Notes to Claim Checkers

I'm assuming Physis is like a Demeter/Persephone here. There will be definitely some loose ends that need to be tied up, and you'll be expecting a 2,000+ word long history. I won't be able to edit this within the next 12 hours and so-so, so please don't murder me.

P.S. Hopefully this will be the last claim I'll force you guys to check for the next few months. Cheers.

Basic Info

Caelan Reynard Evenass

♂ Male

Physis and Alaric Evenass

The first word that usually comes into people's minds when they see Caelan is average. He doesn't seem like anything special at first glance. Then people's opinions change.

Caelan's eye color is startlingly unstable and fractured, like a broken kaleidescope's eyepiece. It never seems to stay one color for too long, always shifting rapidly with even the tiniest light differences. Beautiful and unnerving, most people avoid long periods of eye contact with him. His father claimed that his original eye color had been a light hazel, but Caelan isn't too sure. His hair is a dark brown color that seems to shine with life, more so in natural light such as moonlight.

Supposedly, he is the spitting image of his grandfather, though he is quite skeptical of that. He is of a willowy build, and has a fair complexion that seems to tone down his already calm, reserved demeanor. Caelan tends to be attired in mostly dark themed clothing, though it really doesn't exhibit an "emo" type of getup. He isn't a fan of scanty clothing, either. An interesting revelation would be that he enjoys walking around barefoot, especially when surrounded by plant life.

As mentioned, Caelan tends to blend in the background. Implying that he's either as quiet as a dead mouse or he's just really boring.

Well, boring is boring, so he's evidently the former. The guy has a tendency to blend in the background, willing or unwilling. Caelan keeps to himself most of the time, but does speak when necessary. He won't be the conversation starter, but he is able to carry it along. For an introvert, he is quite acquainted with the art of polite conversation. As he is an introvert, he really prefers the company of plants and animals to a human being.

His temper is not easy to spark, and he often reacts to dire situations in an organized, reserved manner. He likely could stay calm while in the vicinity of a nuclear bomb, but I don't think I'm qualified to vouch for that. When his temper does ignite, he rarely ever loses self-control. Surprisingly, Caelan also has an imperceptible streak of rebellion in him. He'll do as he is told, as long as he has a good enough reason to do so.

Having gotten it drilled into his head that the gods are corrupt from an early age, Caelan typically is very wary and mistrusting of most people. Gaining his trust is unambiguously a feat to be proud of.  He has a cynical view on life, and tends to be incredulously sarcastic at times, but never losing the gentle tone.

The second Titanomachy did occur roughly 16 and so so years ago. It was also shortly before that time when 23 year old Rissel Baumeister, son of Hecate, was informed that his wife, whom he had convinced to keep out of the war, had come to the Titan camp with his seven year old son. Rissel, having sided with the Titans, was overcome with worry for his young family. Surely, the child would be a target for the gods' wrath. So Rissel smuggled away his wife and child from the Titan camp, sending her to where the gods could never reach them - Alaska. (This was the reason Lionel, a son of Hermes, tried to kill Rissel for, and Celandia in turn killed Lionel.)

Celine, a daughter of Apollo gifted with the ability to glimpse the future, protested at the proposal, but eventually gave in. She stayed in Alaska for the remaining few months raising her son, Alaric. As soon as she could, she traveled back to New York with her son, only to be devastated at the news: Rissel had died in combat. The Titan war had ended, and it had left many bodies behind. Celine found herself alone with two mouths to feed and a broken heart. Most of the demigod survivors had received amnesty for their actions, and Celine was not an exception.

Fortunately, she somehow found a well-paying job as a hotel clerk in New York. Despite her sudden fortune, Celine could never stop blaming the gods for what had happened to her beloved. Alaric grew up quite normally, being well cared for and loved dearly by his mother. He knew of his mother's parentage, and the mother would occasionally stumble upon a stray monster, which she disposed of quite easily. Celine drilled it into his head that the gods were selfish and had taken his father away from him. He believed this, and held the vendetta against the gods till his death.

Rather ironically, he fell in love with one.

Alaric had grown and mingled well in the mortal world. He was barely 19 when he got his job as a chemical engineer in a big shot company, and his old mother Celine was quietly attended to by a maid. All was well.

That is, until Alaric met Felicity.

He'd been taking a smoke in one of the many public parks in New York when a voice sharply reprimanded him. Surprised, Alaric dropped his cigarette, which unbeknownst to him was snuffed out the moment it touched the grass. He turned, irritated, to come upon a very angry, but beautiful young woman. He didn't notice her almost imperceptibly flicker, or see that the plant design on her clothing were real plants that seemed to be wilting. He didn't notice that her eyes were an odd sort of color, like green plant roots in the murky ground. All thoughts of gods and goddesses went out of his mind and he fell in love.

Alaric dropped smoking and drinking. He began to support environmental causes. He even began promoting the environment friendly products of the company, working on improving them to be more nature based. All while doing so, he kept meeting Felicity in the gardens. The little good he did to the environment allowed Physis to be able to be corporeal for a little longer in New York. So deeply embedded in Alaric's heart was Eros' arrow, that he was completely oblivious of the fact that Felicity was a goddess. It wasn't too long till Physis returned the feelings.

One fateful night, Alaric was sent for by his ill mother. In her dying moments, he held her hand and cried and cursed the gods. For once, grief blocked out any thoughts of Felicity. As he wept like a little child, Celine clung to his hand. She warned him of the many things she'd seen, but mostly focused on one. "I know you fell in love with a goddess, my dear, and I don't blame you for that. Eros' arrow has always been a danger for everyone. Just tell your child...tell him to seek sorrow. Find her."

For one whole month, Alaric grieved for his mother. He kept his mother's last words close to his heart, though he still was a little shaken that he had fallen in love with an enemy. Celine was buried with a peaceful expression on her face, hoping she could be reunited with her beloved in the Underworld. After a month, Alaric remembered Felicity. He rushed to the gardens, and lo behold, she stood there amidst the plants. In her arms she cradled a baby swaddled in a white blanket. For the first and the last time, Alaric realized she was flickering. Physis introduced herself, her real self, and handed the baby to the stunned man. She sadly explained that Alaric's last ditch efforts and love for her were the only things that had stopped her from completely leaving New York. But their love was now marred by Alaric's grief, and it was no longer enough power to keep her there. "I regret nothing, and I hope you do the same."

One last lingering kiss, and Physis departed, leaving a shell-shocked Alaric and a sleeping child.

Alaric named his son Caelan, and he cared for the child as dearly as his mother did to him. Caelan was a quiet child, and Alaric had remarkably little trouble with raising his son. The two were close, and Caelan grew up knowing that his mother was a goddess.

One thing that Alaric quickly realized about Caelan was that the boy had a fondness for nature. Pretty natural (pun not intended), seeing as his mom was a nature goddess after all. Alaric earned quite a fair bit of dough, so he and Caelan moved to a nice country style home, and Alaric had a greenhouse built. Little Caelan spent as much time as he could with the plants, and they seemed to flourish in his presence. The gardener taught him all about plants, and by the time Caelan was old enough to attend school, he had already a vast knowledge of nature.

Meanwhile, Alaric drilled into Caelan what Celine had drilled into him - the gods needed to be overthrown. That was the start of everything.

When he turned 8, Caelan had begun to develop his demigod abilities. He'd been diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD, a common trait of demigods. That was when Alaric began to fear for him.

Caelan had average grades. He wasn't too interested in sports. But he was a nature lover, always silently joining in campaigns for global warming awareness, and all that stuff. The bullies ignored him, seeing as he blended into the background a little too well and often they forgot he was even there. Caelan didn't mind.

During the times after school, he'd immediately set out for the greenhouse. He had no friends for company, all he had was the old gardener and his dad. It was wonderful, moving plants to their designated plots and simply reveling in the wonders of nature. Life was good for several years.

Caelan had silent birthdays, only made known by a large cake and presents from his dad. He got awfully suspicious on his 12th birthday, easily seeing through his dad's nervous movements. When questioned, Alaric denied that anything was wrong and hurried off to work. Caelan shrugged it off and went through his daily schedule as per usual. It was at the greenhouse when everything went horribly, dramatically wrong.

Caelan was chatting with Michel just outside the greenhouse, discussing plants in general. That was when an insane, totally out of place horse's hooves were heard. Upon quick observation, both males realized that it was practically breathing fire. Obviously, they ran for the greenhouse, locking the door behind them. Fat lot of good THAT did.

As Michel explained that he was a satyr, Caelan managed to keep his cool. He was well aware of his heritage and the gods existing. Then the horse busted open the door, charged in, and nearly stampeded over the gardener and demigod. Pure common sense that it began shooting fire everywhere, deleting the precious plants out of existence as it did so. Michel kicked off his pants to free his hooves, and a terrified Caelan helplessly watched as the horse destroyed his haven.

Then Caelan froze as the horse swiveled around and burned the old satyr to a crisp. He watched as the old man crumpled, his bones already weak from old age, and turned into a small daisy. For the first time in his life, Caelan felt something loosen the knots in his stomach. For the first time, he felt the taste of grief glow white hot and turn into a wicked sharp point of anger that bubbled and boiled inside him...

And the cement broke apart with an impulsive thrusting out of the boy's arms, the earth cracking beneath and swirling into a pretty nice-size tornado for a 12 year old. The greenhouse was already ravaged from the horse's fiery rampage, and the snug haven collapsed from the strain of holding a tornado made of earth. It collapsed on an exhausted Caelan and a very surprised horse who promptly disintegrated.

And then there was silence.

Caelan woke up in a hospital bed with remarkably non-critical injuries. After a week upon coming back to the living, he was allowed to check out of the hospital with just a few bandages. He also was informed that his father, in desperation of digging him out of the rubble that was once their greenhouse, had severely injured himself. Alaric had suffered a broken leg, a dislocated shoulder, and a minor concussion. Much against the protests of the fire fighters, who had arrived at the scene shortly after the collapse, Alaric had run in with no protective gear and dragged his son out of there. A remaining roof beam had fallen and injured him just right after managing to get the unconscious Caelan out of harm's way. Confined to the hospital for a minimum of several months, Alaric told Caelan to head for a house of one of Celine's former comrades' children and stay there.

Albeit unwillingly, Caelan packed his things and obeyed. The house had been two cab rides away, and Caelan met Amatis Gladstone, demigod daughter of Nemesis. She sat him down, and explained her connection to his family - Celine and Rissel had saved her stepmother's life once, and she never got to repay it. But now Amatis could do it in her stead.

Amatis pushed Caelan to his limits, training him to his fullest, both in terms of his powers and physical prowess. With two demigods, they tended to attract more monster attention, which was perfect for training. This went on for a long time, and once Alaric was allowed to leave the hospital, he insisted that Caelan stay with Amatis to continue his training. Visits tended to frequent both homes, and Alaric got over Physis and fell in love with Amatis. The latter reciprocated, and they were married, much to Caelan's delight.

They all moved back to Alaric's house, and to Caelan's surprise, a new greenhouse had been built in the place where the first had fallen. His love of nature renewed, Caelan's time consisted of tending to the plants, spending time with his parents, training, and going to high school. Truthfully, the latter was definitely the hardest. Nothing says annoying more than a bunch of squealing cheerleaders sitting next to you all day long. Six years passed with no terrible tragedies happening. Of course, attacks were steady and relentless with two aware demigods frequenting the same house, but the unexpected visitors were kept at bay with moderate ease. Caelan kept the daisy that once had been Michel the satyr, which Alaric had retrieved from the wreckage.

The day after Caelan's eighteenth birthday, Alaric confided into him and Amatis Celine's cryptic, final request: "find sorrow." Amatis immediately recalled her stepmother's tale of one of the former demigod lieutenants of Kronos turning remorseful shortly after the war. A half-sibling of Rissel's, she recalled, and one who had once saved Rissel's life. Legend said that the demigod had fallen into a comatose state in a recently turned city in the US. In fact, Amatis' mother possessed the lieutenant's diary, and it had been passed down to Amatis.

Wanting to go, Caelan's parents realized they could not stop him. With his weapons (an egg beater that turned into a Celesttial bronze whip or scythe and a shock stick of his grandpa Rissel's), the diary, and other essential things, Caelan went to try and grant his deceased grandmother's final wish.

It didn't take long to find the girl. Caelan read through the diary somewhat reluctantly, and found enough clues to figure out where the girl rested. Upon arriving in the city, he found the sleeping body with unbelievable ease. Unfortunately, it was, well, still sleeping. Caelan rented a hotel room and stayed there for a week. Then he encountered a group of BC demigods.

He had been fending off a pack of hellhounds on his own when an arrow flew out of nowhere, plunged into a gaping maw, and disintegrated the annoying monster. Caelan blinked in surprise as a few other people joined him in disposing of the beasts. After the fight, the one who he supposed to be the leader demanded if he was from Camp Half-blood. Caelan naturally knew about the place - Amatis had stayed there for a while before leaving. He responded truthfully, and the group relaxed.

They told him of the Broken Covenant, and he was somewhat interested. When questioned on why he was out there on his own, he explained that he was waiting for that sleeping girl to wake up. Nevertheless, they invited him to join them for dinner, and coincidentally they were in the same hotel. The following day, Caelan went to where the girl rested, but was stunned to find nothing. She had woken up and went off somewhere. The BC members caught up with him as he was checking out of the hotel, determined to find the girl. The members, who had just finished a mission and were heading back, offered to help him if he came with them. Seeing as Celandia Breen was in fact a former rebel demigod, it made sense to Caelan that she'd somehow be found by the BC at one point. Agreeing, he came with them.

Abilities and Equipment

  • ADHD: Caelan has ADHD, a common trait among demigods. This gives him inborn supernatural senses and reflexes superior to that of a mortal's, likely including being able to see through the Mist.
  • Dyslexia: With dyslexia, another common trait among demigods, Caelan's brain is hardwired to Ancient Greek, giving him a better grasp on the language than mortals.
  • Fighting skills: Trained by Amatis, a Nemesis demigod and his stepmother, Caelan proves to be extremely skilled in the ways of combat.
    • Whip Wielding: His primary weapon being a whip, Caelan is deadly creative in using one in combat. It might not pack much of a punch, but it is perfect for making adversaries trip.
    • Marksmanship: Amatis, being a prodigy with projectiles, taught more than just a few tricks to her stepson. Caelan is pretty adept with projectile weapons if it comes to that.
    • Swordsmanship: Hey, you have to at least learn HOW to bop someone over the head. Or you'll never survive. Caelan is merely decent at using his scythe, but he's good enough with it to know how to not slice his own head off. On a more serious note, he's decent at it.
  • Botanical Knowledge: As a child of Physis, Caelan is greatly smitten with nature. He learned quite a lot from Michel before the latter died, and continues with a renewed interest to expand his Latin domain.

-insert abilities that don't really need to be listed yeah-

  • General:
    • Celandia's Diary: Celandia's old diary that Amatis' stepmother, whom had been traveling with her, acquired after she fell into a coma-like state. Passed down to Amatis, and now in Caelan's possession.
    • Michel Daisy: When Michel, the satyr gardener, died, he was instantaneously reincarnated into a daisy, which Alaric recovered from the greenhouse wreckage and gave to Caelan, knowing the two were close.
  • Weapons:
    • Egg Beater: An egg beater that transforms into either a whip or a scythe, depending on how it is spun. They are both of Celestial bronze, though maybe the egg beater disguise isn't exactly inconspicuous. Given to Caelan by Amatis, who has a collection of weapons.
    • Shock Stick: An old weapon of Rissel Baumeister's, given to him by his half-sister Celandia. Symbols cover the surface of the stick, looping the electrical magic contained within to give a shock. Though it causes very little damage (makes hair stand up and jangles nerves), a good whack muddles concentration of the opponent, which is honestly really useful because concentration is typically needed for some powers to be used. Each shock lasts a mere moment before wearing off.

Preferred Faction: Ortu Justitae

Ideology: Caelan believes that it's time his family stopped staying neutral, and intends to join the fray once more. Due to the family prejudice against the gods, he doesn't believe that the gods deserve a voice anymore, thus cutting out Civitas. As he thinks mortals and demigods are pretty much equal, seeing as both parties have suffered in the hands of the gods, Opus and Liberi don't really match his ideals. He's pretty sure Veritum is a little too extreme, with the whole "NO MORE RULERS" thing. From reading through Celandia's diary, he believes Ortu may be the faction she'd join if that was the case. He's heard that the faction tends to ally itself with mortals, meaning more opportunities to go out to the mortal world.

After reading this history I have to say I dont think any company would let any kid under 18 to work with them. Regardless of how smart they are as there's this thing we call 'protection law' which means no kid can work (unless its an unethical stuff).

Another thing that bothers me is the daisy ...what do you mean he was reincarnated?? Is he a spirit???

Oh, yeah, that. I forgot to edit that part >3< Fixing it now. As for the satyr, he was reincarnated into a daisy. Satyrs don't have souls, like monsters, but they're a gentler nature type of monster who serve the gods. In the books, if a satyr died, they were reincarnated into a piece of nature (a bush, a patch of flowers, etc.) It's just sort of a reminder on how cruel the gods can be (in Caelan's pov anyway) even to their own servants.

ok I guess I can accept the age now (even if it seems illogical to me but hey its just me) Still answer me this....with the satyrs turning into a daisy does that mean the daisy is immortal? How does he carry it around? I'm sorry but that fact bothers me ><

Oh, that was never really specified so I'm guessing it's not immortal xD He carries it around in like a plant pot.

[Given permission to check this claim by Melon] Heyya, Omni~ I'll be your claim checker for today~

  • Between those six years that passed with no terrible tragedies happening, you could just summarize something like "There were some minor monster encounters but Caelan was able to fend it off thanks to Amatis training him.. blah blah" because it's still possible for monsters to smell the scent of Caelan.

EzghadWOFSig"They are the food and we are the hunters!"  —EzEzghadWOFSig

Oh, Amatis and Caelan never stopped training. Since both were aware demigods, attacks were twice as many x3 I'll edit that in, thanks.
