Name: Abhimanyu ("Abhi") Singh

Age: 15

Gender: Male

God Parent: Apollo

Mortal Parent: Poonam Singh. She is descended from the legendary Lunar Dynasty of India. Her branch of the Dynasty, in particular, has been involved with the "other world" for millennia. In fact, one of Poonam's ancestors married a Greek lady demigod of unknown parentage. That makes her family members legacies. Thus, Poonam and her family members are clear-sighted. Her family has inherited a special Celestial Bronze sword and Celestial Bronze arrows, enchanted further with magic by Indian priests.

Appearance: Height 5'9", lean, muscular, dark brown skin, black hair, brown eyes. Has a tattoo of a rising Sun on his forehead. Wears a crescent moon-shaped amulet around his neck.

General demigod traits: Abhi has only a mild case of ADHD. He becomes quite restless when he feels strong emotions. He doesn't have dyslexia. He was able to attend school till the age of ten, and didn't face particularly severe learning difficulties. As a result, Abhi isn't as naturally gifted in terms of speed and instinct, as most demigods. However, he tries to make up for it with training and his hard work.

Personality: Abhimanyu is a friendly person, like his mother. He likes to meet new people and learn more about them. He passionately tries to learn more about different languages, cultures, viewpoints and religions. Coming from a fairly conservative society, Abhi hasn't had enough exposure to the LGBTQ community. He tries to learn more about them as well. Heck, he even likes to chat with friendly monsters and immortals to understand their background.

Abhi is helpful by nature. His mother and grandparents have impressed upon him to help those who are in trouble. As a result, Abhi speaks out if he sees something happening that he feels is wrong. However, he doesn't actively interfere unless he feels it is necessary.

His grandparents have made Abhi work hard from a young age. The experience has made him more humble. He is willing to accept his mistakes if someone else points them out.

Abhi loves music of all kinds. He keeps humming beautiful tunes he has heard, to himself. He is also passionate about archery. He tries to read up ancient manuals on archery, from various cultures, so that he can become a better archer. Abhi wants to make his father Apollo and his (claimed) maternal ancestor, the fabled archer Arjuna, proud. He hopes to decipher the secrets of the 'special' arrows and sword that his mother gave him.

History: Poonam had come to an American university to study literature, mainly of Indian and other ancient mythologies. She had also been a state-level archer. She met Apollo there. He fell in love with her. He liked her willingness to explore others' points of view and her passion for learning about other mythologies. Apollo followed her back to India. He introduced himself to her as an Indian army soldier. He claimed that he would shortly be posted at the Pakistan border in Kashmir.

Soon, Poonam fell in love with Apollo as well. One thing led to another, and Poonam became pregnant. When her parents came to know about this, they were angry that she hadn't informed them about her love affair. However, Apollo himself came and pleaded with them to take good care of their daughter and her son.

Apollo was forced to reveal his true nature to Poonam and her parents to make them understand why he couldn't stay with her. Then he "left for good", promising that he would keep watching over his son.  Nine months after that, Abhi was born. The family made up a story that the boy's father had been killed in cross-border firing.

Abhi had a great early childhood. His family showered him with love.  They made sure that he rarely missed his father. His Maa (mother) and grandparents told him many interesting stories from Indian as well as Greek mythology. Abhi studied North Indian (Hindustani) classical music as well.

A few times,Abhi would see his friends with their fathers and ask, "Maa, where is my Papa (father)?" His mother would quietly take him to one corner and tell him, "Beta (child), your Papa is watching you all through the day. Whenever you miss him, just look up at the sky and the Sun. You will feel better."

However, the young boy wondered why every big bug wanted to bite him. The flies, mosquitoes and ants approaching him would be much bigger than normal. But his friends at school wouldn't notice that. (The ants were probably malicious little Myrmekes. The flies and mosquitoes were probably automatons that had gone rogue.)

Abhi's destiny started to catch up with him after he turned ten. A big scorpion almost bit him. It was the rainy season. The scorpion had begun trailing him when he was returning home in the rain. Thankfully, his mother noticed the danger and pulled Abhi out of harm's way. Then she quickly ran to the store room and came back with a curved bronze sword having a leather grip. She killed the scorpion with it.

His mother hugged him tightly and cried, "O mera pyara bachcha (my dear child)! You are safe!". Abhi was very shocked, but still asked his Maa why she had to draw an sword, that too an old one, to kill a scorpion. She told him that it was their ancestral sword - a special sword to fight special enemies.

Abhi's family now began to worry for their child's safety. They called many pandits (priests) and carried out many pujas (rituals) to pray that harmful forces wouldn't affect their child. They decided to home-school him, against enormous societal pressure. They would insist that he be back at home before 8 in the night.

Eventually, his mother revealed to Abhi that his father was a character from the Greek myths, but didn't reveal his name. Abhi was equal parts shocked and excited. He was slightly saddened when he realised that his Papa could not visit him very often, due to his special situation.

One day, when Abhi was 11, he had been playing with his friends in a field. The time was 7 pm. Abhi had to hurry back home. Suddenly, a woman came out from a nearby poultry shop, with four chickens. As he watched, they all transformed into half-human, half-chicken monsters. Harpies. They were fast. They had wings and talons. Abhi didn't have any weapon with him. The harpies began teasing him, and telling how they would eat him and drink his blood.

But he got a crazy idea. He went closer to the shop and picked up five eggs. With unbelievable speed and accuracy, he hit all the harpies in the eyes with the eggs. As they tried to remove the yolk out of their eyes, Abhi bolted as fast as he could. He ran into his home, and breathed easy. His home was protected by magical charms, good enough to ward off harpies. Then he told his mother and grandparents about the incident.

Soon after, Abhi's family started his training in archery, swordfighting and martial arts, for self-defence. Abhi's mother gave him a crash course on Celestial Bronze and monsters. (It turns out that Apollo had left a few Celestial Bronze arrows for his son.)   As a result, Abhi grew more confident about facing monsters. His grandfather taught Abhi about his responsibilities as a warrior and a descendant of warriors. From then, Abhi would always carry a bow and a quiver of Celestial Bronze arrows, hidden in a backpack, whenever he went outside.

As Abhi grew older, more and more monsters began to attack him. At 12, he once visited an anthill to pray for his good luck. Some huge ants came out of it. They unexpectedly spat acid towards Abhi and missed his face by an inch. The acid still hit Abhi's arms and chest. It took a few weeks for him to fully recover from the poison and the pain.

When Abhi was 13, the harpies who had attacked him two years ago, attacked him again outside his home. This time, he was ready with his bow and quiver. He ran to a secluded area, till where the harpies chased him. Then he shot them all down in seconds, before anyone could see. He retrieved the arrows and hurried back home, as he had been trained to do.

One day, when Abhi was 14, his mother had sent him to buy some grocery items. On the way to the market, he saw a strange sight. The place was eerily quiet. Many persons were bowing down to three strangely dressed women. The persons seemed to be afraid for their life. The women told them, "Give us all your valuables, or we will kill you."

When Abhi had a closer look at the women, he noticed that they had forked tongues, slitted eyes, and scaly skin. He realised that they were Scythian dracaenae. They were pretending to be naagins (snake-women, much respected and feared) from Indian mythology. They were taking advantage of the innocent persons' beliefs to make some quick money. Abhi's grandfather had told him that he should help those who are in trouble. He walked up to the dracaenae.

Abhi told them, "What you are doing is wrong. Leave them alone. Pick on someone that can fight you." The dracaenae laughed, and responded, "Ha! Typical arrogant half-blood. Stay within your limits. We will kill you in seconds, boy." Abhi retorted, "Really? Why don't you try?" The dracaenae stopped smiling. Abhi told the other persons to run away, which they quickly did.

The dracaenae drew one knife each. and lunged at him.  Abhi, who was pretty fast, managed to leap some distance backwards to avoid them. He fired three arrows at the three monsters in quick succession. Each one pierced the heart of its target. The dracaenae disintegrated into dust. Thankfully for Abhi, no one saw him killing those women. He retrieved the arrows for later reuse, and hurried back home.

Finally, about a month ago, (he was 15), Abhi came to know about Camp Half-Blood. He had again gone to the market to buy some groceries. He encountered a big group of monsters - four dracaenae and five harpies. They said, "You are acting up too much, boy. Let's show you your real aukaat" (Hindi word meaning social status). Then with a loud cry, they fell upon him together. Abhi realised he was outmatched, and ran for his life. As he was running away, Abhi bumped into a tourist.

The new man seemed to have a walking problem. He also seemed to be able to see the monsters. He said in an American accent, "Stand back, kid." Then he pulled out a sword from his backpack. Abhi realised that the man was special. The man ran forward and engaged the dracaenae. Abhi brought down the harpies with a quick volley of arrows. Meanwhile, the man killed three dracaenae. Abhi took down the last one. The man said, "Hi kid. I am Jeff Bush. I am a satyr - half man, half goat. You're special. You need to be taken to a safe place."

Abhi invited Jeff to his home. Jeff told the family about Camp Half-Blood, and its director, Alexander the Great. Jeff told them that her son needed to stay in camp. It would be safer for him.  Grandpa Singh became worried. After all, his ancestor Puru (Porus) had fought Alexander. Would that Yunani  (Hindi word for 'Greek') be too harsh on their boy? After much resistance, they finally accepted Jeff's proposal.

Jeff was able to pull some strings and arrange a visa for America and two flight tickets, very fast. Abhi packed his bags for America. His mother gave him the ancestral sword. She asked him to keep it as a lucky charm. She also gave some arrows, which she claimed to be divine weapons. Then, ten days ago, Abhi bid farewell to his family, with a heavy heart, and left for America with Jeff.

Abhi and Jeff landed at the John F Kennedy International airport and arranged transport till Delphi Strawberry Service. They were dropped at a nearby location. They started walking towards Half-Blood Hill. They were passing by a small creek when a group of telkhine thugs came up to them. They made racist remarks about Abhi and threatened to beat him up. They also pulled out swords and chains. Abhi pulled an arrow out of his quiver. It was an arrow his father had left for him. He noticed a net-like marking on the shaft. He calmly nocked the arrow, instinctively uttered a chant, and released the arrow. It turned into a net and trapped the telkhines.

As the screaming telkhines were tearing the net apart, Abhi and Jeff ran towards Half-Blood Hill and crossed into the Camp. Abhi met the Ares kids patrolling the border, who took him to the lake. Immediately, a shining harp appeared above his head. Abhimanyu Singh had been claimed by Apollo, god of poetry, archery, prophecy, healing and the sun.  Abhi realised that he was special : partly "solar" and partly "lunar".

Alexander the Great came up to Abhi and said, "Welcome to Camp Half-Blood, Indikos (Indian). It is always a pleasure to meet a descendant of king Porus. Make yourself comfortable, child of Apollo."

Abhi has been in the camp for one week.

Weapons: Abhimanyu prefers a bow and arrow. Bow is medium size, strong string. Has a quiver of arrows, mainly made by Hephaestus cabin. He also has some Celestial Bronze arrows and a Celestial Bronze talwar sword given by his mother. She claims their ancestors went to war with these weapons. She has asked him to keep the weapons as a good luck charm and use them only when really necessary.

Heya, I'm Frost, a Helper around here. I'll be the one looking over your form today, so let's see what happens...

  • How old is he? Nine and older is the required limit for camp.
  • Three parents are not required anymore. And Helios wouldn't be allowed for regular campers as is, he would be a BC, which is something you can only get when you're a level three.
  • Please write at least a paragraph for personality.
  • Normally gods are allowed to stay for at least a month after the baby's born, but revealing location of camp directly is known as divine intervention. They can reveal it in a letter or a dream, but directly saying location is not allowed.
  • Most first attacks happen at the age of twelve-thirteen. Fourteen is allowed if there's a good enough reason. Please change the age of first attack.
    • Another thing about attacks is that one happens at least every month to every year. Please add more attacks invovled.
  • Is Purnima a Clear-Sighted Mortal? If so, please add that in.
    • If not, please change what she would have seen the Harpy to. Maybe a falcon attacking Abhimanyu is what she saw?
  • Chiron and Mr. D are no longer at camp. Instead it is Alexander the Great.
  • What happened once he got to America? Did he get attacked more?
    • The longest a camper can be at camp in a forum is two weeks for GodModding purposes. Please state exactly how long he's been at camp.

And that's all I noticed so far! So fix/add those things I pointed out, and then I'll come back and check it out. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by using the name on my signature. - User Left

hi there I'm mel and I'll be your claim checker today! I hope you dont mind *passes cookies and milk* have a drink while I do the work ;)

  • I have a question and please sorry if this is rude. How isolated is your char cause considering how india have the highest density of people how can this harpy continue on surviving and tormenting your char? (please do tell I want that sort of dedication for my work...) still if your just using this as a reason to "go pass" the "one monster per year" rule I have good news! Forum:The Monster Encyclopedia/Light Monsters this is a link for you pick a monster and have fun with it)
  • I'm fine with apollo marrying the mom (some may not so be warn and pray (HARD (kidding...(or am i?))) either way my issue is the period...you notice how many kids the god have right? so you can see my issue here... plus wont you think anyone would notice him while he is "gone"
  • Please mention how long he had been on camp ground (cause we have a 2 weeks rule where a char cant stay for longer than 2 weeks)

welp thats all the problem I see good luck and see you soon :)

Annyoung <3 My name is Audrey. Let me pause my kdrama real quick... Alright!

  • So, this is a tiny little detail that could pretty much be considered a nitpick buuuuutttt telkhines need to be near a water source for fighting. You don't need to change anything major—just maybe include if the road they were traveling on is near a lake/river/creek/some type of water source.

Signature image "Chase me, catch me if you can... Chase me, yes, find me..."

Hallo there! I'm Winter, pleased to meet you ;)

  • In contrast to what Mel said above, gods do not marry mortals (per rule), especially Apollo (he vowed to never marry, right?).
  • The ancestral weapons, since they could kill monsters, are made of Celestial bronze, I assume. Please state that they are so.
  • After a monster attack, more and more of them will come, so usually there is monster (could be more than that) attack or encounter each year that passes before arrival in Camp. I see there are attacks, but what about when he was eleven years old, right after his first?
  • I'm pretty sure harpies aren't the type to back down easily (especially if its just eggs and speed).
  • He started training after his first attack, or am I wrong? Well, he is indeed a son of a god of archery, but it still needs time to get it perfectly, or let's say, precisely. Can two or three years hone that much (like nocking 3 arrows simultaneously and hitting their home accurately)?
  • Another bit about the weapons (though this is a minor thing), the arrow during his fight with telekhines turned to a net - is that one of the arrows Apollo left him? Or some other kind of thing (explainable thing, please)?

That is all and see you again! :)

Tsum, tsum, tsum, tsum . . .My studio!

SEEE I TOLD YOU SOMEONE WOULD RAISE UP THE MARRIAGE THING!

(hah I was right!)

anyhow with that out of the way look down for your comment
