, the tools, the burning furnaces. It was heaven. Allison finally let Scott make his first item, a little brass spoon. With his mother guiding his hammering arm, he stared at his creation with amazement. He ate his dinner with it that night, proud of it. He then washed it, and put it in a tiny display case in his room. From there on, he created all kinds of things: silverware, jewelry, and even small daggers. He would go to the forge every morning and night, and even though all the kids at school made fun of him from being covered in smoke and dirt from the forge, he was still happy and full of pride. At age 13, one morning, Scott asked his mother if he could make his one true dream: a sword. She drops her coffee. The time has come. As soon as Scott strikes the tip of his sword with a hammer, he's going to camp.
Scott worked for hours in the forge. Allison told him to use the celestial bronze, lying that it was just "a brass and bronze alloy". After making the weapon, Scott shows his mom the sword: a Scottish Claymore. Allison nearly cries from the item's beauty, and knows that she must tell Scott. She explains to him everything: Gods, Demigods, Monsters, and that the blade he's holding is made of the godly metal, celestial bronze. Scott nearly laughs at first, thinking she's just messing with him, but then he sees the serious look in his mother's eyes. Scott understands it's true. His mother pulls out some sort of gold coin (a drachma) and throws it into a faint rainbow she made with sink water and some light. She recites some form of chant, and a magical video message appears. A man is in the message. Scott thought he was seeing things, but the man was an old man on the top, but his bottom was a horse. Scott's mother tell the centuar to pick up Scott. Scott asks how she knows him, and Allison says he's a conselour at camp that she knows because the note left by Hephaestus after Scott was born told her to "trust the centaur you see in an Iris message". About an hour later, things that are thought to be horses are heard outside. His mother tells him he's going to Camp Half-blood, and that he needs 3 things: his sword, his family shield (a small targe with the Macdiarmid clan crest painted on the front), and the love of his mother. Scott cries. He and his mother head outside, Scott thinking he needs glasses from the fact that 2 white pegasi are outside pulling a chariot. He steps inside the chariot with a demigod escorter, and a satyr. Scott asks "what the heck are you?". The satyr snarls and moans, "I'm a satyr, and you're a person who doesn't know his Greek creatures." Scott, feeling slightly confused by being insulted by a goat man, waves goodbye. They explain the demigod is good with pegasi, and the satyr is good at navigating the skies. Scott weeps in the back of the chariot, but soon stops when he hears the cries of something strange: monsters.
A giant dragon-like creature swoops past the chariot and roars with anger. The pegasi are going crazy, while the demigod is panicking, trying to keep them under control. Scott asks with fear, "Is that a dragon?!". The satyr staggers to say, "N-no... it's worse... it's an Aethiopion Drakon". "An egg-smiling European dragon?", Scott says with confusion. "NO!", the satyr yells, "A drakon! It's much worse than that!". The chariot is nearly knocked off course with the drakon smacking it with it's wings. The escorters attempt to do something, but the demigod is busy keeping the pegasi on course while the satyr is panicking and too freaked out to do anything because he forgot his wooden club. With the chariot tossing back and forth, Scott is scared, but knows something must be done. He steps to the front of the chariot, and draws his sword. The escorters look at him like he's insane, "What are you doing?!". "Saving your lives...." Scott says calmy. A 13 year old vs. a drakon? Suicide! However, Scott is brave. He fends off the drakon with his claymore, and dodges the monster's jaws. The monster finally snaps at his arm, and Scott screams in pain, and falls over. On the rim of the chariot, the escorters try to help Scott, but the drakon scares them back. The drakon opens his mouth wide, ready to eat Scott, but then there's a stroke of luck: Scott leaps to life, bashes the drakon's jaws with his family's shield, and gives a hard swing with his claymore onto the drakon's face. The beast roars in pain, and begins to lose altitude. It's face dripping with a greenish monster blood, the drakon falls from the sky, and disappears into clouds. The drakon didn't die, but Scott was able to damage it enough so it would leave them alone. The escorters look at Scott in amazement, but in fear. Drained of his energy and his arm starting to bleed, Scott blacks out in the chariot. Scott soon wakes up in a sort of hospital, but it doesn't look modern. He notices weird things: ancient greek architecture, kids running around with cups of some sort of nectar , and his taste buds feel the strange flavor of ambrosia. This must be the mysterious Camp-Half Blood.
Scott, being a Son of Hephaestus, used his mechanical skills to create a pet: an automaton dog. He named the dog Wallace, after the famous Scottish hero, William Wallace. He usually calls him Wally for short. Scott's dog has abilities such as being able to turn his paws into razor-sharp spikes and can sharpen his metal teeth to use as weapons in battle. He acts as a faithful companion to Scott, and is very friendly to most demigods. He's also very protective of Scott, being programmed to keep Scott alive at all costs. If he's ever destroyed, Scott can simply take his hardrive out of his destroyed body, and re-program it into a new body in about a week so that Scott may have his companion once again.

Quests Been On
Children of Hephaestus have the ability to create and control fire; however, it is extremely chaotic and will burn anything near it no matter the intention of the child of Hephaestus. They can shoot fireballs, streams of fire and coat weapons in flame. The more fire summoned and controlled, the more energy is drained.
Children of Hephaestus can become resistant to all types of physical attacks for a short time.
Children of Hephaestus are able to create a wall of stone, no larger than 2 to 3 times the size of the user, to temporarily block attacks
Children of Hephaestus are innately extremely resistant to heat and fire.
Children of Hephaestus are innately stronger and faster than others.
Children of Hephaestus possess an ability to instantly understand how to use and wield any weapon they possess with no training beforehand.
Children of Hephaestus have the ability to release heat from their hands in order to cauterize an open wound.
Children of Hephaestus are able to create a smoke screen that suffocates and hinders enemies for a short time, using it to either escape or do one sneak attack
Children of Hephaestus have the ability to control a single mechanical object with their mind; doing so, however, immobilizes the child of Hephaestus until control is broken. This only works on objects mechanically controlled, not objects controlled by magic.
Children of Hephaestus can telekinetically move weapons under their own possession and use. They can move up to 3 large weapons at a time, such as swords, axes and hammers. Or up to 10 small weapons such as throwing stars, knives and caltrops. The longer weapons are telekinetically held, the more energy is drained.
3 Months After Character is Made
Children of Hephaestus have the ability to curse an opponent’s weapons, armor and shields, make it softer, somewhat fragile or even rusted. This would last for a short time and make it easier for the user to attack. They can also repair weapons and armor with a thought and enchant weapons/armor to perform/defend against twice the amount of damage for a short time.
6 Months After Character is Made
Children of Hephaestus are able to summon a humanoid automaton to fight for them for a short time, the automaton cannot be bigger than 2-3 times the size of the user. It may possess one weapon of the user’s choice and will take a basic appearance of a Greek soldier, but the user can customize their armor or facial appearance. The automaton will have no special abilities other than it’s strength, stamina and endurance. ( No powers over Electricity, Magnetism, Flight. etc) The user however has a hard time moving while the automaton is present. The automaton will follow any command of the user, after a short time the automaton will crumble and fall apart. The user will be left quite drained.
9 Months After Character is Made
Children of Hephaestus can transform their bodies into pure metal for a short time, making them stronger and far more durable. They can also shift and transform parts of their body into weapons in this state. They also have the option to add an incredible amount of heat to their metal form, doing this would make the transformation even more draining than before. Choosing to become molten metal means the user burns anything they touch, enhancing their offensive abilities. Once the transformation is complete, the user is incredibly drained. Even moving wouldn’t be possible for a long time and they could possibly faint.
Children of Hephaestus are known for making great mechanics and blacksmiths. Able to make, upgrade and repair all sorts of weapons, machines and devices including automatons, armor and transforming weaponry.
Children of Hephaestus normally grow up to be excellent sculptors, stonemasons, architects, construction workers, carpenters and woodworkers.
Children of Hephaestus normally feel comfortable in forges and other warm areas, making them great fire-fighters and volcanologists.
General & Misc Info
Scott MacDiarmid is a strong-hearted person like most Scotsmen. He's very brave and loyal despite his age, and is willing to sacrafice his own life to preserve others. He may be young, but has a real fire burning within him, and can be difficult to face in combat. He can be known to be pretty annoying though, and usually shows natural aggression to Hunters of Artemis.
