History: Chris Marko was a historian and devout Hellenic Polytheist. One day whilst studying some myths of Hermes (who was unbeknownst to Chris was his grandfather) a bright flash of light flared in the corner of his study and a woman appeared. When he looked upon this woman he instantly knew who she was from the myths he studied. "Athena." Chris whispered hastily bowing. "Indeed Chris and stop bowing you'll break your back." Athena Chuckled. Chris was surprised "You do realize I'm not always quite as stern as I appear in the myths." Athena joked. "I- well I do now." Chris stammered. After that initial meeting Athena appeared regularly for the next three weeks until one day. Chris received no word from Athena for nine months he had as such given up hope that she would ever return but then on day he heard a tapping at the window of his study. Chris went over and opened the window but got out of the way as a large owl flew in. Within the owl's grasp was a large golden wicker basket which the owl dropped on Chris' desk before flying out again. When Chris looked into the basket he was shocked to find a baby boy wrapped in a white blanket with a note addressed "Chris" in gold letters and a pen on top.
14 years later the boy now named Austin was from all outward appearances a not quite normal but far from strange teen. Growing up he had a mostly normal life. For whilst he was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia, was a Hellenic Polytheist, was always interested in swordplay and as such was trained to a level of extreme competence and had an intellect unmatched by both teacher and student causing him to be moved up a grade. He still had a moderate group of friends, enjoyed sports and had an average uninteresting childhood. However one day his life turned around. It was his schools annual cross-country race the course was one mile Austin and the rest of the ninth graders had to run the course five times. Everything was going smoothly until the end of the fourth lap when Austin along with the three other teens with him were nearing the end of the lap. Suddenly a great screeching spit the air and Austin turned around and saw what he instantly recognized as a harpy from the myths he read. The teens around Austin panicked and fled. Chris who was standing just before the finish line saw thanks to his divine lineage what the beast truly was and yelled "Austin catch!" Austin looked around quickly and with deft agility honed by years of practice with a sword caught a mere pen. Austin was confused until the pen started glowing with a golden light and turned in to a pair of perfectly balanced bronze sabres with wicked edges. Upon seeing the swords the harpy screeched again and charged towards Austin who quickly rolled to the side and swung out. The harpy was caught right in the stomach and vaporized into golden dust.
After the harpy was killed Chris ran to his son and helped him up. "Wha-" Austin said before Chris cut him off "I'll explain on the way come on." On the way to camp Chris revealed everything from meeting Athena to the swords which were called Φοίνιξ (Phoenix) and όλεθρος (Bane) with the pen being called δυαδικότητα (Duality) which would return to him after a while if he called out to it telepathically and finally where they were going, Camp Half-Blood. Almost as soon as he walked through the protective boundary of camp the image of an owl appeared above his head and as such the 14 year old was welcomed into Athena's cabin.
Weapons: His dual sabres: Φοίνιξ and όλεθρος.
Kindly add to his early childhood. How did the other three teens react to the harpy? If Austin were participating in his school's cross-country race, where was his father situated? Near the "finish line"? Half-way through the course, etc.?
Why would his father teach him the art of combat, but not tell him the reason why? How old was he when he got to camp?21:48, July 20, 2013 (UTC)
How did he have no attacks until 14?
Luck I guess. I thought it would be alright because it said at point 4.2 under claiming here "A child of Zeus, Poseidon or Hades should have at least one monster attack no later than the age of 11. All other demigods should have at least one monster attack no later than the age of 14." Mazsqurad (talk) 22:23, July 21, 2013 (UTC)
gestation period for goddess is assumed to be a little more than 3 days. Maybe a couple of months.14:01, July 22, 2013 (UTC)
