Having been tucked under his mom's love and affection all his life, it's no wonder Cian has been a homesick little puppy ever since coming to Camp Half-Blood. The adjustment has been quite hard for him but he's doing his best to fit in, when he's actually awake that is. Slowly but surely, he knows he'll find his way.
Powers of a Child of Boreas [ 3/6/9 Month Powers not unlocked ]:
Children of Boreas can create an incredibly cold wind around an opponent, the wind will follow them no matter what for a short time. The wind would make the user feel as if it’s 15 degrees (fahrenheit), distracting them and making them vulnerable to attack.
Children of Boreas have the ability to conjure up to ten long lances of ice which can surge forward and impale an opponent.
Children of Boreas have the ability to create a dome shaped torrent of wind, roughly two or three times the size of the user, which can be used to block attacks for a very short time.
Children of Boreas can heal themselves by using ice, absorbing frozen energies which can freeze molecules, renew damaged cells, and also stop bleeding. This can be used to quickly heal minor wounds and slowly heal major, but not fatal, wounds. Ice healing only affects children of Boreas, Khione and Ice/Snow Nymphs as they are the only ones who can draw power from the snow.
Children of Boreas are inherently resistant to the cold, including hypothermia and frostbite.
Children of Boreas are inherently stronger during the winter or on any cold days.
Children of Boreas always emit an aura of coldness, making others around them feel slightly cold. The user can shut it off for a long time if they choose to.
Children of Boreas can turn water into ice or make it severely cold with a cool breeze.
Children of Boreas have the ability to hover or fly, however, the longer they fly the more it drains them.
Children of Boreas can apply the power of 3rd or 4th degree frostbite to an opponent’s weapon, freezing it to the point that it becomes fragile and easily breakable. It only lasts for a short time, after which the weapon reverts to it’s normal temperature.
Children of Boreas can create armor and weaponry out of ice. The larger the size and quantity of the weapons, the more energy is drained. They can also infuse existing weapons with ice in order to make them stronger.
Children of Boreas can call upon the icy winds in order to speed up their movements and attacks.
Children of Boreas can create a hail storm, with up to baseball size hail for a short time. The storm will produce powerful, freezing winds. The hail will fire in whatever direction the user wishes, the user will be somewhat drained once the storm subsides.
Children of Boreas can create an ice dragon lacking wings, a semi-living construct creature of ice that could be called an ice drake, no larger than 2 to 3 times the size of the user, to fight for them for a short time. This drake attacks with frost breath which can damage and freeze opponents. While the Drake is active, the user has a hard time moving and afterwards must rest between making another one.
Children of Boreas can shed their flesh and transform their bodies into pure cold air which grants them temporarily immunity from attacks as well as drastically enhances their current ice powers. This ability only lasts for a short time and the user will be left heavily drained and unable to move for some time and could possibly faint after the ability dissipates.
Children of Boreas are often ambidextrous, a trait they share with Notus' children.
Children of Boreas have a natural preference for places in the Northern Hemisphere, the further North the better. They also prefer anywhere cold in general.
Children of Boreas are naturally skilled at ice fishing.
Children of Boreas make excellent navigators due to their ability to always find North.
Cian has one of two moods that he's almost always in. You can either catch him in his usual state of daze as he's constantly sleepy due to an iron deficiency, or you can catch him being about as energetic as a puppy being brought home for the first time. There isn't a single mean bone in Cian's body, and if tried to get him to do something even slightly wrong he'd back out of the situation and leave.
Whenever he's sleepy, which is almost always, Cian is the calmest person you'll ever meet. Nothing will alarm him and it'll take a lot to make sure he doesn't fall asleep, some have even said he sleeps more than a child of Hypnos. It's a constant struggle for him to keep his eyes open, and most of the time he'll fall asleep in the strangest of places or worst of times. Relying on Cian is a definite gamble as you never know if he'll be awake long enough to go through with plans.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, if you happen to catch Cian at one of the times where he isn't asleep then you're bound to meet an entirely different person. Cian'll be energetic, rambunctious, and full of laughs. He really is the equivalent of a puppy, all he does is play, eat, and sleep. Most importantly sleep. Not to mention he get incredibly attached and overly affectionate rather quickly as well, which only enforces that he's actually a puppy.
Laurie Moon was a young and reckless fifteen year old teenager living in Toronto when her life got flipped upside down forever. Although she had never told Cian the story of how he came to be, it went a little something like this. While Laurie was in high school, she was attending a sorority party hosted by her sister's sorority. It was there that she met the most handsome guy she had ever seen, Nathan. Of course with alcoholic influences around them, it was bound to happen and when the two ended up in bed nobody at the party was surprised.
When Laurie woke up the next morning, there was no signs of Nathan anywhere. Although initially upset, it didn't last long as shortly after the encounter Laurie felt incredibly ill. It was actually her friends idea to take a pregnancy test, which confirmed that Laurie was pregnant. It felt like her entire life was now set up to fail. After a long debate with her parents, Laurie decided to keep the baby. Which eventually lead to the birth of little Cian Moon.
Cian was born premature, which brought on quite a few health complications. He wasn't actually allowed to leave the hospital for a month after being born and even then he had to go back quite often due to different issues. Most of them fixed themselves, however due to an iron deficiency he was always tired. It was just something they couldn't fully fix.
Being so close in age with his mom made it even easier for the two to bond, they were incredibly close. Cian would go everywhere with her, through the rest of high school and even into university for a year before he himself had to go to elementary school. The transition from getting to see his mom all the time to going to school all by himself was hard, and Laurie even contemplated taking him out for a year as he didn't seem to be ready. But eventually Cian warmed up to school, with the help of a new friend named River.
River made adjusting to school a hell of a lot easier, and it's arguably the reason Cian didn't skip the year all together. Life at home was still the same though, he would always cling to his mom despite leaving with his grandparents as well. In a sense his grandparents were more his parents as they were the technical age of ones, where as his mom was more like a sister until they moved out and found their own home in Toronto when Cian was six.
Cian gradually got less clingy towards Laurie, growing older and what not. Around Cian's seventh birthday, Laurie was approached by someone who looked extremely familiar to her. It ended up being Nathan, he informed Laurie of his true identity of Boreas, and explained what was going to take place in Cian's future. Naturally she was skeptical, but when he showed her one of his powers she couldn't help but believe him. After that Laurie couldn't look at her son the same way. He wasn't a monster in her eyes by any means, if anything she wanted to protect him more to avoid the monsters in the future.
To avoid him getting hurt, Laurie pulled him from school and with the help of her parents she paid a plethora of teachers to come to their house to teach him privately. Cian missed the actual school environment, and most importantly he missed his friend River. Cian had gotten sequestered essentially and he wasn't allowed to leave without his mom or one of his grandparents. The only company he was allowed to have was River, who came over quite often when both of them were done with schooling.
The January after his eleventh birthday, one of Cian's teachers had called in saying they wouldn't be coming due to falling ill, and thus they sent over someone who they trusted. Something was off about the teacher from the start, and Laurie could tell. She stayed by Cian the entire lesson and sent him to his room afterwards. All Cian could here from his room was a crash, and after that he heard something large walking towards his room. With quick motions Cian climbed out of the window, just fast enough for him to witness a Cyclops break into his room. He ran as fast as he could to his grandparents' house, and when he arrived the police were called.
When the police arrived there were clear signs of a struggle, but Laurie was nowhere to be found. A search took place for weeks, but she was never found. Cian went back to live with his grandparents, finding comfort in their embrace after losing his mom. Cian was destroyed mentally when the police stopped looking for Laurie, and it was terrible for everyone involved. He didn't want to talk to anyone and he just stayed in his room unless he had to go to school. Of course attacks occurred at school, but he was always able to dodge then through crowds and what not.
His grandparents saw the pain was still prevalent years after, and although they were equally as distraught, things seemed to be hitting Cian way harder. Laurie had told them that Cian's dad was Boreas, and they thought perhaps they could reason with him to help the situation. Boreas was no miracle worker, but he did offer some help. He froze part of Cian's brain, the part that held the memories of his mom, and this somehow tricked his brain into thinking Laurie was just off at university again. It helped greatly, Cian went back to what he used to be like before the incident. Dodging the plethora of phone call requests Cian made, his grandparents did their best to avoid the situation.
Laurie had intentions to send Cian off to Camp Half-Blood when he turned sixteen, and thus the time came in 2017 that his grandparents followed through with her wishes and drove him to camp following a map gifted to them by Boreas. He arrived at camp in November, and upon stepping into the Big House he was claimed by Boreas.
