Name: Astrid Sara Faye
God Parent: Melinoe, Lyssa, Nemesis
Mortal Parent: Mathew FayeAppearance: Lili Maria Lassen
Astrid is moody, as you may call her. Usually, because of her unfortunate past, she can be gloomy and melancholy, lurking in the shadows, never wanting to be seen by others. She is quite a lonely girl, with loneliness as her only friend.
Once you meet Astrid, she'll have mood swings, first sad, then mad, then, rarely, joyous. She will be awkward at first, but don't forget, she has never had a friend or a person to talk to since her dad.
If anyone brings up her past, she either walks away, steaming mad or hurts them. She hates it, like she hates the gods. Some are confused, saying, "Why isn't she in the BC, if she doesn't like the gods?" Their questions are never answered. The reason is because it's because of her dad. He made her swear she would go and stay safe there, since she loved him, she did it. As you can see, she will do anything for someone she loves, even go to a place and stay with people who worship things ,whom she worships as well, she doesn't necessarilly like at all.
Parents' Meeting: Mathew Faye was a handsome bachelor, living in California with great wealth when he had heard his uncle, Gregory, had passed on to the next life. This greatly saddened Mathew, since he and his uncle had a very close relationship together. When he was a child, his father killed his mother while he was drunk and angry, believing she had cheated on him with his best friend , and his uncle took him, caring for him with all his love.
At the funeral, Mathew shared a few words about his bond with Uncle Greg, starting to cry at the end. He lingered in the graveyard for an hour after the ceremony, ignoring the rain that was pouring down, just wanting to be with his uncle. His dedication to his loved one attracted a lady by the name of Maya. Maya ran into the storm and told Mathew to come into the funeral house with her. He gave in because, one, he was starting to get really cold, two, this woman looked fascinating to him, her off-white and dark clothing, her bleach blonde hair and natural makeup style made her look like a ghost.
No one was in the house, leaving the two of them alone. While Mathew dried, Maya started up a conversation with him. They hit it off and found out that they had many things in common. Mathew then asked for her number, the start of a relationship. After many months of dating, they decided to "do it". The next week, Maya found out she was pregnant with child. Mathew rejoiced and threw a huge party at his estate. That morning, Maya was nowhere to be found. After putting up a search and not finding her, the officials said she simply "vanished". Mathew never gave up hope and remained single, in case Maya came back to him.
Astrid's Birth: One night, August 3, about 4 months after Maya vanished, Mathew was working at home and his doorbell rang. He opened it to find a black and white basket with a baby girl inside. A note was safely tucked into the cloth inside. It read, Mathew, I'm greatly sorry for leaving you. I had to leave for a reason I cannot name. Here is our daughter. Name her whatever, just love her and send her to a camp, Camp Half-Blood, a place for children like her (the address is below). I love you. With Love, Maya. P.S. Please love someone else. I'm sorry, but we just can't be together.
Early Life: Astrid was greatly loved by her father. She loved to play in his office while he worked and they loved to play games with each other. Their time together faded when she was about five, and Mathew had to work more, he hired a sitter for his daughter. Astrid went to private school every year. She was an outcast and she didn't fit into any group at school. No one liked her and every one thought she was a creep. Her classmates called her names and played unfair pranks on her. She hated going to school, and usually faked sick. When she was 6, she held a birthday party, but no one came. She started to cut sometimes, when she was eleven, and wanted to end it all. Olivia made it worse. Mathew, when Astrid was 12 married a woman by the name of Hannah, who had snobby and arrogant daughter named Olivia. Olivia teased Astrid every day at home, yet acted like an angel in front of their parents.
Mathew got Astrid a dog the next year. It was a small beagle whom seemed to understand Astrid. Astrid learned to ignore Olivia's tauntings, and she finally felt happy.
First Monster Attack: When Astrid was thirteen, Christmas Eve to be exact, a knock on the door came. Mathew opened it and came in an harpy. The harpy immediately went for Astrid, but her father knocked over the table making an obstacle for the monster. Mathew, who thought the harpy was a crazed drug addict, took her hand and lead her out, just as the Christmas tree was knocked over onto a tray of candles, setting the place on fire, and trapping the harpy under the tree's great weight. The tree also injured one of the harpy's wings. The harpy was killed, but Olivia and Hannah were still inside. Mathew had to save them, but before he went, he told Astrid to swear she would go to Camp Half-Blood. She had learned about camp from the stories Mathew had told about her mother. Maya had told him how the children that went there loved it there and stories about kids she knew that went there; Mathew had told them to Astrid as bedtime stories though Astrid believed she wouldn't fit in there either. She swore and he went back into the burning house, and didn't come back out.
Getting to Camp: She left, and stayed in different motels along the way. Astrid realized her father had stuffed in her pocket the note left by her mother and a big amount of essential money that she saved, and bought much needed things, like clothes and other stuff. Having been questioned that she was too young to be staying all alone, she bribed the owners with some of her money. She departed for Camp, with the address her mother left for her father after she was born. Astrid realized it would help if she were to hail a cab, but when she tried, she couldn't get one, since being the quiet person she was, didn't have the loud voice and was usually pushed over by the busy people looking for a cab. She realized she would have to go on her own, with no means of modern transportation, since she didn't trust anybody at that moment. She made demigod friends along the way, who helped her survive and she learned how to use a Machete, which she had received from another demigod who had it as a spare. When she met demigods like her, she talked to them learning more about the gods, Camp, and Olympus, yet there would always be a monster attack killing her allies and leaving Astrid to escape. While traveling to camp, hungry and tired, coming from California, she stopped at the Lotus casino, for about a year and a half, before being rescued by a group of questing demigods. She escaped with their help, and departed back on her way. Astrid didn't want to disturb the questors as they were on a quest so she left by herself. She finally made it to Half-Blood hill after a year, and currently lives there. She is fifteen years old.
Weapons: Celestial Bronze Machete
- How did the house get set on fire?
- I don't think an untrained demigod could dodge an empousa, nor could someone outrun one
So her current age is 13?
It took her two years to get to camp, so she's fifteen.
Why would it take two years to get to camp? Where was she starting from that she was that far away? This isn't the dark ages, travel doesn't take that long any more, I mean you can fly across the world in a day depending on lay overs.
She stayed at Lotus casino for two and a half years, and the other half she came to camp in.
So how did she get the resources to get from Nevada to NYC and how did she know which direction to go?
She was helped by fellow demigods along the way, whom she stole with and they themselves knew the way. Also, she had the directions her mother gave her father, and she asked people along the way.
Exactly how much time passed between Melinoe's departure and Astrid being delivered to the father?
It was about ten months.
10 months is a bit to long for a goddess usually it is 5 months or less.
Usually it takes 9 months for a baby to be born, and I thought it was the same for goddesses.
If I'm understanding you correctly, Astrid was at the Lotus Casino for one and a half years, and then arrived at camp half a year later; therefore making her trip from her house to camp two years in total. Is this the case? If you could clarify, that would be great.
Yes, that is the case.
Please explain where she got the resources to survive for the two year trip, and it should be ready to go.
She stole and made demigod friends along the way, and she learned how to use a Machete.
Okay, I will ask an admin to review this claim
Got it, thanks!
Just a few more things. If you could add in why Matthew's father killed his mother, that would be great. Then, if you could also add in a bit more to her early childhood, that would be most appreciated. Try adding in specific events at certain ages. Then, why would Matthew set his house on fire when he knew his wife and step-daughter were still inside? Next, if Matthew was clear-sighted, why didn't he realize that "Maya" was a goddess? I would suggest simply scratching the part where he's a clear-sighted mortal and just have the Mist conjure up a different image of the empousa for him. Next, how could Astrid stay in motels when she had nothing on her other than the clothes on her back? Where exactly did Astrid live that she would come across the Lotus Casino? Lastly, kindly specify her current age in the history.
How would the father be able to start a "worldwide search" for one woman? It seems a bit excessive >.<
Oh, just noticed that.
There are some things in this that don't seem right, it seems unlickly that Mathew would react and move fast enough to get passed the empousia and flip a tabl; An empousia could most likely break the table; Mathew wouldn't just take hold of her hand after doing somethine already much more djurastic such as flipping a table; What exactly knocked over the Christmas tree? If it was the Empousia did Mathew not notice the fire starting?; How was an empousia not able to escape the fire if a mortal and a little girl could? Later in the claim where the monsters could apparently kill trained demigods, it would be unlikely that she could escape herself.

I am a Helper :3
The empousa was trapped inside the house, and Mathew and Astrid got out quickly. And she would have been able to kill the monster with the help of the dead demigods, who would have weakened the monster before dying.
Can you explain how the empousia got trapped?
The big Christmas tree fell on her.
You're almost there, I just have a few key points to clarify. :) How did she get the address to camp, as her late father had it? I'm not sure that motels would let kids without supervision rent a room, it seems a bit absurd. If she had money on her, why not just get a cab or some other transport to get to New York? Where did she get the machete from? You're saying she went into the a Lotus Casino, but why exactly would she go without any reason?
Okay! :) I hope that helps!
Of all the days in her life, why choose Chrismas to discreetly give her the address to camp? By those odds, he could have stashed the address everyday, which she surely would have noticed. Why didn't her father take her to camp earlier? Then again, she could but a bus ticket or something of the likes, which wouldn't require her having to really search that much. The question also remains on why she would just go to the Lotus Casino without any reason?
Well, Mathew thought it might help her since the house was burning down, and he didn't think she would be in danger. She went to the casino for shelter and she thought she could get some food there.
okay now this first part is just really a personal opinion, goddesses are...easy (obvious exception aside). Meaning Astrid would easily be conceived right away. now most of the stuff is fine. but i feel like she's far more likely to run into a satyr rather than some demigods and if she did befriend these demigods, they'd just take her to camp right away. and having your char attend camp in the past 3 years is against policies.
The demigods tried getting to camp, but they were attacked by monsters, and she got to camp in 2 years, so she just got there.
Idk if I over looked it, but what age is she now? >.<
- I'm assuming that none of the trained demigods she met on her travels came from Camp or the Broken Covenant?
- How would they know she was a demigod?
No, but they trained themselves or were trained by their parents. And she would have told them her story and they would know that she was like them.
The claim mostly looks good, but there are still things that haven't been answered too about the first monster attack such as, It is unlikely that Mathew would be able to react and move faster than the empousai, the empousai could break through a table, and it could lift a christmas tree, empousai are stronger than normal humans. This is the only thing I really have a problem about, so if you can clear this up, it might be ready for claiming, unless someone else finds something I don't
I changed the monster to a harpy, so when the tree came down, it injured on of its wings.
Can Matthew see through the mist? If not, how could he see the harpy?
No, he just believed that she was some crazy, maniacal, drug addict who was going to kill someone.
People don't age in the Lotus Casino, so if she went in as 13, she would come out as 13.
the way im seeing it is that she got to camp at age 14... could you please add in her current age so we can tell you if you are missing something? that'd be very helpful.
A week is too short a period for the pregnancy. I'd suggest maybe 3-5 months.
Almost there. How did she come across other demigods? Did she encounter any satyrs during the years when she travelled alone? Then, kindly add in her age when she arrived at Camp.
She encountered them and they let her in. She encountered no satyrs.
How did she know what camp was if her father never told her? What were her feelings on that? First Monster Attacks Have To Be From 11-13. How did she survive a year with no attack?
She was a bit unhappy about that.
If she doesn't know what camp is, why did she swear she would go?
She trusted her father enough to know it was a good place for her.
Well she doesn't even know where she's supposed to go, so again why would she swear to go? I'm kind of confused on that.
as deadly as a flaming christmas tree is, it would only give astrid and company a few minutes before the harpy reformed. now why didn't these trained demigods take astrid to camp right there and then? after being rescued by the questors, why would it take two years for her to get to camp?
