Urban Arena

Urban arena
  • This arena is essentially a small abandoned city, overgrown with vegetation and some of the buildings crumbling in decay.
  • Located in the middle of the arena is a small abandoned park, with a pond
  • This arena has all the typical things you'd find in an abandoned overgrown city, everything from flat surfaces to small buildings to tall skyscrapers, some crumbling, some still standing, lots of dark places to hide, including an underground subway tunnel. There are abandoned cars, and things can still be found within the buildings, perhaps even a few stray cats or dogs, or some smaller creatures such as rats and spiders.
  • The arena is open to the sky and elements
  • This arena also possesses a more rural arena, possessing large mansions, estates and houses.

Strike scowls. He is wearing no armor other than a tattered jacket. Around his wrist is a rubber band, his crossbow in disguise. At his side hangs a hunting knife. Finally, underneath his jacket he hides his special amulet, one that allows limited shadow travel (about 5 meters). I postulate, based on your pompous and disrespectful demeanor, that you are one of those odious campers. You take after your parents in that regard.

Adrian Cowl: Lets get this over with I have better things to do. Charges and swings his sword chest high.

Strike: In one smooth motion Strike removes the rubber band from his wrist, stretches it until it transforms, and uses the crossbow limbs to block the sword. He shoves the blade away and jumps backward, trying to put distance between himself and Adrian.

Adrian: Oh no, you're not getting away that easily. Runs after him and draws his knife.

Strike: Predictable. Strike escapes to the shadow of an empty building and disappears. One shadow travel takes him to the second story window. He takes aim with his crossbow and fires.

Adrian: Uh-Oh ducks inside the building. hides around a corner.'

Strike: Strike smiles; things are going better for him than he expected. Still on the second floor, he turns toward one of the building's few still intact columns and focuses a beam of intense light on it. Within a few seconds the old, rotten, wooden column catches fire it creaks under the weight of the roof. Quickly, Strike cuts off the beam and forms an ax out of light. He swings the ax at the column and under the combined pressure of the roof, the weakening by fire, and the blade of the ax, the column gives; the second floor roof caves in but Strike shadow travels to the outside of the building. The shock of the fall (and the spreading fire), weaken the supports of the building's first floor. It will clearly fall within thirty seconds. That's the end of that I suppose. Strike is already breathing hard from using so many powers.

Adrian: runs out of the collapsing building. Is that all you've got? Holds up his weapons.'

Strike: Strike does not respond, clearly tired from using too many powers too quickly. I guess I should have paced myself; I didn't think you could survive that. Strike draws his knife.

Adrian:strikes at him with his sword while swiping at him with his sword. Yeah well, maybe you should've paced youself.

Strike: Strike tries to block the attack with his hunting knife, but it only glances off to the side a bit and cuts a fresh gash in his jacket, drawing blood. Strike is thrown to the ground.

Adrian| holds the sword is held to his throat. Give up, you've overworked yourself and didn't think to train yourself for a duel like this.

Strike: He grits his teeth. Maybe I was too busy surviving by myself in the wilderness. His voice rises. Maybe I was too busy trying in vain to stop my best friend from dying while your deplorable parents sat around and drank nectar. He is shouting now. Maybe I was too busy trying to change the world for the better! He calms himself and even cracks a grin. Or maybe I was too busy learning strategy. With those words he melts into the very shadow Adrian was casting over him. Unfortunately, the only shadow within five meters is behind a nearby sign, clearly visible from where Adrian stands, but behind him. Strike is still on the ground.

Adrian: looks around and turns to face him. walk away, you can't win. come back after you train yourself. otherwise it will end badly. I don't wanna kill another demigod.

Strike: You don't want to kill another demigod? There's another factor that sets us apart. He climbs to his feet. You see, unlike you, I have what we call, "perspective." I've seen the world on fire. I've felt the pain first hand. The gods have the power to extinguish the flames, but what do they do? Nothing! It's time for the demigods to step up, as the ultimate race, and take the world for our own. If a few of our number stand between us and dousing the flames of suffering... well, you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. Strike fires his crossbow, but he intentionally aims over Adrian's head as a diversionary tactic, and follows up with a focused beam of light, aimed directly at Adrian.

Adrian: Rolls out of the way. You think that's ok? The Gods can't interfere in mortal affairs except for us to be born. We are a bridge between the two worlds. We don't need to stand above the mortals but to protect them. What would you do if your family were attacked? Wouldn't you want to protect them? That's what we're here for. To protect mortals and to serve the gods. runs and swips at the crossbow.'

Strike: The crossbow is yanked out of Strike's hand. He backs up quickly. Oh really? Who exactly do you think makes the rules about what the gods can do, and since when have rules kept the gods from doing anything? Oh that's right, since whenever breaking the rules doesn't expressly benefit them! As for my family, to whom do you refer? Do you mean the selfish gods, or the worthless humans? Why would I protect either of them? I've denounced them both! Strike attempts to blind Adrian with a flash of light, then slashes at him with his knife.

Adrian: Covers his eyes and backs up. Then to protect the innocents I have no choice. Before you all become like the gods you claim to hate we will win. Strikes the knife and throws a strike midcenter.'
