Name: Bree Maddox
God Parent: Poseidon, Palaemon, Apollo
Mortal Parent: Eva Maddox
Personality: Bree is outgoing, bubbly, and somewhat mysterious. She covers up the fact that she has many secrets by acting all happy and joyful, unless you do anything that reveals her secrets.
History: Eva Maddox was a demigod, child of Themis, who was widowed at the age of 31 in Malibu. She had hated camp, deciding to stake it out on her own. Her dead husband, a child of Hephaestus, had put monster wards in their wedding rings, but she saw no use for his anymore. She was about to throw it in the water when Poseidon came and talked her out of it. They dated for a few weeks, and eventually, a couple months later, Eva was pregnant.
After Bree was born, Poseidon left her a note explaining, and Eva immediately took action. She gave her daughter the monster ward the second it fit, and made sure that it fit snugly around her finger, not knowing what would happen to it in the future.
Bree loved the water. She swam beautifully at a young age. At age 5, they went on a tropical vacation. She swam beautifully in the ocean too, not minding the waves at all. She was a very happy girl, always smiling and playing and obeying her overprotective mom's every word. She let people watch her and spoil her and treat her like a little doll for the first few years of her life.
At age 9, the ring broke. It fell and Bree was shocked, not even noticing that it had still been on her finger for so long. She ran home, leaving the ring remains behind. But, her scent attracted a harpy, who flew towards her, claws reaching out for her. She screamed and made a detour for the water and plunged inside.
Zeus and Poseidon were in a fight over which animals were better, fish or eagles. Poseidon decided to prove a point that eagles were not divine by showing that they couldn't swim. So, Poseidon found a flock of eagles, sent a big ocean wave, and drowned them all in the currents, which were too strong for the birds, In a vision, he told Bree to help him drown one, as a defiance against Zeus. So, he left an eagle with the wings already broken where she was standing, and like he told her to, she shoved it into the water with vigor. Zeus was outraged, thinking that she was helping Poseidon to drown them. He cursed her that whenever her legs were fully submerged in water, they would turn into the tail of a fish. This, he thought, would humiliate her and cause her to never go in water again.
Poseidon saw this curse as a blessing. So, he sent a sea nymph to help develop her skills. The sea nymph told her that she was a child of Poseidon, and taught her how to use the tail to her advantage and how to fight off monsters, seeing that her ward was gone. Bree fought off hellhounds and harpies with skill. When, at age 12, the nymph asked to take her to camp, Bree agreed and went off.
At camp, Bree hated it. She felt ridiculed whenever she stepped in the water. So, after bearing a year of torture, at age 13 she went back home to her loving mother, also a camp dropout. Her mother kept her inside the walls at all times. She had cut open her wedding ring and put each half on a necklace, protecting both women from monsters.
But Bree started to miss the outdoors. She cried and whined and moped, but her mother was firm. She said that they were protected from monsters inside, and she didn't want Bree to break her monster ward again. Bree sat gazing at the beach, feeling the urge to swim. One day, when she thought her mother wasnt watching, she snuck out and went in the water. Her mother saw her fish tail and screamed, dragging her out at back inside. Bree, at age 15, felt even more trapped and alone then before.
At age 16, her mom finally trusted her to go back to school. She went in and made a few friends, but mostly stayed in the shadows. After school, she was to return right home, study, eat, and go straight to bed. She was not a good student, and ended up not getting in to college. This led to another year of torture, yelling, screaming, and homeschooling to try to get her grades up in order to send her to college the next year.
So, the next year, when Bree yet again did not qualify for college, she met the sea nymph again, walking along the beach. The sea nymph offered to take her back to camp, saying that she should be mature enough to handle it. Bree, ready for a challenge, said yes and left her monster ward behind with her mother, along with a note explaining where she was going. At camp, she once again was claimed by Poseidon and took up fighting with a polearm.
Weapons: CB polearm
(I'm kind of new at this, so give me some slack if I'm wrong)
- I don't think that monsters would not attack Bree for three years - even if she was locked up - considering she was a daughter of Poseidon and her scent would be strong
- Maybe add a bit more to her early childhood
(I like the claim, btw)
- Forgot to add that she still has her monster ward, fixed >.<
How could Poseidon drown an eagle, especially when they're always flying? Why would Zeus care about just one eagle? How did Zeus know it was Bree, not Poseidon?
Why would Poseidon do such things? I mean, they're eagles. How could he break their wings and drown them? Did he make an ocean wave or something? I really don't think Zeus could believe a 9 year old can break and slaughter a wave of eagles.
