Thomas "Tommy D" DiFiore was one of the most high level, sought after mob bossses in the continent of North America, his allegiance never retreating with the Bonanno Crime Family. With hardly having enough time for a social life, the man was extremely busy and would rather be feared, respected and admired rather than making friends or romance connections. It was all a waste of time to him, especially when you're running from the law at all times. The closest thing to romance he ever got to was his love for prostitutes---lust was his greatest flaw which could drive him to doing whatever he wanted to whoever he wanted at the time.
One day, Thomas met a woman named Fiorella Giuseppe. Meeting her through an alliance with another mafia family grouping, he was instantly attracted with her beauty. He didn't care for her in terms of romance, it was more for just... the sex in all bluntness. The man wasn't a marrying type of man at all. But when it came to that rare chance where he met a woman with a sort of cunningness, intelligence, beauty that was so undeniably irresistble, he would go the extra mile and chase after her for a bit until she was his. However, with his old age and herself being married already as she stated hundreds of times, she wouldn't get together with him. She was a truly beautiful distraction and a master with words as he never did much questioning on who her husband was nor where he was considering he seemed to never be around. The man enjoyed the chase... for a little while. But soon, it grew boring to him. Usually women would come racing to his bed after a time had passed, if not for his charm then for his ranking, then the money they might receive from doing this thing. Not being used to not getting what he wanted, he decided to plan a rape. Bringing her to an alleyway in the Bronx when no one was around, he talked to her casually as he would of with his men. Cigarette in hand, gun in pocket, all was ready to go. Giving her a beer that was originally mixed in with Ketamine in a powder form (A medication mainly used for starting and maintaining anesthesia. It induces a trance-like state while providing pain relief, sedation, and memory loss), it knocked her out quickly which allowed him to give her to rape her without worrying about her fighting him off or yelling for help. Little did he know that this woman she was the goddess of revenge and retribution, Nemesis.
As a result of sleeping around, she wasn't surprised that she had got pregnant. Condoms broke, she didn't always take her pill, whatever. Nemesis wasn't one to care about birth control too much--the woman was all easy breezy when it came to that. Manhatten had so many interesting people to meet, who has time for birth control when you're meeting all the fish in the sea? In due time, she had realised that the baby was in fact Thomas' child and was confused on considering she never let him touch her and then came to the conclusion that he had obviously raped her that night at the alleyway. Furious beyond belief, she had decided to concoct her revenge on the man. Who was he to do something like this to a goddess, to anyone? While aborting the baby was something she toyed around with, she decided against it considering the baby was involuntarily created and it wasn't it's fault that it's father was a horrible man. Using him for her revenge was way more practical. As she carried out her time out with the pregnancy, she made such the alliance was broken between the two mafia groups by making up lies so the current mafia she was in would hate the Bonanno's or at least stray away from it knowing that whatever they did to them could get them crushed as the Bonannos were such a powerful group. As soon as the baby was delivered, she left the baby with Thomas secretly and the name "Fiorella Giuseppe" was soon forgotten by the Bonannos. Thomas not caring enough for children nor ever wanting to have a bunch of his spawn around him while he was trying to go on 'Mafia business' decided to give the child to Romano "The Fork" Bonanno. Romano, being his 2ic [Second in charge], kept the child and figured he'd get rank up if he did this and so using the child for his own greed, he said yes to the man and raised the boy who was later named Benvenuto.
The child grew up differently from the other people who had lived in his Manhattan neighbourhood. Not exactly following the cliché of a "bad boy" but not exactly completely different from the idea either, his juvenile presence was vexing to those around him whether it be at school or a simple place like McDonalds. The pranks he had done had made him the example of what a "bad kid" was. School administration knew who he was and pretended there was no more room for children, parents mandated their children to evade him, and children either feared him or sucked up to him so they could be considered "cool" among the girls. While the rest of the world despised the little troublemaker, the gang loved him and educated him on how to utilize guns and other weaponry along with how to fight.
Little Benvenuto however was just trying to seem "butch" when he seemed like a bully. With his family/gang always insulting men who liked the same sex and his school mates calling those who seemed even the least bit interested slurs that made most end up with a gun to their head, he was fearful of even thinking about something like that. All he wanted to do was impress the gang and once he was out of school, become the boss of the Bonanno crime family. His ambition drove him to keep his thoughts and dreams a secret therefore he lied about preferring girls to guys. While his lying skills were wonderful most of the time, tiny slip ups got him teased from time to time. Both uncomfortable with the lying he had said and the truth that he knew inside his heart, he felt like either way he was bound to be unhappy anyway.
Once he turned thirteen, he saw one of his first monsters. He was ambulating around a Costco and that's when he saw the cyclops. It was running towards him and he felt his life flashing before his eyes. Ben couldn't move, it was like his feet wasn't allowing them to. His palms were sweaty, knees weak, arms were heavy. As the cyclops became more proximate and closer to him, a Costco food distribution truck rushed past and seemed to have killed it or at least paralyzed it.
As soon as it all transpired, his adrenaline kicked in and he ran home quickly without looking behind him to see what had happened to the creature. Considering Manhatten's massive traffic, it was a surprise he hadn't got killed but he couldn't stop until he kenned he was safe. In that moment all he could about was how to escape, how to get out before he got hurt. Not wanting to seem like a loser, he didn't tell anyone about what had happened and was in massive denial. He kept telling himself that he was hallucinating, it was all just a dream---a one time nightmare. Little did he know that while this was his first attack, this definitely wasn't his last.
Fourteen was a year of luck for him, monster attacks were gone, life was seemingly good for him despite the fact that he was banned and had wanted posters with his face on it in various areas. Ben was comfortable feeling safe, not having to worry about some one-eyed thing kill him.
A few months after he turned fifteen, that all had changed. He was attacked again by a Stymphalian Birds. Due to having such a great year before, he wasn't mentally prepared at all. He was nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready. Trying to run away, he realised he wasn't going to get out of this fight as easily as he would like to considering the weapons in it's hands. Trying to fight hand to hand combat was not going to help him despite it being his strength other than utilizing a gun so the only thing that seemed proficiently adept at the time was dodging the slice of their sharp, celestial bronze beaks. Unknown to him, children of Nemesis have innate reflexes which allows them to fight and dodge quickly therefore being one of the factors to why he was so quick besides the fact that his whole life he was running from people of authority since he could practically walk. All he wanted to do was escape or at least have an suitable weapon to kill the thing. All of a sudden, a field of energy or a forcefield was around him and the Stymphalian Birds fell to the ground. Freaked as to how this type of magic could've transpired, he ran home, similar to how he did before (They didn't follow him or anything after the forcefield fell because there was one of the old churches nearby and if you've seen them, sometimes they have a bell once it strikes twelve or so and it makes this huge noise.) The whole thing was certainly odd to him as it would be to anyone else.
Feeling worried, he attempted to discuss this with the rest of the gang. He opens his mouth, but the words won't come out. He's chokin', everybody's was starting to joke now. When he seemed to manage to get it all out without stuttering, all the gang did was offer did was offer him a prostitute and a beer if he shut up. Figuring that no one would believe him no matter how hard he tried to convince them, he tried to conjure up the 'magic' again by himself.
By sixteen, the son of Nemesis had saw what seemed to look like a dog (hellhound) in the distance. As it ran towards him, he soon realised it was some type of creature again. At this point in time he had been preparing for what seemed like a lifetime for one of these attacks. He was mediocre at best but he had gotten better with the powers thing and practiced anytime he could alone. Ben didn't want anyone to know about it considering they'd just throw him on the street and think of him as one of those psychics on 11th (Avenue). He kept thinking 'maybe if I defeat it, I'll get all of the answers'. He only get one shot, he hadn't wanted to miss his chance to blow because this type of opportunity comes once in a lifetime. What if this was last chance? Third chances were usually when it was all over, at least when it came to baseball. Ben was too far too late however because by the time he was getting ready, the hellhound had jumped him and ended his life. This time, his life had actually flashed before his eyes. He was dead.
In the underworld, Ben was contained in the Fields of Asphodel. Every second he was down there, he hated it mainly because he felt like he had one shot and he just let it slip. The young male couldn't take the idea of losing--he was good at winning and he had a huge advantage with all that power he'd been "finding" in himself so why couldn't he do it now? Attempting to bargain his freedom with Thanatos, he finally got to an idea that two could both agree on: a game of chess. If Ben won, he would get to leave. If Thanatos won, he'd have to stay. Considering Ben had no idea how to play and had won anyway enraged Thanatos so while he did let him leave, he had decided to put a curse on him secretly. This curse turned him into a frog permanently if water had touched him. Remembering that the boy was only sixteen and he wasn't that heartless, Thanatos had given him information on Camp Half-Blood and told him all about being a demigod. Thinking he could handle himself, Ben decided not to go and lived his life on the streets of New York with no home.
Once out of the Underworld, he felt free. Life was great until of course he had fell into a tiny lake and turned into a frog. As a frog he had no human memories or thoughts, all he could do was 'ribbet'. Once Nemesis had found out, she took pity on her son and demanded Thanatos to turn him back. At this point, Thanatos hadn't cared much for the chess showdown (He wasn't one to hold grudges; At this point he had been a frog for only a year or so) from long ago so he turned Ben back into a human. Staying in shelters and stealing from the rich to get around in New York, Ben continued to try and use the power he had discovered that he had. Angry with Thanatos and feeling cheated, his prime motivation for this was taking him down. He hated him with a fiery passion and wished him gone (AN: I know it sounds as if he's going to go to the BC but he isn't for now though it might be a future plot). Training himself, he fought anything that got in his way. As he did this, there were harder attacks and even more monsters for some reason. By the time he was eighteen, Ben had realised that he couldn't possibly do this on his own without a bit of help if not better training. Remembering the directions to CHB from Thanatos, he went there and was claimed by Nemesis within a week (That's how long he's been here) of being there as a sword and an apple branch was found on the floor next to his bed when he awoke.
