Personality: Javier (Dorian) has a very complex array of emotions, mostly maintaining his tough, overconfident, and arrogant, boy attitude in front of people and bottling his emotions up inside of him. He is able to maintain a normal attitude even under stressful situations, such as being in a room with a dangerous drug dealer with a knife. Yet, he has a heart and sometimes cannot bear the emotional burden of some events, such as his parents death.

History: Meredith was in her mid-twenties when she started off as a lifeguard on the beaches of Burlington, California to earn so extra money for college. She was enrolled at the local university and majored in marine biology in hopes of becoming a marine scientist. During that summer, she rescued a man named Juan Pablo while he was drowning. Meredith learned that he was an immigrant from Costa Rica about her age. After the attack and his quick recovery, he visited the beach more often just to see Meredith. The two became friends and formed an intimate relationship with one another.
After Meredith became pregnant with her unborn son, Juan became more distant and later returned to Costa Rica. Meredith was later killed in a car accident. His mother, Meredith, was apparently kept on life support long enough for doctors to deliver Javier through c-section. After his birth, he was proclaimed as an orphan.
Javier was then adopted by policeman Kyle Valdez and his wife, Tara. The couple changed Javier's name to Damon Valdez in honor of their deceased son who was murdered during a home invasion at the age of fourteen. Javier, now Dorian, grew up as a reckless individual.
When Dorian turned seven, he became overly aggressive and lashed out on anyone who opposed him at school. Dorian was constantly involved violence and fights. Students who had teased because he was an outlier where beaten at the hands of Dorian. However, Dorian's abuse and bullying comes from a darker place. It is really an example of someone perpetuating a cycle of abuse. In other words, his adoptive father beats him so badly, the only thing he knows how to do is be mean to other, weaker people. At the age of eleven, still enduring his fathers physical abuse, Dorian decided to runaway from home.
Dorian stole his adoptive parents money and escaped his house and took a bus to Galveston, Texas where he attempted to locate a girl named Maria Hernandez who happened to be his friend when he attended elementary school. Her parents allowed Dorian to stay after hearing his story. Maria's parents contact Dorians (they still had their phone number) and warned them they would take action. After a court battle, Maria's parents were granted permission to become Dorian's new legal guardians.
Dorian at the age of thirteen, still struggling with his transition, encountered his first monster. He attended a party on a beach. Many of his friends persuaded him to drink, and they soon became filled with merriment and smashed. A black dog persuded Dorian and some of his friends. The drunkards started to notice it and pet it. When Dorian grew close to it, it morphed into a Hellhound and snapped at her. He recoiled aimlessly noting how the Hellhound was a "bad puppy." Dorian who was now angry, grew many rows of teeth and attacked the Hellhound. The monster soon dissolved in a pile of green smoke and ash. He laughed and clapped his hands in amusement. Dorian and his drunk friends staggered throughout the beach throughout the remainder of the night roaring with laughter.
At the age of fifteen, Dorian was attacked by another monster while hiking up a mountain. The Manticore posing as a mountain lion pounced Dorian off the edge of the mountain into the sea. Dorian healed when he made contact with the water and entered his shark-like frenzy. He demolished the Manticore in just a matter of seconds before falling unconscious. Dorian washed up on the shore and was eventually found by a passersby who contacted the local hospital.
Maria pressured Dorian to join the swim team with her when they entered high school. He reluctantly attended the practice and in time grew to admire the sport. Dorian dedicated most of his free time training and competing for his swim team, and had won countless trophies for it. He was a natural born swift swimmer and rarely lost to anyone. At the age of sixteen, Dorian slowly became involved in a relationship with a girl his age named Sofia Grace. She was friends with Maria who attended her junior dancing hip hop class during the summer. Dorian soon joined Maria in class and caught the attention of Sofia, the assistant dance instructor. Dorian got to know her and they soon entered a relationship. However, it didn't last long. Sofia moved to California because the company her father worked for forced them to move. Dorian was heartboken and slowly began to seep back to his bullying. Despite that, Maria talked Dorian out of his old cycle and the two became closer as friends/brother and sister.
A year later (seventeen years old) was around this age his abilities started to develop and he began to get unwanted attention (from monsters). After a victory, the team headed out to the beach to celebrate. Not only were the celebrating their victory, but Dorians birthday which would have been the day after (he was seventeen turning eighteen). An Empousa in the guise of a junior student persuaded Dorian to venture off in the distance on the shore. There, the two found a small boat and rowed out into the sea alone in the comfort of their own privacy. Eventually, The Empousa attacked Dorian, slashing him in the chest with her lethal talon-like nails. This causes Dorian to loose his balance and plummet into the salty-sea water.
Dorian's teeth became numb (his teeth were growing sharp) and he slowly grew into a rapid frenzy. Dorian barely knew what he was doing. He jumped out of the water, tossing the boat completely over. The Empousa plunged into the water attempted to swim ashore, however, Dorian bit her with his honed teeth. The monster dissolved into a puff of green smoke and ash.
Maria trying to find Dorian near the spot where she last saw him ended up dying at the hands of Dorian who was still in his hypnotic, rage form. After slaughtering Maria, Dorian swam out into the ocean because he was still stuck in his frenzy. A nymph who observed the incident followed Dorian until he was unconscious. She surged a current to send Dorian to a place called Camp Half Blood. He washed up on the beach at Camp.
When he awakened, Dorian was informed by the nymph who aided him that he was now in a place of sanctuary where he would be safe from any monster attacks. After morning the loss of his adoptive sister, Maria, he walked towards Camp hoping to gain full control of his abilities.

- Why did Dorian grow up with pointy teeth? O.O
- I also don't know if empousa are allowed to be used for first monster attacks, especially for a child who'd never been trained, even in water, but you'll have to ask
