Tula's father Darren met her mother at a music festival that was bringing stuff back from the 70's. They were both reaching for the same record, when their hands touched. This came to that, and after partying all night, Tula was conceived. The next day, Darren woke up and his mystery girl was gone. He was saddened terribly. He returned home to his farm.
9 months later, Tula was delivered by the West Wind, in a golden cradle to her father's footstep. ((That's how it was in the books, Not sure if okay or not?)) Darren was pleased, thinking that Tula was dropped off at his farm, as many people dropped their infants at door steps around the area. He took Tula in and Tula grew up on the farm, listening to records, doing chores, and getting homeshooled by Darren. She was fine. She wasn't a major threat and was basically in the middle of nowhere, so she didn't have an issue with monsters early.
Tula began to meditate, and learned to enjoy nature, LOVE it basically. The thing she loved most were the flowers, and all of the colors. She began to make dyes and paints with flowers, roots, and berries. She enjoyed paint all the colors and flowers in her free time.
When Tula was 12, it was the time limit for her to stay safe in the mortal world with no training. Darren found a small note taped to their door telling just that. He chose to play it safe, and train Tula. They didn't have the equipment, but he taught her to throw knifes and basic combat. Tula was strong from her chores on the farm, and nothing had happened so far, so it seemed she would be okay.
They were wrong.
When Tula was 13, she had her first real monster attack. It was a Hell Hound. Tula was hauling some hay stacks into the horse's stables when the horses freaked out and became spooked. Then, Tula heard a low growl. She turn quickly, and saw two eyes glaring at her. Tula's instincts took over and she sprinted. She ran half way across the farm until the Hell Hound finally caught up, and jumped on her. Tula fought, but she could hold her own against a hell hound. Suddenly, The Hell Hound was struck from behind, and it crumpled back to the Underworld. Tula blinked and looked up. Darren stood with a pitchfork gleaming. It was Celestial Bronze. Darren helped Tula up and fussed over her, before telling her how he got the pitchfork. He had heard the comotion and ran into the stables. He couldn't find Tula, so he panicked and grabbed the closest thing next to him, a pitchfork. (Tula's mother manipulated the metal to form the Celestial Bronze.) They both looked at the pitchfork, and realized it was back to plain old wood and metal.
The next day, on the day of Tula's 14th birthday (Or Storkday, as Darren called it) there was another note posted onto their door. It had the directions and address to Camp Half Blood. It was a long trip from their farm in Wisconsin, but Darren knew he could trust it because of what had happened the other day. So, Tula packed her bags and took a two-seater plane to New York.
The city was very overwhelming for Tula. When she walked around it was just too much. Too many lights and colors and sounds, and people too. She had never seen more people in one place in her life. Thankfully, the taxi cab driver knew the address (he had taken people there before) and dropped her off as far as the dirt road. She followed the path until she reached the hill. She went in, and, well, the rest is history.
