Bituin - WB

Star Nymph

One Whisper, Then Another

When The Leaves Fly to Touch the Sky

Bituin: She was sitting on a sturdy branch of a huge tree, sketchbook open on her lap, showing a sketch of all the constellations in the sky. She was taking one of her random daytime naps, leaning against the trunk of the tree.

Caelan: Feeling the hum of life rumbling beneath his feet, Caelan strolled along in the forest. He seemed unarmed like before and in casual garb, his sneakers making crunching sounds as they lifted and pressed against the ground. Looking around warily, he kept up a sweet whistling tune before sitting down to rest by a tree trunk, which unbeknownst to him was where Bitiun was napping. Mildly bored, he began to levitate a rock roughly the size of his hand a meter away, letting it spin around in the air.

Bituin: Hearing a new sound, she shifted a bit, not much to make her fall down, but enough for her sketchbook to fall down. She still slept on, unknown to what happened to her sketchbook.

Caelan: The flutter of the sketchbook's pages caught Caelan's attention, and he looked up, the rock dropping as his focus went elsewhere. Lifting a hand, he manipulated the wind to make the sketchbook land on his lap, and a jolt went through him as he recognized it. "What is she doing out here all alone?" The son of Physis got to his feet holding the sketchbook, his eyes scanning for the owner among the tree branches.

Bituin: She shifted again. This time, it went too far and she started to fall backwards. She jolted awake as she felt the force of gravity, forcing out a little "Eep!" of surprise.

Caelan: A falling figure with a blonde head almost immediately caught Caelan's currently green eyes. He analyzed the situation for a split second before dropping the sketchbook and flinging out his arms, making a large rock levitate and fly over to Bituin's falling range. It would leave a bruise, probably, but at least her skull wouldn't crack open. He could have used his other powers...but unfortunately he had to keep his identity a secret.

Bituin: She let out a yelp of pain as her back collided with the rock. "Oww..." She slowly sat up, looking up. It was a really bad idea to sleep up in the trees, especially on that height. "I knew it was a really bad idea to sleep up there." She mumbled.

Caelan: The rock was gently lowered to the ground and Caelan walked over, sweat beading his forehead. Maneuvering the element had taken quite the toll on him, but the sweat was the only indication, as his expression was perfectly calm. "You okay?" His voice was tinged with concern. Jamming his hands into his pockets, his now brown eyes gave Bituin a once over.

Bituin: She turned to look at Caelan. "Oh hey Cyrus." She smiled at him. She slowly stood up, wincing a bit. "And yeah, I'm okay. Thanks." She slowly got down the rock. After landing on firm ground, she dusted off her pants.

Caelan: He nodded in acknowledgement. "Bituin. What brings you to the deeper parts of the forest?" His voice was level, but he was inwardly relieved. A mild smile washed across his face. "Though the same could be asked of me. Sleeping up around these parts are highly inadvisable." His kaleidoscopic eyes glinted mischievously. "The trees are quite aggressive, don't you think?" It was his way of admonishment, though not exactly obvious.

Bituin: "I usually go up high in the trees every night to stargaze. I guess I fell asleep sometime during the night." She said with a sheepish voice. "Being too near to the lights of camp slightly dims the starlight so I prefer the deeper parts of the forest. Besides, my dryad friends would usually warn me if there are hostiles coming in my direction." She explained.

Caelan: "Then why haven't they warned you now?" Caelan wanted to ask, but resisted. "Perfectly understandable," He conceded before glancing back at her sketchbook, a little ways away from them. "Though you should tell your dryad friends to wake you up if you fall asleep that high up. I don't believe you star nymphs can fly, and if you did, even I have trouble using my powers smack out of bed." He then allowed himself to smile a little wider. "Come on. Your sketchbook nearly hit me over the head and is waiting for you." With a small nod, he turned to walk back to where the sketchbook lay.

Bituin: "I'll keep that in mind." She winced a bit at the mention of her sketchbook almost hitting him on the head. "Sorry about that." She then followed him towards where her sketchbook was. "We star nymphs can actually fly, but for just a short time and only during the night." She said.

Caelan: "It's fine," Caelan dismissed casually with a wave of a hand. Listening intently at her revelation, he nodded thoughtfully as he leaned down to pick up her sketchbook. "Makes sense. Though technically the sun is a star so you should be able to fly during day as well...but I'm not the one making the rules, so..." He shrugged before handing the sketchbook to her.

Bituin: "Thanks." She said as she flipped the pages of her sketchbook, making sure that nothing is damaged. Sketches of a young girl would be the more prominent ones, followed by sketches of a woman, and some scenery. "I haven't actually tested that but I think it won't work since it's Lord Apollo's sphere of control."

Caelan: Caelan's eyes sharply took in the pictures, absentmindedly nodding in agreement at her final statement. "I'm guessing Lady Asteria's the woman, but who's the girl? You?" Ever since a crazy Cyclops attack in a painting museum back home, he'd gained a knack of reading or looking at things upside down as naturally as if they were right side up. His dad had wanted to get it checked...but Amatis had disagreed and pointed out how useful it could be.

Bituin: She would shake her head. She flipped the pages until she stopped at another sketch of the same girl and looked at it fondly. "She's Ginevra, my best friend back home. She's a little... prideful of herself but she means well. And she's really fun to draw." She said, fondness evident in her voice.

Caelan: "Ah...I think you've mentioned her before?" Caelan inquired gently, peering at the sketch. His instincts automatically told him he had to tread carefully. "I assume she's with Lady Asteria?" Bituin had captured the girl's image with almost perfect clarity, and the amount of sketches she had of the other nymph was enough proof they were close.

Bituin: "Yeah. We wished we could've been sent down together but only I was sent down." She said with a shrug. "We Iris Message eachother everyday. She keeps me up to date of everything that happened back home." Something clicked in her mind. "Which reminds me... I haven't Iris Messanged her today."

Caelan: So his assumptions were correct. At the final statement, Caelan's mild smile returned and he stepped back a bit. "Well, don't hold back on my account," He stated plainly. "Go on." Digging out a drachma from his pocket, he tossed it over to Bituin with a hand movement too fast for the naked eye to follow before jamming his hands back to his pockets. "Assuming you're capable of producing a rainbow as you star nymphs glow."

Bituin: She barely managed to catch the drachma. "Uhh... thanks?" She turned to the direction of the lake. "Well, yes, except I need the help of someone with hydrokinetic abilities to produce the mist needed. I know someone who can help."

Caelan: "Welcome. Alright then," Caelan nodded, falling in step with her. He had the very abilities, but yet again, he had to keep up his cover. He didn't know what was compelling him anymore, and at first it had been just for his great-aunt...but something...He shook his head metaphorically. Focus.

Timeskip: Glowing Drops and Stirring Wind

Bituin: She stopped in front of the lake. Looking around, she whistled and waited. She turned to Caelan. "He should be here any minute." She said to him. "He's a bit of a social butterfly so he would stop for a while to greet someone."

Caelan: Nodding absentmindedly, Caelan rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet. Truthfully, he was cool with butterflies. Social ones, not so much. He couldn't imagine being forced to deal with chattering ones every day he went out to the forest. Shaking himself out of his reverie, he tried to rein in his ADHD by scanning the area with his currently silver eyes.

Bituin: She tapped her feet impatiently. That guy is really talkative like-- Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of swirling water. She immediately turned to look at the lake just in time for a young man to emerge from the water. She sighed in relief. "Finally you're here, Will."

Will: When he heard the whistle through the water, he excused himself from the pretty nymph he had been conversing with. Travelling through the lake, he stopped a few moments to say hi to some of his fellow water nymphs. After a few moments, he materialized in front of Bituin. "What's up, kiddo?" He greeted her as he patted her on the head.

Caelan: Caelan didn't seem ruffled by the water spirit's appearance, and looked on with his usual mild expression. Physical contact indicated closeness, and the nickname implied a possible sibling bond. He withdrew from his instinctive analyzing for a moment and returned to reality, waiting for Bituin to respond and or introduce him.

Bituin: "Just because you're older by 3 weeks doesn't mean you can call me kiddo." She mumbled. "Anyway, Will, meet Cyrus, a son of Lady Cybele." She gestured to Caelan. "Cyrus, this is Will."

Will: He grinned and walked towards Caelan. He held out his hand for a handshake. "Nice to meetcha, Cyrus!"

Caelan: A small (still mild) smile accompanied Caelan as he reached out and shook the other guy's hand. "Right back at you, Will." Adjusting to other surroundings was easy, though he didn't know how he'd fare with a "social butterfly." Hopefully he wouldn't need to keep up with much talking.

Will: He turned to Bituin. "Same old, same old?" He asked as he produced a light mist with the water from the lake.

Bituin: She nodded as she produced some miniature stars and made them shine through the mist, producing a rainbow. She threw the drachma into it, saying "Oh Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow, please accept my offering." After that, she said, "Ginevra, Star Nymph of Asteria." The rainbow shimmered and then an image of a blonde-haired girl appeared. Bituin grinned. "Hi, Ginny!"

Caelan: Having used Iris Messaging once or twice to contact his stepmum and dad, it didn't at all surprise Caelan when the Ginny girl's face popped up. Once again, he had to marvel at Bituin's art skill, her best friend's features were slightly surprising in 3D after seeing them set in paper. He shifted on his feet restlessly, waiting for someone to speak.

Ginny: She grinned at Bituin. "Hi, Bee! You're a bit late today and--" She paused as she saw Caelan. And she squealed. "Oh my gods, Bee, he's such a cutie! Who is he, by the way?" She asked Bituin.

Bituin: She winced a bit at Ginny's squeal. "Oh, he's Cyrus, a son of Lady Cybele." She turned to Caelan. "Cyrus, meet Ginny." She said as she gestured to the girl in the Iris Message.

Caelan: Resisting the impulse to arch an eyebrow at the comment, Caelan let his usual mild smile show. "Hello. Bituin never stops mentioning you," He stated conversationally. Meanwhile, he mentally thanked his parents for sending him to all-boys schools all his life and at the same time teaching him how to deal with pressure. Girls were something alien to him.

Ginny: "Aww... I'm just too brilliant to stop mentioning." She said, flipping her hair. "Nice to meet you, Cyrus!" She waved at him.

Bituin: She just shook her head at her friend's antics, but she had a smile on her face. "Be careful, Ginny. Your ego is getting bigger."
