Powers

Offensive[]

  1. Children of Hecate have the ability to fire an intense beam of magical energy which will burn anything it touches. The ability can also be focused into small magical bullets, which have better range but are less damaging than a beam.
  2. Children of Hecate have the ability to use magic to electrically charge something made of metal for a short time.

Defensive[]

  1. Children of Hecate are able to create a protective dome of magical energy around them for a short time.
  2. Children of Hecate are able to become ethereal in form for a short time, which temporarily causes all attacks to go through them. In this state, they cannot attack an opponent and if they do their ethereal state will dissipate instantly.

Passive[]

  1. Children of Hecate have the innate ability to see in all directions at once.
  2. Children of Hecate are innately stronger at night.
  3. Children of Hecate are able to communicate with the dead to gather information.
  4. Children of Hecate are adept at making potions and elixirs, however potions used in battle cannot be overly powerful or altering to the events of the battle. Potions that can automatically heal all wounds or restore all energy are examples of over-powered potions. Only descendants of Hecate/Circe and Lampades can create potions. Overconsumption of potions can result in overdose symptoms and some potions could have side-effects or not work at all.

Supplementary[]

  1. Children of Hecate can conjure spells to teleport themselves and allies. The further the distance, the more energy drained.
  2. Children of Hecate can cast a levitation spell on themselves for a short time which will allow them to fly, the longer they levitate the more power it drains. The spell can also be used items and enemies.
  3. Children of Hecate are able to use some healing spells to quickly heal minor wounds and slowly heal major wounds. Fatal wounds cannot be healed.

3 Months After a Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Hecate are able to control the Mist around them, allowing them to create optical illusions that can fool even demigods. The illusions can confuse enemies with false memories, alter the appearance of the user or their allies, change the appearance of items or weapons or even alter the appearance of the environment to an extent. Changes to the Mist only last for a short time, mist control is less draining than custom spells. (6 month)

6 Months After a Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Hecate have the ability to create new spells, whether they were trained, self-taught or devised the spell on the fly. The spells can be minor, such as locating, summoning animals, divination or controlling emotions. Or they can be more advanced and powerful such as controlling the elements, pure magical energy, necromancy, curses and summoning monsters or magical guardians. Spells cannot be overly powerful or controlling. The more complex and powerful the spell, the more energy it drains from the user.

9 Months After a Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Hecate have the ability to focus all their magical abilities into transforming themselves into any living being, or even a being of their own imagination. This power is, in essence, the ability to shapeshift into anything the user can imagine. The user can transform into another human, an animal, a monster, or anything in between. The transformation can last as long as the user wishes it to, but the longer they hold their form the more it drains them. They cannot cast any spells while the transformation is in place and they cannot transform into anything overly powerful. (Like a rabbit that can make people’s heads explode with a thought. ) The form they shift into cannot be larger than 2 to 3 times the human size of the user, and after the user resumes their regular form they are severely drained. Unable to move from exhaustion and they could possibly faint. This power can only be used once in a fight.

Traits[]

  1. Children of Hecate typically love the magical arts, many of them are known for writing spellbooks. Her children have created/re-introduced and improved spells and techniques all over history.
  2. Necromancy is commonly a favored magical art among children of Hecate.
  3. Children of Hecate are known for being quite mysterious.
  4. Children of Hecate are often more active and exhibit better moods at night and in dark environments.
  5. Children of Hecate wield innate knowledge and understanding of the Mist.
History
-Benedicte grew up in the region of Macedonia, Greece. She was the youngest of eight, but she was the only demigod.

—Her father was a demigod, son of Hermes, though, and knew of the Olympians. It made it easier for him to accept the baby that he found on his doorstep after a small fling he had in New York. He was an international racecar driver and ran into Hecate into a dive bar.
—They grew up living on his winnings but with eight children, the winnings were spread thin. They grew up upper middle class with the added bonus of being recognised by people on the street.
—This meant that she grew up surrounded by cars. Luxury based cars but especially custom design cars that were meant for speed. As dangerous as it was, her father often took her in the car as he raced through the country, easily breaking the speeding limit but they were rarely caught. And if they were? Well, he paid them off.
— All in all, she was happy growing up. She had two childhood friends, Vero and Magdelena. As a child, she wasn't really aware about Vero's childhood life. How could she know? Her life horizons was centred on growing up with everything she ever needed, especially as the youngest of the eight siblings. Vero eventually did confide, but all Bennie could really offer was a place to escape. Everyone's safe in her house, but she was turned down.
—She was first attacked by monsters at the age of nine years old, a group of harpies. They should have had the power to kill her, fortunately they were run over by her father before they got to her. He explained to her what had happened, what the monsters were, and who she is. Promised her not to tell her siblings, or anyone else. Every other monster was dealt with by her father, with him rarely letting Bennie go too far away from him. Was he protective? Maybe a little too much, but Bennie wasn't bothered by this. She understood, even at that young age. Being confronted by a monster alone terrified her.
—Moving forward, Bennie was aware she was going to the U.S. eventually, going to this camp for people like her. She didn't look forward to it. She wanted to stay with her friends. Her siblings. Her father. She spent all her time working on cars, being with friends, and ignoring school work completely.
–Eventually, she realised she was able to go to the camp for only the summer, coming back to Greece the rest of the year. She was happy with this compromise, especially when she found out that her two friends were also demigods and were going with her. All her concerns were gone so she embraced camp life completely.
-Of course, as the years progressed and she went th rough her teenage years, she found herself falling for Vero. It was always going to happen, wasn't it? By the age of fifteen, she'd started distancing herself from Magdelena. Bennie wasn't a fool, she could see the writing on the wall, and the things she was beginning to say didn't rub Bennie the right way.
— So maybe Bennie was upset when Vero ended up dating Magdelena. She didn't have the heart to tell Vero how she felt, risk ruining their friendship, and she couldn't bring herself to walk away. So she kept silent, bore it all with a smile, and began focussing on anything else she had in her life. She even began spending all year at camp, not going back to Greece with the other two. She began going to New York, convincing some mechanic to take her under his wing. She brought up who her dad was and that got her in. Nepotism for the win, right?
— And that's how her life turned out. Working at the mechanic during the year, spending her time at camp during the summer, balancing high school on top of that. Her father was mad at her, as well as siblings, wanting her to come back to Greece, at least for Christmas, but there's only so much they can do to influence her on the other side of the world.
— At the age of eighteen, everything changed. Vero turned around and admitted the issues she was having with Magdalena and asked to run away. Benedicte said yes. Despite the distance she'd tried to put between them, she'd never known how to say no to the other girl and push come to shove? Benedicte would follow Vero to Tartarus.
— The next few years was travelling from country to country, assuming different identities, barely keeping up with their old life. Bennie kept in contact with her father and some siblings but it was infrequent. She knew Vero's past, knew the danger, and she didn't want to risk leading anyone back to them or her family either. Sometimes they pretended to be married, sisters, anything to fly under the radar.
— They eventually settled in the U.K., which was fine by Bennie. She could drive around England whilst Vero studied Cultural Anthropology. She started working at a local mechanic to have some income as well as to do something with her time. She raced in her free time but it was a simple hobby. She won a few times, but nothing major. She never broke through to do it professionally. She could have but in truth–she flunked a lot of the major races on purpose. She didn't want to risk drawing any unwanted attention.
— Of course, everything came to an end. Good, bad, doesn't matter. It will come to an end. She wasn't there for it. She was working and had been forced to work late so by the time she'd got home, it was nearly midnight. The house was a wreck. There'd obviously been a fight and Vero was nowhere to be found.
— Benedicte didn't know what to do. She couldn't take on an army, let alone Vero's family, but she still looked. Tried tracking them down, went to the must darkest of places in Greece to find a lead. Nothing. After two years, Benedicte gave up. She was told again and again that Vero was dead and, eventually, Bennie began to believe it.
— By the age of 24, she was tracked down by Magdalena. Why? She wasn't sure. She woke up and found the woman staring down at her. Bennie almost didn't recognise her, she'd aged so differently. But the eyes were the same. Misleading doe-like eyes. She was, funnily enough, also wanting to find Vero but for very different reasons that Bennie did. When she was forced to accept Bennie was in the dark, even believing her dead, Magdelena told her upfront the only reason she wasn't killing Bennie was that it seemed to her that Bennie was more miserable alive than dead. Then she left. The meeting was an hour at most and it left Bennie confused at best.
— The years weren't easy on Bennie, constantly tired, disconnected. She went to Greece for a few years, lived with her father, but there was little he could do to ease her grief. Eventually, she moved back to New Athens, realising that her grief was affecting her family more than she intended. Easier to be alone.

— She started up her own little mechanic store. It was good, fulfilling, took her mind off things. Didn't have to think when she was working on cars. So she fell onto a pattern. Sleep, get up, work, eat, sleep, get up...and so on. That was her life. She didn't have any complaints about it.
Personality
Bennie is a loyal person and doesn't really know how to walk away from someone. She doesn't know when enough is enough. She likes her comfort zone, she likes the status quo, and losing something isn't something she knows how to deal with. She can hyperfocus amazingly well but can struggle to put her mind onto something that doesn't interest her. She's not a stubborn person, though, more the opposite. A lot of people would define her as a doormat, with her unable to say no to people and very willing to go to any lengths for the people she loves. Unfortunately, that's a small circle in her life right now. Bennie doesn't like going out of her way to meet new people, knowing how easy it is for someone to hurt her, even unintentionally. Bennie's love is cars and knows the ins and out so building anything from scratch. Whilst it's not her speciality, she isn't so bad with technology either. Bennie is an independent person, though, and doesn't really like asking for help. Sure, she'll help out people but she'll be damned if she has to ask someone else for help. Bennie tends to be rather easily intimidated. Not quite timid, but not exactly confident either.
