Name: Delan Woong Jeo

Age: 19 y.o.

God/Titan Parent: Hermes

Mortal Parent: Emelia Jeo†

Appearance (optional):

Hara - Sandbox Taeil
Moon Taeil of NCT

Personality (at least a sentence or two):

At the very surface, Delan is friendly and carefree. He's pretty laid back and prefers to focus on the present rather than the past or the future. As someone who has been raised with no walls and the sky as a roof, he values both his literal and figurative freedom greatly. Confinement within four walls puts him on edge, which is why he'd usually be found wandering around outdoors, the more open the area the better. He is the most relaxed when he is near the sea, which stems from the fact that being near the sea always meant safety back when he was still with Katalina.

Delan is very detail-oriented and nitpicky. Carefree as he is about life in general, Delan gets particularly hyperfixated on smaller details. He always seemed to have a system for everything and he gets annoyed whenever they are interrupted or changed without his prior knowledge. Most of the time it feels like as if he's operating on autopilot, going about his day in a routine that's basically drilled to his core at this point. He likes his habits, routines and systems because they give him a sense of familiarity and control, something he lacked since he was a young boy.

Delan finds it hard to ask for help from people or just interact with other people in general. He's pretty independent and prefers to undertake tasks that he can do by himself. Small talk makes him squirm and large crowds suffocate him, so he tries his best to avoid both. The contrast between this and his otherwise carefree disposition makes it difficult for him to actually connect with people so Delan just doesn't try to save both himself and the other party time and effort.

Due to events in the past, Delan holds both hatred and fear of scorpions, particularly pit scorpions.

History (at least two paragraphs):

Emelia Jeo was a daughter of Aphrodite and a camper who, at 18 years old, was sent out for a quest somewhere in Canada with two other demigods. During the final leg of their quest, Emelia was thrown off a waterfall. Her two teammates attempted to look for her but the time-sensitivity of the quest and the implication that her fate was the last line of the prophecy, they had to prioritise going back to camp first. Later attempts to find and retrieve her would turn up empty. With no leads and with their resources being needed for other tasks of higher priority, the search for her was called off.

Contrary to what they believed, Emelia didn't die from the fall. She was, however, at the brink of death when an elderly woman named Louise found her at the banks of the river the waterfall had fed to. Louise nursed her back to health. When Emelia finally regained consciousness, it's revealed that she lost most of her memories after the fall. The only thing she remembered was her name. Nothing in her bag was helpful in figuring out who she was (the presence of 3 daggers in her bag was lowkey concerning, though the necklace of clay beads was kinda cute). With their limited resources they attempted to find a missing person case that could be traced back to her, but it soon proved futile. Once this was clear, Louise decided to take in Emelia in as her own.

It took a while but a year after her presumed death, one of Emelia's former teammates from her last quest discovered her by chance. Katalina Ainsworth, a daughter of Poseidon, had half a mind to take the amnesiac Emelia back to camp where she belonged. She nearly did until she saw how happy Emelia was in her new life. Katalina was also aware that Emelia wouldn't be able to defend herself if a monster happens to catch her scent. Because of this, Katalina decided to stay close by to protect Emelia, only returning to camp for supply runs. Katalina never made herself known to Emelia, thinking it better that Emelia remains oblivious of her original life.

Two years later, Emelia has adjusted to her new life quite well. Though she wasn't able to do anything too great because of her entire identity-less situation, she was able to get a job in their town's local hair salon to help Louise with the expenses. There was always the odd monster or two who had picked up both hers and Katalina's scent but Katalina was quick to eliminate them before Emelia even noticed anything. Everything was going fairly well for her. That is until a certain someone strolled up in town looking like everyone's dream summer fling. It was Hermes, no surprise there. Dude seemed to always be circumnavigating the entire world delivering things for his fellow gods. Or something.

The town was pretty small so it really wasn't a surprise that Emelia bumped into the newcomer soon enough. The man introduced himself as Parker. Parker and Emelia hit it off pretty well, and soon both couldn't deny that there was something there. However, both did acknowledge that if they wanted to start something it was unlikely that it would last. Parker was to leave town once the month ends. With that said, both of them decided they'd enjoy the time they have left together. Once their month ended, they parted ways amicably. Emelia was understandably saddened about this but the outcome was already expected. That fact made it less painful.

Two weeks after Parker left, Emelia discovered she's pregnant. There was no denying that it was Parker's child. The problem is Emelia can't contact him about it. He insisted that they don't exchange any contact information at all. Emelia wanted to respect his choices, but she felt that he also needed to know about his child. Unfortunately, it was as if Parker had disappeared into thin air. There was nothing that Emelia could do.

Louise was a little disappointed in Emelia but that was to be expected. Nonetheless, Louise still supported Emelia throughout her pregnancy. Emelia had become Louise's daughter in all but blood so Louise wasn't going to abandon her now. Katalina, who had actually run into Parker/Hermes during his stay in town and found out his true identity, became more vigilant than ever. Three demigods within close proximity of each other will more than likely bring trouble in the future. She doesn't know how right she was.

Delan Woong Jeo was born to Emelia just minutes before the clock struck 12. He was the perfect copy of Emelia (though Emelia insists he got his eyes from his dad) and a delightfully well-behaved baby. Sometimes Emelia would be saddened because Parker wasn't there to watch their son grow up, but she pushes those depressive thoughts aside to love their baby enough for both of them.

As Delan grew into his toddler years, he proved to be quite a mischievous and active child. He was quick and light on his feet and found fun in pissing off their grouchy neighbour. The neighbourhood kids loved him too because he was always up for all kinds of games and never seemed to get tired. Everything was fun and carefree... Until an oversight made by Katalina caused everything to go downhill. Even if a month has passed monster-free, she should've known better than to let her guard down.

Delan was 9 years old when he felt true fear.

At Delan's behest, he and his mother were exploring the foresty area just outside of their town. Coincidentally, Katalina's house was situated nearby. This was the closest all three demigods have gotten ever since Katalina arrived in town. Something was bound to go downhill, and something did.

A pit scorpion had caught the scent of all three demigods and wasted no time going after them. The appearance of the large scorpion took both mother and son by surprise and it was only Emelia's subconscious instincts that saved Delan from the pit scorpion. Delan's frightened scream alerted Katalina nearby who was quick to come to their defence.

For Delan, the exact details afterwards were fuzzy at best and blank at worst. At some point, he could vaguely recall being frozen in shock in his mother's arms as they both watched Katalina battle with the scorpion. His memories blank out sometime after that.

His next clear memory was waking up in an unfamiliar bedroom and being told that his mother was dead by the stranger that saved him. Then they were going back to his grandmother. He got sent to his room because they were going to talk about grownup things. Delan could remember going to his mother's room and sitting on her bed, blanking out for a while. Then he's being given his mom's old bag and his grandmother is hugging him goodbye and the woman, Katalina, is telling him they need to go.

The weeks after that, Delan thinks he probably processed the grief of losing his mother. He's not fully sure. But the next time his memories became a lot clearer was when they were on the road (he never even realised they were on the road) for around a year already. Katalina had been making them travel as close to the coast as possible. He knew he was a demigod, Katalina explained it to him at some point. He knew his mother was one too, and who his dad was. He missed his mother but he doesn't really care about his dad. Hermes never did anything for him anyway.

Katalina taught Delan a lot of things. She taught him how to fight hand-to-hand. Then she taught him how to use his mother's daggers. She wasn't able to teach him much about his own demigod abilities though, so everything he knew about his own abilities was largely from experience. Because Katalina was a child of one of the Big Three, the monsters they faced along the way were tough ones. Sometimes they had to stop at a certain place for an extended period of time because one of them, usually Katalina, would be too injured to travel. Delan had to learn how to treat injuries on others and himself, identify the kinds of poisons they came across and their antidotes, and so on. At some point, Katalina had also started to teach him how to use her longsword.

Their journey along the coastline would drag on for several years, mainly because Katalina had to juggle raising a child and defending said child from monsters coming at them. They were in their fifth year of travel when everything changed.

They just came out of a fight with a couple of hellhounds when they were ambushed by a pit scorpion. Their injuries made it more difficult to deal with the monster so both of them tried to lure it closer to the sea where Katalina could have the upper hand. At the beach, Delan managed to cut off its tail with Katalina distracting it but not before managing to sting Katalina. Delan finished off the scorpion in a burst of fear and fury. Without looking back, he rushed to Katalina's fallen form and began to drag her towards the water in the desperate hope that it would fend off the poison from the scorpion.

Despite his best efforts, Katalina succumbed to her injuries and the poison. For a while, Delan remained in a state of shock and disbelief, holding on to Katalina as he tried to process what just happened. Then an Oceanid appeared, sent by Poseidon as a messenger. The Oceanid assisted Delan in burying Katalina's body and told him that Poseidon gave him a blessing as a sort of gift of gratitude for his efforts to save Katalina and to make sure the effort and dedication Katalina poured into raising Delan won't be in vain.

Apparently, his touch could now take a certain amount of saltwater ("no more than the amount that can fit a regular-sized pond") and turn it into a minor healing elixir, fit to heal minor non-life threatening injuries and common poisons. The water's healing properties have a time limit too depending on how much water he had transformed. A small vial of it can retain its healing properties indefinitely while a big thermos of it would last a week give or take.

Delan was bewildered, to say the least, but he was thankful. From what Katalina has told him, their godly parents weren't exactly the type to do, well, that. In fact, this was the most any god had done for him. The Oceanid didn't seem to mind his questions about it too, but she wasn't allowed to give too much away. Delan could understand that.

Once Delan was finished with his questions, he thanked the Oceanid and told her to extend his thanks to Poseidon as well. The Oceanid departed back to home, leaving Delan alone on the shore with a map to Camp Half-Blood. He decided to test his newfound blessing by scooping up some saltwater with his empty thermos and gave it a good poke before drinking it down. To his surprise, the small injuries he attained from the previous fights began to heal quickly, but the larger ones like the nasty looking gash on his leg remained.

He let himself recuperate for a few days before continuing on his journey. He didn't head towards Camp right away, a lot just happened and he needed to process all of it. Out of habit and practicality, he kept close to the coastlines. The number of monsters coming his way lessened too, most likely because Katalina wasn't with him anymore. That fact alone hurt him to the core, losing Katalina was like losing his mother all over again. The only difference was that he had no one to help him through the grief anymore.

For five years he travelled by himself. He met the odd satyr or two who offered to take him with them but he declined. He can go to Camp by himself when he wants to. The map given by the Oceanid rested in his pocket at all times and whenever he declined an offer, its presence would weigh heavily on his shoulders. Was he avoiding Camp because he wasn't ready or was he avoiding it because he didn't want to leave the life he was used to?

Eventually, he had to make up his mind. After a long while of thinking, Delan decided to go to Camp Half-Blood. Katalina gave her life to make sure he could make it to camp and even Poseidon gave him assistance to reach there. He wasn't about to continue being an ungrateful brat and he had to face reality anyways. The chapter of his life on the road with Katalina was done and over with.

The moment Delan stepped over the camp borders, an invisible weight seemed to be lifted from his shoulders. This was his mom's home. This was Katalina's home. Hopefully, it will become his as well.
