Personality: Charlie is an affectionate person and doesn’t hesitate to show her love for the people she cares for. Usually seen with a smile on her face, she’s probably the friendliest compared to her sister and two other friends. Righteous, she always tries to do the right thing and never bends on her morals. This is why she struggled so much with what she did with her father. Though doesn’t outwardly show it, she hates being around people who outwardly lie for their own benefits. Though not vain, she’s quite aware of her beauty and doesn’t hesitate to use it if in dire need to get something out of a person. Unlike most people she knows, her trust is easily given and can be quite gullible.
History:
Both of Charlie’s parents will always be an unknown anonymity to her. Charlie never did find out his name, no matter how hard she tried to find out. She wasn’t even aware of how they meet, except that when she was born she was left on the steps of a church at three in the morning and received Eunomia due to the thin blanket not providing much protection against the freezing weather. Unbeknownst to her, her mother was the goddess Nemesis. She’d had a drunken one-night stand with a college student. Five months after the encounter, she gave the student Charlie. Not having the funds to provide for a child, he had dumped her on the steps in the middle of the night not even bothering to even name her.
When she was three, she was placed into a foster home with another girl named Brooklyn. The couple weren’t meant to form attachments to the two but they did anyway. When Charlie turned four, the couple asked to adopt them and they succeeded.
For the first ten years, their childhood was happy. The two girls bonded tremendously and they rarely did anything without one another. Charlie, unlike Brooklyn, was a dancer and a painter. Unbeknownst to them, their mother was a demigod and their father knew of her heritage as he was able to see through the mist. It wasn’t until their tenth year that their parents realised that both girls were demigods themselves. They were walking in the park with their mother when a group of harpies attacked them. The girls, not knowing what was happening, started screaming and if it weren’t for their mother they would have died. After killing all the monsters, the mother rushed her daughters home in a panic.
In the beginning, she believed that maybe they were unlucky mortals who could see through the mist and she tried to get the names of each of their parents but was only able to produce their fathers. Realising that both were demigods, she decided the best course of action was to just tell them the truth with her husband nearby. Charlie accepted this fully as she loved her parents. (you can edit that if you want, whether Brooklyn was fully accepting of this whole god idea or needed more convincing etc). After this revelation, the mother started to train them whenever she could. She gave them some of her spare weapons. Charlie chose a simple sword and dagger (changeable for B). They were given the option for camp but decided against it.
Each year, they were attacked by different monsters. Some times they were together, sometimes they were not. Charlie received a few scrapes and bruises but was never bothered by them. It all changed, though, when they were fourteen. The four of them were out on vacation in some remote place. Due to the numbers of demigods, a more powerful monster came to investigate. A cyclops. Spying easy prey, it soon attacked and during the fight a small pack of hellhounds were also dragged over.
Unable to defend all three, the mother was able to bring down the cyclops with minimal help from the sisters but was slaughtered by one of the hellhounds. In their desperation, the sisters were able to bring down the others. Their home life grew gradually worse after the death of their mother due to their father’s grief. Though it technically was not their fault, he believed since the both of them were demigods, they caused more than one monster to come attack unlike what would have happened if it had just been the mother and him. He began to take out his grief onto them and both girls copped beatings through the next two years. The only good thing his grief did was cause monsters to stay away from them due to his stench.
When they were sixteen, Charlie walked into her father beating Brooklyn. Finally snapping, she grabbed one of the wooden statues on the hallway table and hit him over the head with it–killing him instantly. Not knowing what else to do, the two sisters packed a bag and left into the night. Stealing their father’s money and car. For two months, they travelled the country without knowledge of where the camp was. They never bothered to ask. They got by through staying low and stealing whenever their supplies emptied, much to Charlie’s chagrin. But the idea of not going to jail kept her mouth shut. She did make sure she had nothing to do with it, though, and ever asked where Brooklyn got the supplies. During these two months, the girls turned seventeen.
Eventually, they run into Sophia and Valerie and upon realising the other two were heading to camp, they begged for the two girls to take them along. For another two months, they did well. The four defeated every monster that passed them and both Brooklyn and Valerie were able to steal easier due to teaming up. On the hill of CHB, they were attacked by four empousai. Taking down most of the monsters easily with the help of other campers that had been on patrol for that day, but one of them scraped Brooklyn’s neck which killed her. Distraught, she ran through ways to follow her sister without being caught in those brief moments that she was dead. During these moments, she begged for Valerie to try and do something and so Valerie did. Using her powers, with help from Circe who came do to a prayer Valerie had done, to bring Brooklyn back, she succeeded despite being drained of all her powers. After this ordeal, she made her way to camp with the other three girls.
