“Sometimes, I can be hotter than the sun.”
About to pass the empty bench for the 7th time since he started to jog around camp, he now sees a very short-haired lady seated on it, staring at her dagger. He decided to walk towards the bench and sat beside her since he's too tired by what he was doing earlier. Using his face towel, he wiped his sweaty face and leaned his back on the bench after. "Ah, what a tiring day."

Bench

Mathilde: She gasps, startled with the voice she just heard that she almost dropped her dagger but managed to keep a good grasp of it. She slowly turns her head to see who's beside her and sees a casual-looking guy just wiping his sweat. "Um... hello," she says sheepishly with a small wave of a hand. "Have you um... been there for a while?" she asks, feeling nervous. She just finds it embarrassing whenever people would catch her looking at herself.

Jake: "What" he asked, turning his head. He first stretched his arms upward and yawned before finally talking to her. "Oh, hey. I'm Jake." he greeted her with a friendly smile while waving his hand. He quickly grabbed her dagger--since he's already a pro at 'quickly grabbing' things and such--and stared at it just like what she was doing earlier. "So, you were doing it like this, right?" he said as he turn his face upwards, downwards, trying to see every angle of his face on it.

Mathilde: Her eyes widened in shock because of two things: one, the guy was able to snatch her dagger out of her hand flawlessly and two, he just imitated what she did a few minutes ago. She covered her mouth in disbelief. She could've sworn she felt her cheeks flush as she tried to fight back the feeling of shame. Great going, Mattie. Just great! she said in her mind. "W-Well... yes..." she answered to him, looking down the ground. All her courage just ran out and she didn't feel like looking at the guy. "Sorry you had to see that..."

Jake: He chuckled as he notice her blush and quickly looks down. He put the dagger on her lap and pats her back. "Hey, hey. No need to feel shy about it. It's natural for people to be self-curious, you know? Specially in how they look." He said, comforting her. "And, oh, sorry about snatching your dagger. I thought it would be fun and you'd laugh but.. well, you didn't." He sighed and again, leaned his back on the bench. "So, who's child are you anyway?" He asked and quickly grabbed the dagger again from her lap and examines it.

Mathilde: Somehow, she felt better and a small smile formed on her face. When she was about to get her dagger, it again disappeared from her sight. "Huh?" She then turned to guy only to see her dagger in his hands once more. "Uh--" she tried to utter a word. "Me? Child?" She chuckled. "I'm not a child of anyone. I'm a creation of lord Dionysus, a tiger nymph."

Jake: After throwing the dagger for the last time and successfully catching it, he turns to her. "What?!" He exclaimed, surprised of what she just said. He eyed her from head-to-toe even though they were seated. He's surprised because this was his first time meeting and talking to a nymph. "So, you're a tiger nymph, you say? But why are you.." He leaned his face closer to hers before finishing the sentence. "one of those shy-type of girls? Tigers are supposed to be outsanding , fierce and brave, right?

Mathilde: Her eyes bulged in utter surprise that their faces were so close, making her all stiff. "Um... isn't that a stereotype? Tigresses have their um... soft sides too, you know?" she tried to explain. "As of what you just said, I have that side too... I think." She looked down and continued, "But I don't think you really wanna see that."

Jake: He chuckled as he saw her look down again. He lifted her chin up and makes her face him, looking straight into her eyes. "Well, personally, I'd like to see that side of you." He playfully winked at her before patting her head. "You're too cute to have that side, anyway."

Mathilde: Her cheeks felt warmer and she already knew that she was flustering at that moment. She probably looked like some red tomato which was pretty much embarrassing. She chuckled nervously and said, "Um, thanks I guess?" She cleared her throat as she brought up another topic. "So!" She introduced herself, "I'm Mathilde." She extended her hand to him. "And you are...?"

Jake: "I thought I already introduced myself earlier. Well, I'm Jake. Son of Hermes." He said, giving her a handshake. "And, please don't change the topic. I seriously want to see that side of you." He insisted, pinching her cheeks that were less red than before.

Mathilde: "Oh," she said, completely forgetting that he just said his name earlier. "Right." When he began pinching her cheeks, she went, "Ow! Ow! Hey!" She backed off and saw her dagger was still with him so she said, "Now, why don't you please just give me my dagger back?"

Jake: "Oops, sorry. My bad." He apologized, handling the dagger back to her. He massaged her cheeks because it was obvious that she was hurt. "Sorry for this, too. I didn't know you were that sensitive." He apologized again, still massaging both her cheeks that became red again.

Mathilde: She was relieved that she finally got her dagger back. She was surprised that Jake, earlier was pinching her cheeks, now massaging them. "W-Wat ar chu doweeng?" Her words sounded quite unclear. "Yu know, yu can shtap now," she continued. She wasn't angry or anything. She just found what he's doing a bit odd or maybe she wondered if that gesture was considered cute.

Jake: Still massaging her cheeks, he thinks that Mathilde's enjoying it. "I can see that you're having fun." He laugh after Mathilde tries hard utter her words properly. He loosens his grip, chuckling. "You really are cute!"

Mathilde: "Naaaahhhh I don't think you'll be thinking that way if--" She turned herself into her animal nymph form. Now with her fiercer eyes, she stared at the demigod. The tiger snorted as if saying, Does this look cute to you? Nah. It jumped off the bench and lay down the grass with the dagger held in between its fangs.

Jake: Witnessing her transformation literally in front of him, he clapped after she successfully turned herself into her animal nymph form. He seated beside her and pats her nape. "Still, cute though." He said, smirking.

Mathilde: Like how a feline would normally react, the tiger tilted its head and let its nape rub against Jake's hand. It closed its eyes feeling, purring. Later, a ball of thread just fell in front of the tiger and its eyes opened wide. It crouched and then attempted to grab the thread but it rolled down the hill so Mathilde had to run after it. Rolling. Rolling... and there you go! Finally, the tiger was able to grab it in between its teeth.

Jake: "H-Hey!" Jake exclaimed, stood up and chased after Mathilde. Not even knowing where she's heading to. He suddenly slid down the hill, landing with his head first. "A-Aw!" He shouted, patting his head.

Mathilde: Shocked to see the guy land head first, the tiger immediately ran to him, letting go of the ball of thread then transformed back into a nymph seated beside Jake. "Are you ok--" She hit her forehead. "That was a stupid question to ask," she murmured. "Um-- wanna go to the infirmary or something?" she offered, "I can take you there if you want."

Jake: He dusted off the dirt on his clothes after standing up. "No, no. I'm fine. No need to go to the infirmary or what." He insisted her, giving her a thumbs up with a cheeky smile after. "See, I'm really fine.

Mathilde: She stood up after he did then when he said he was just fine, she smiled. "Okay, if you say so." She patted his head just like what he did to her earlier. "By the way, don't you have other things to do?" she asked out of curiosity. "Aren't demigods busy or something?"

Jake: "I don't know.." He scratched his head before, smiling. "I just got here since I left camp a year ago and my old friends are gone. But, at least a special friend of mine whom I like still remembers me." He said, smiling cheekily. Remembering him and Kali's conversation. "So.., yeah. I technically have nothing to do." Answering her question, he patted her head.

Mathilde: "Ah that's nice to know." The thought of having good old friends made her smile. It made her remember her friends back at Mt. Olympus. "Maybe you'll meet them again someday," she said. "The world is small, you know?"

Jake: His expression changed into a gloomy one. "Nah, they all left. I guess there really is nothing permanent in this world. Everything just changes." He said, still wearing that sad expression. He let out a heavy sigh before laying down and closing his eyes.

Mathilde: She had nothing to say but, "Sorry." She looked up the clear blue sky for a moment then looked back down at him. "Want me to leave you alone for now?"

Jake: "No, no. I'm fine." He said before patting the empty space beside him. "You can lay down here if you want to though." He suggested.

Mathilde: "Mmm... okay," she said then she lay down the grass, keeping the right distance between them, almost a foot. She put her hands together, clasped on her tummy as she watched the clouds go by. She decided to just keep silent and let Jake contemplate.

Jake: "The sky's beautiful, isn't it?" He suddenly commented, eyes still closed.

Mathilde: She wasn't able to reply... simply because she had already fallen asleep from feeling too much comfort. Plus, she was sort of a sleepyhead too sometimes.

Jake: Jake opened his eyes, hearing nothing from her when he asked her about the sky. He turned his head to his side and found her already sleeping soundly. "That.. was fast. Oh, well." He said and got back to his previous position and after making himself comfortable, he fell asleep also.

The skies suddenly darkened and thunder rumbled. Rain started to pour a few minutes later.

Mathilde: As the droplets touched her skin, it woke her up and gasp in surprise that there's a sudden change in the weather. She sat up and turned to Jake who seemed to be sound asleep. "Wake up!" She shook him.

Jake: He heard screaming and felt desperate hands that tries to interrupt his sleep. He quickly woke up and saw the change of the weather whilst looking up at the sky. "Damn!" He quickly stood up, his clothes already mid-wet from the droplets of the rain that pours from the clouds, grabbing Mathilde's hand and ran to find shelter.
