History

The Bellefleur family were a family loyal to the Greek gods. Though they had no actual ties to the Greek world, being completely mortal and in all honesty - not knowing if these deities were actually out there or not. That didn't stop them from believing and living life to the fullest. Leighton and Jonathan Bellefleur were a happy couple and at the ages of 24 & 26 they had a beautiful, healthy young girl - who they decided to name Celosia. The name seemed fitting from how feisty the little baby seemed to be. She'd constantly cry and throw tantrums and while yes, this might have bothered most parent, it didn't bother the Bellefleur parents.

Something you might find interesting about this family is that they actually lived in the time before Pompeii was buried under ashes. That's right, this family didn't live in current times - they lived in a time before AD 79, before tragedy struck the city of Pompeii. Let's not get to ahead of ourselves though, first let's talk about the life of Celosia Bellefleur.

She was a beautiful young lady, one that would later on attract many suitors. Like any normal child, she took lessons and played with friends, ate dinner and spent time with her parents, and for the most part she lived a very normal life. Just like her parents, Celosia worshiped the Greek gods and it was her choice to do so. The stories of heroes and heroines, the thought of them just excited her. She learned anything she could about them and as a consequence people would look at her and her family in strange ways. The did believe in the Greek gods but, not as much as the Bellefleur family did and because of that, they were the odd ones out. As time went on, Celosia grew older and older and by the time she was 19 years of age, the tragedy of Pompeii struck.

The young women and her family were terrified, they didn't know what to do but pray to the gods and plead that they'd be OK. Of course they'd hope to avoid the eruption but, they understood how the world worked and that the gods couldn't just interfere with a natural devastation. They're local towns people didn't believe in the same things though, they believed if they sacrificed a living soul to the gods that they'd be spared from death. As a result of this, just be sheer coincidence the Bellefleur family was chosen for this sacrifice. Of course, the family was terrified but, even after death they understood what was to happen. Of course, the sacrifices didn't work and now, not only were the Bellefleur family dead but, the rest of the Pompeii population was as well.

They're loyalty didn't go unnoticed though, as Aetna visited the Bellefleur family in death and thanked them for they're worship - seeing as she was one of their main deities they prayed to during the eruption. It was here the Aetna decided to grant them one wish and instead of wish for themselves, Leighton & Jonothan decided to make a wish for their daughter. Yes, while they were sad their lives had ended, they had live full live while their daughter hadn't. She was taken away to soon and so, they wished for Aetna to take their daughter soul and give birth to her herself. Aetna granted the mortal's wish and took the soul of Celosia and inserted it into her own womb, giving birth to the child about 4 months later.

Celosia was left under the care of a mortal couple who couldn't have their own child, Aetna dropping her off at their doorstep seeing as she couldn't care for her herself and Celosia's true parent's were dead. While it might have been strange and yes, Kimberly and Maverick did look around for the birth parents, they ended up keeping the girl and raising her. To honor the Bellefleur's memory, Aetna persuaded the minds of kim and maverick to give their daughter her same name, her true name.

It was from here that Celosia would grow up as a daughter of Aetna though, her real parents were still the Bellefleur's.

Growing up with the Kingsly family was as normal as being a demigod could get. Just like before, Celosia went to lessons and played with friends she made and spent time with the people she thought were her parents. Things were fine and normal, up until the time she reached the age of 13 and was attacked by a harpy.

It happened on the most randomness of days, when she was wondering around town - having just got done with lessons for the day. On her way home, Celosia could feel a pair of eyes on her but, she couldn't spot anyone watching her. It was strange and while the daughter of Aetna was nervous, she tried her best to ignore it - though it was quiet hard to do so when a harpy came swooping down at her. The demigoddess shouted in terror and dove to the ground, listening to her instincts. Quickly she jumped to her feet though, this probably wasn't the best idea because as she did so the beast swooped down again and picked her up. Again, Celosia screamed as she thrashed around in the Harpy's claws - pain shooting through her shoulders while doing so.

Things seem to move so quickly for Celosia and she could barley comprehend what was happening. Before she knew it, just as fast a she was picked up, she was dropped - not from too far off the ground, and hit it with a small thud. The demigoddess, being so under trained, did nothing but sit there and wait for another attack. And just as she expected the Harpy did and Celosia tried to prepare herself. As if by instinct, a cloud of smoke and ash emitted form her body and enveloped the two beings. The harpy screech and stumbled around and as it was distracted, the daughter of Aetna was able to run away.

After the attack, Celosia didn't know what to do and all she did was go home and not mention anything to her parents. She was to scared to say what happened out loud and seem like a crazy person. She simply forgot about it and went along with her life - that is until the day came that she had to relive it. It was just like before, almost exactly but, this time someone was there to save her. She was walking home after her daily lesson, it was almost a year after her first attack, this time a hellhound standing before her. Like most people would react, Celosia instantly started running - the hellhound right on her trial. Unlike before, when time was moving fast, time was moving slower. Celosia felt like she was running forever and when a sudden stranger came and killed the beast - giving the demigodess a break, she was grateful. Turns out this stranger was a demigod son of Apate and to Celosia's luck he was near-by.

Although Jeremy, the son of apate, didn't know who Celosia's parent was he could sense that she was a demigod and told her so. He explained the world to her and maybe it was because he knew how hard it was being all alone in this, Jeremy decided to stay around and help train the girl. Celosia still didn't mention anything to her parent's, first of all beacause either one of them was gonna turn out not being her true parent and the daughter of Aetna wasn't sure she could handle it. Not only that but, how would someone react to news like that? She wasn't going to risk anything and from then on, Celosia and Jeremy trained - getting her ready for any other monster attacks.

Years passed and at some point, Celosia had turned 19 years of age - the two getting by with each others help. While Jeremy did mention camp to the daughter of Aetna she never really showed interest in going and because the son of Apate was madly in love with her, he chose to stay also. Of course, Celosia was oblivious to the fact and just thought he didn't like camp or something. Things were going well and while there was some close calls, the daughter of Aetna was able to keep her identity a secret from her parents. That was until a certain event threw them into their daughters world.

It all happened so fast. Like always, the two encounter a monster but this time it was to much for them. While they might have escaped if they were alone, the kingsly parents were actually around when the cyclopes attack. Celosia, like any daughter would, didn't leave them and tried fighting the monster off. Of course, her paretns weren't go to just stand by and let they're daughter e attack by what ever the mist was making them see so, they jumped in and in the blink of an eye - they were dead. The daughter of Aetna was devastated, not moving an inch and using his anger, Jeremy finished off the beast. Though not before the cyclopes could give the boy some pretty bad internal bleeding. As if it weren't bad enough that Celosia had just lost her parents, she also lost her best friend - who she so happened to be madly in love with.

With the monster gone and having no threat anymore Celosia just wandered. Wander so far and all alone that she came across Artemis and her huntress', joining them as she had nothing else to live for. While she might have been devastated, she wouldn't tarnish the legacy of her parents by killing herself - instead she chose to live for them and them alone. It was from then on that she lived with the hunt and thousands of years went by. Of course because of her status as a huntress, Celosia never aged.

Through the years, Celosia was loyal to her goddess - finding out she was an Aetna child and had even being gifted the memories of her past life. The one's she had from her time in Pompeii. Artemis thought it'd be a nice to gift her those memories for her hard work but, rather than it changing Celosia, it just mad her heart harden more. She was cold, distant and for the most part didn't care for anything but herself and her oath to Artemis. It the year 2018 when the goddess decided to let the girl go. While she love her like a daughter of would have never wanted to see her leave the hunt, Artemis thought it'd be best if Celosia went to CHB to grow and prosper. Yes, while she mave have been able to do that and stay in the hunt, Artemis also realized Celosia would never grow if she was tied down by her Oath - hence why the goddess set her free.

While camp wouldn't have been her first choice to go, Celosia honor her goddess' wishes and went there straight away - officially being claimed as a daughter of Aetna

Powers

Offensive

  1. Children of Aetna have the ability to conjure weapons out of hardened ash which can be used for combat; however only one weapon can be conjured at a time and it cannot be bigger than the one who conjured it.
  2. Children of Aetna are able to increase the kinetic energy of atoms in an opponent’s weapon or their own for a very short amount of time, ranging from bearable temperatures of heat to something too hot for normal people to hold onto without suffering heavy burns. As a child of Aetna they will be unbothered by the heat, but for an opponent it can cause them to drop the weapon or item in hand. If used to disarm an opponent it can only be used once during a battle.

Defensive

  1. Children of Aetna are able to construct armour out of obsidian and molten rock for a short amount of time. Although heavy in nature, while being used as a form of armour the rock is quite light while retaining its durability.
  2. Children of Aetna are able to create a wall made out of molten rock that breaks through the earth. The wall is no larger than 2 to 3 times the size of the user and it can be used to temporarily block attacks.

Passive

  1. Children of Aetna have an innate resistance to heat and hot temperatures as well as fire. Although the effects of burning can set in if in proximity for too long, they generally have a stronger resistance than most. Furthermore, children of Aetna have complete resistance against lava and magma, being unfazed by the liquid's properties.
  2. Children of Aetna are able to survive/adapt to volcanic fields with dormant, active or dead volcanoes. They are able to deal with the extreme temperatures, smoke, noxious gases, hazardous terrain, and various side-effects of eruptions such as superheated gases and lava. When in contact with such gases and smoke they are able to breathe as one normally would without the presence of the fumes.
  3. Children of Aetna are stronger in mountainous, volcanic, and hot locations.
  4. Children of Aetna are able to change the temperature of lava whenever they please without altering the physical state of it. Making it cold to the touch or a temperature that while still hot, doesn’t match the actual temperature of lava. This temperature is as hot as all their lava based powers can get.

Supplementary

  1. Children of Aetna have the ability to absorb heat, magma, and smoke from a nearby source. As the heat or smoke is absorbed into the child of Aetna’s body, they gain energy from the drained element’s source, being able to use it as a temporary power and speed boost. Although only lasting for a short amount of time, it can be used three times in battle.
  2. Children of Aetna have the ability to travel using clouds of smoke, ash, and even magma beneath the surface. The user merges with the element and reforms elsewhere. The further they travel the more energy it drains.
  3. Children of Aetna are able to create a cloud of smoke and ash around them, spreading through their surroundings and potentially distracting their opponents which gives them time to flee or launch an attack.
  4. Children of Aetna have the ability to generate a fair amount of lava and being able to telekinetically move it with their minds. The more lava generated/moved means the more energy drained.
  5. Children of Aetna have the innate ability of being able to heal their own wounds by draining in substantial sources of heat, smoke and magma. Like a campfire. The ability can quickly heal minor wounds and slowly heal major, but not fatal, wounds. The source drained disappears once the user has healed themselves They cannot heal from heat-based attacks from an opponent.

3 Months After Character is Made

  1. Children of Aetna can create a small volcanic eruption with an eruption range of about 10 meters from its source. The eruption releases mass amounts of lava, ash, and smoke. All of which the child of Aetna is immune to. The effects of the eruption vanish after a short time. Using this power is substantially draining.

6 Months After Character is Made

  1. Children of Aetna are able to turn roughly ten meters of their surroundings into a volcanic field by either forming it from nothing or using the existing environment around them and shifting it to their desired form. In doing so they can cause multiple small volcanic eruptions, minor earthquakes, and even the potential for the earth to break apart exposing magma underneath which would cool into stone rather quickly. Using this power is substantially draining.

9 Months After Character is Made

  1. Children of Aetna can transform their body completely into homogenous matter made up of either ash, magma/molten rock, or smoke. Depending on the homogenous matter making up their body, the child takes on different abilities. They can only transform into one form at a time and they cannot maintain it for very long. The user is quite drained after they revert.
    1. If transforming their body into homogenous matter made up of ash, the child of Aetna gains abilities such as; being immune to toxins and disease, removing oxygen from the immediate area, as well as enhanced control over ash, durability, lung capacity, and fire immunity.
    2. If transforming their into homogenous matter made up of magma/molten rock, the child of Aetna gains abilities such as; being immune to toxins and disease, dermal armour, as well as enhanced control over lava/magma/molten rock, durability, endurance, lung capacity, strength, and heat generation.
    3. If transforming their into homogenous matter made up of smoke, the child of Aetna gains abilities such as; being immune to toxins and disease, removing oxygen from the immediate area, near intangibility, flight, as well as enhanced control over smoke, agility, durability, and lung capacity.

Traits

  1. Children of Aetna have been known to have rather fiery and explosive personalities.
  2. Given that Aetna is a volcanic goddess, her children often make great volcanologists.
  3. Children of Aetna often tend to prefer hotter climates as they are able to withstand the heat that comes with it, they can find great comfort in the heat.
  4. Children of Aetna tend to excel at rock climbing, mountain climbing, etc.
  5. Children of Aetna our known to have an affection towards lava and fire, often being pyromaniacs.
