=== Gaby — Claiming ===

Hello!

I'll be the first to acknowledge I haven't been the most active rollback in recent times in terms of constantly editing here and there. Unfortunately, life got very hectic, but I'm determined to maintain a fully active status moving forward. I've been with the team for a long time now, having started as rollback for Human Resources until I transferred to R&D several months ago. With Brocky's encouragement, I've been working behind the scenes to bring Capture the Flag as a permanent, monthly fixture in the wiki. It's a project I hope will be complete by May (or June at the latest). In spite of my continuing commitment to seeing this project through and running it successfully, I actually want to run as admin for the claiming department. We've been seeing a heavy influx of new users lately and I want to be able to help at a greater capacity in a more hands-on role. I understand my experience in the department is very limited, as I only ever dealt with claims as a helper a lifetime ago, but I'm confident I can be an asset to the team as an admin. Whether it's helping new users become acclimated or simply help reduce the department's current workload, I'm very willing to help in any way I can. I truthfully just want to see the community thrive, no matter what position I've undertaken.

Thank you!

We've talked, and given your enthusiasm and your regular engagement on the wiki (even if not admin-related edits), as well as your work on the upcoming project, you've thoroughly convinced me you'll make a very good admin in the claiming department with me. I trust you, and that you'll be committed to helping actively maintain the wiki, and help it grow. Best of luck!

Your experience points to you being a better r and d admin, why claiming? Tbh I'd first rather see how you work as a claiming rb before becoming an immediate claiming admin. Claiming on chb is different from darp so the rules arent one to one

my dumbass just realized youre in claiming now *facepalm*, well either way, I wanna see how you are an rb first

Update - I moved to HR so I switched the depts on this vote.

In all honesty, I haven't been interested in actually role-playing for years. I know that's a shocking way to start my case for being promoted, but it's the truth. I am here because I am interested in helping this community of people who I love and care about grow. Before the summer I told myself I wanted to try to shake things up a little here, and I believe I have accomplished that. I passed the Admin team code of conduct, proposed the current A&S reform that's up for vote , proposed the current Activity Reboot that's up for vote, have started work on several other projects, and have routinely made "helpful" edits. I also have prior experience serving on staff as a rollback for Human Resources and as an Admin for Aid & Support. When I have messed up in the past, I have taken ownership of my mistakes. I have always been willing to learn and go to far lengths to correct my actions when needed. Many users also feel comfortable talking one on one with me, and it has helped me significantly gauge the wants & needs of our community.

Side note- I want to let you guys know I am committed to contributing here, and I will continue to help the Wiki no matter how this vote goes. My rank does not play a factor in my love for this community, and it never will.

Hey guys I just wanted to take a moment to explain why my edit count has been low for the past few months. As many of you know my work load is currently dependent on the two admin team votes that are up. Both votes are close to passing so I will be able to start on reform soon, thanks for your understanding :)

I hear your interest, but a large part of me doesn't necessarily see it backed up by your actions. Other than voting and requesting user rights, your last staff-related edit was October 30th, 2020. The one prior, September 13th, and the one before that, August 31st. I don't see routine "helpful edits", and I don't know of any other projects you've been working on besides these policies.

I don't mean to sound harsh. Your experience as a rollback and admin is a major point in your favor, but it doesn't feel quite right to vote for your promotion without seeing some consistent edits and visible evidence of your commitment. What the wiki needs more than anything is staff members that are enthusiastic about contributing to the wiki AND contribute regularly. Given some more time and consistent activity, or more information about your recent efforts and projects, I'd happily vote in your favor. You do great work - I just want to see more of it.

Hi so I do understand your points here flop, but in response I'm going to expand a bit on why I haven't been as active & what I have been doing recently a bit;

1. Without leadership in A&S your workload is kind of self created, and those policies I have worked on have a bunch of behind the scenes work in google doc that's needed. (I can share the docs with everybody after they're all finished) Since I'm the one who wrote the votes that means the workload for the activity reform is most likely falling mainly on me.

2. I was planning on starting my workload for the activity reform in December, but because of the massive amounts of inactivity in our staff the vote wasn't passed until this month. I didn't start before the vote was passed because honestly it would have been really discouraging to put all of that effort in and the vote not work out.

3. I can pm you some of the details about other Initiatives I plan on rolling out now that everything is finally done with the activity reform. Nat and Brocky can also confirm that I've been trying to get the ball rolling on this for months. You can also find multiple messages from nat and in discord begging our staff to go vote.

4. This reform was one of the most overdue in the history of our Wikia. Reforming our staff activity policy has been talked about but it hasn't been done for a considerably long time until now.

5. I could be wrong but im pretty sure the edits i make on policy reform and by placing votes count as department edits. Especially since the role I play here is similar to R&D.

Anyways I do agree with you Flop, I could have been more active in the last couple of months but if you pay attention to the workload I'm currently working on along with the proposals that I hope to get out now, along with how often I was trying to kick off this reform in discord I think I still have a solid case for being promoted to admin. Again you are right about my previous activity but I encourage you to pay attention to the amount of work I will be putting in over the next month+ rather than my activity during one of the most inactive eras of the wikis history (this was written on my phone)

{{User:Mr.Suit/sigreal}}

I see what you mean. Again, though, I don't have any evidence or knowledge of how much time the activity reform took to draft or write up, and I don't have any knowledge about work on other projects. Voting is helpful, but ultimately consists of a quick read-over, brief consideration and adding your signature to a preexisting page. Calling it a departmental edit would be kind at best.

How overdue the reform was doesn't speak to the amount of work that went into it, and future workload falling on you based on it is understandable - but I haven't seen you working on it yet, so again, I just don't have that evidence I need to feel comfortable voting for you.

As for self-directed workload, quite frankly, there was a lot of work to be done, so I'm not very impressed by the implication that there wasn't much to do. New users for some time were not being leveled up, some pages were breaking, and when I asked for help with these issues I didn't get any specific responses except from Kevin who took on some of those duties despite it being outside their department.

Please by all means PM me about other things you've been working on! I would love to see that work, and depending on what I see I could be very happy to change my vote. Make no mistake - the only thing keeping me from voting for you is that evidence of consistent activity and commitment. If it were a couple of weeks from now and I saw you editing and working on projects on the wiki specifically, I'd vote for you in a heartbeat.

And ultimately, if I am outvoted, I absolutely will wish you the best and fully support you in your new position.

I trust Suit as an admin with my life. He has been working really hard behind the scenes to make sure that A&S is going in a better direction, and the wiki as a whole. When I was trying to originally become a rb, he was someone I looked up to. He has shown in the past that he can handle the edits, and I know that he can handle any workload that is thrown at him.

I've decided to change my vote. After a discussion, I understand Suit a bit better, and I believe in his ability and spirit. He will do well.

This is the page where users can request user rights. If you feel you deserve user rights, and it will benefit the wiki, then you may place a request below. Please read the instructions carefully before requesting user rights.

Requirements

Chat Mod Rights

  • You should be a trusted member of the community.
  • You should have a strong history on this wiki. We don't accept people who have only edited a few times.
  • You must be a level five user.
  • You should have no history of vandalism, sock-puppetry, or rudeness.
  • Your Duties will be to maintain chat rules and policy. As you are not a rollback, you may not approve claims or vote on things meant for rbs+. However, the 1 month auto demotion still applies.

Rollback Rights

  • You should be a trusted member of the community.
  • You should have a strong history on this wiki. We don't accept people who have only edited a few times.
  • You must be a level five user.
  • You should have no history of vandalism, sock-puppetry, or rudeness.
  • You must be willing to sign the Admin Code of Conduct
  • Upon running for Rollback, you must pick a department ahead of time, that has an opening and get permission from the Bcrat to join that department: Claiming Department, Human Resources, Research & Development, Support Services. Once you run, if you are successful, depending on which department you are in, you will perform the duties necessary in that department, and assist the Bcrat leading that department.

Administrator Rights

  • You must have rollback rights.
  • You should be a trusted member of the community.
  • You should have no history of vandalism, sock-puppetry, or rudeness.
  • Upon running for Administrator, you must pick a department ahead of time, that has an opening: Claiming Department, Human Resources, Research & Development, Support Services. Once you run, if you are successful, depending on which department you are in, you will perform the duties necessary in that department, and assist the Bcrat leading that department. In a case of a bcrat going on vacation, you may be asked to cover running that department while they are gone.

Bureaucrat Rights

  • You must have administrator rights.
  • You should be a trusted member of the community.
  • You should have no history of vandalism, sock-puppetry, or rudeness.
  • The only way a bcrat spot will ever open up, is if one of the current 3 bcrats leaves, steps down or is demoted.

Procedure

Nomination

  1. Choose to edit a section under "Requests" (either chat moderator, rollback, administrator, or bureaucrat).
  2. Add your name as a subheading like this: ===Your User Name===.
  3. Give a small statement of why you think you deserve the rights.

Voting

Users will then state whether the user deserves the rights or not. They will either agree, or disagree with the request. Only Rollbacks and up may vote on user rights.

Requests

Requests may be turned down simply because users with the rights are not needed. If your request is turned down, you can try again later when you have a stronger history, or when someone with the rights is needed.

Departments

Claiming Department

This department is primarily responsible for checking any and all claims: Camp claims, BC claims, Pet claims, and Quest or Mission claims. Members of this department are tasked with keeping claim pages up to date and organised. Helping users make claims and get started, as well as adding new users and/or characters to the Users & Characters Lists are some examples of the responsibilities that fall to the Claiming Department.

Human Resources

The Human Resources Department (HR) keeps the Users & Characters Lists up to date, as well as keep track of pages with issues and upkeep work such as categories, images, and organisation. Members of this department are also tasked with making sure that users level up the right way, as well as contacting users about their inactivity.

Research and Development

The Research and Development Department (R&D) is for the users who want to come up with ideas, plans, new projects, things to test, basically stuff that will keep the wiki moving forward. Members or this dept actively poll the wiki and talk to the users about what their needs and wishes are. This department is for users who want to help design things like templates or the main page; basically keeping the wiki looking nice. This is a good department for users who are either strong leaders or able to inspire users to get excited about things. They should also be proactive about getting work done. People in this department need to be able to get stuff done without being told or asked. They’d also be in charge of monitoring the ideas/suggestions board/forum.

Aid & Support Services

The Aid & Support Services Department (A&S) functions like the previous General Support. Members of this dept are tasked with helping users with anything they need such as guidance or direction. A&S also monitors the help and debate forums, as well as lend a hand to other departments that are low on help or have extra work.
