Personality

Tyen is shy at first, but more outgoing when he gets to know you. He is devoted to those he cares about and would die for them. He is easily manipulated but cunning. He has fanatical hopes about love, as he hasn't had many girlfriends. Tyen can become a bit moody at times, and is easily offended. He is usually cheerful, but if he is sad, he will be very sullen.

History

Tyen's mortal father Herluf had a low-paying job at a factory in downtown Boston. He was a part-time author that wrote three books. One day, he was assigned a partner in work named Sabrina Wess, who was actually Hecate in disguise visiting Boston for an Apollo Robinson show. The two fell in love and Herluf invited Sabrina to stay at his apartment. Sabrina agreed. Eventually, Sabrina acidentally told Herluf about her being an Olympian, her being extremely drunk after a night of partying at a local bar. She demonstrated with a small fireball emitted from thin air. Two weeks later, Herluf came home from work, and Sabrina had vanished. In her place was a small baby boy in a wicker basket, a curved sword and dagger, and an enchanted map to Camp Half-Blood that shows the user's location with Sabrina's writing at the bottom saying "when the time is right."

Tyen was born January 1, 7th, 2000, in Boston MA. He was an early learner, and gave his first words at age two. He lived a mostly normal life. At age four, he was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. Monsters kept away from him for a substantial amount of time. He was transfered to a larger school in the Back Bay at age ten due to "inappropriate conduct", even though he didn't mean to stab the teacher with his pencil. Tyen was bullied horribly throughout elementary and went to high school with relatively good grades.

His Olympian heritage was hidden from him until he was twelve, and Tyen believed that his mother had died during childbirth. Tyen was twelve when a monstrous scorpion attacked him unexpectedly one morning. He was eating breakfast at his kitchen table when the window behind him burst open and a giant scorpion twice the size of him scuttled onto the floor. He screamed and threw his butterknife, harmlessly bouncing off its hide. He leaped up onto the table, then to the countertop where he drew a cleaver from his dad's cutlery. The scorpion lunged for him with its pincers and cut a gash in Tyen's leg.

His dog, Sadie, a large Siberian husky, came and saw Tyen, wounded on the counter top. Sadie, unaware of the scorpion, went up to Tyen but got in the way of the stinger and was poisoned. After the scorpion fatally injured Sadie, it went directly for Tyen, who was now hiding in an empty cupboard. The scorpion jumped up, and Tyen stabbed its underside, to no avail. Suddenly, Tyen's father rushed in from the living room in terror of what he saw. As a clear sighted mortal, he tried to tell Tyen to get out of there, also to no avail. Herluf decided to take action and grabbed the celestial bronze dagger and tossed it to Tyen. Tyen barely caught it with his uninjured arm, and when the scorpion attempted to scale the cabinet, exposing its underside which looked soft enough to penetrate, Tyen brutally stabbed it until it disintegrated into dust.

After the mess was cleaned by Herluf, Tyen began to sob in confusion. The adrenaline faded away, and pure terror took its place. Herluf tried to give an dishonest explanation in a futile attempt to hide Tyen's heritage, but he ended up spilling the beans. "Tyen," he said, "you're special in ways nobody could imagine. You know that?" and continued to explain his flirtations with Sabrina. To conclude his speech, he presented Tyen with the C.B dagger and sword. Tyen understood everything he was saying, and had no other explanation, so he believed him.

The next year, he was assaulted by a Stymphalian bird while on a camping trip. He was in his tent when the bird tore off the ceiling of the tent and Tyen called for his father. The bird circled overhead and occasionally pooped, littering the ground. Tyen sliced it with his sword and the bird flew off to heal itself. That evening, the bird came back and as Tyen was roasting marshmallows and clawed his shoulders with sharp talons. Tyen slashed at it with his long sword, hitting it. The bird tried the same approach maneauver the next morning, and Tyen nicked the bird's neck, eventually killing it. The next month, Tyen was severely burned by a flaming horse who attacked him while he was on his aunt's ranch. The horse dashed into the barn where Tyen was residing. It inadvertently lit the structure ablaze. Tyen's aunt, also a demigod, saw the flame and expertly dispatched the horse with her sword. The two emerged from the barn somewhat unharmed.

When Tyen reached the age of 14, Herluf came to the conclusion to send Tyen to Camp Half-Blood in order to keep him safe from harm, as the monster attacks were increasing. Herluf knew he was being selfish, keeping Tyen with him for so long, and now he decided he had waited long enough. He hoped Tyen would arrive safely, as Herluf was gravely ill with the flu at the time of Tyen's depaurture. He was wrong. The next week, Herluf gave Tyen a plane ticket to long island and $50 dollars for possible expenses once he touched down, his sword and dagger, as well as a map to where Hecate said Camp would be almost a decade ago.

Tyen made the plane ride and the taxi ride safely, even though the taxi ride was cut short due to Tyen's lack of funds. Once the taxi sped away two miles from the strawberry fields of Camp, Tyen knew he was in danger. He decided to cut through a forest that he assumed Camp would be behind, as Camp was surrounded by woods on the map. A mile and a half in, Tyen heard a growling behind him. He ran from the sound, only to hear bounding paws chasing him. He ran about thirty yards before the adolescent Hellhound reached him. Tyen screamed and lashed out with his sword. The beast tore at Tyen's flesh, and Tyen was knocked unconscious. He was mauled badly, and close to dying. The Hellhound was injured as well due to the deep wound in its head, and ran off, then died. Tyen managed to drag himself up against a tree, which was next to a freshwater stream from which Tyen drank and cleaned his wounds. where he feebly used the torn lower part of his jeans to stop the blood flow. He camped there for the night, allowing the wounds to heal a small bit. The next day at around noon, he decided he was well enough to drag himself into the borders of Camp Half-Blood.
