Harley is a brave, loyal and strong warrior. She is resilient and relentless when it comes to battle, and those tendencies tend to overflow into her regular life. Harley has been described by some as a 'demanding brat.' This title is not very far from the truth. As a daughter of Lyssa, Harley seems to have a neverending supply of unvetted anger. This can be a blessing when she controls it, or a curse when her anger overflows. While she would never admit it, Harley doesn't enjoy being hated by the majority of camp, she wishes her anger was not a natural trait, so she could get rid of it. Eventually, once she was at camp, she found that when she directed her anger at something, she was calmer in other areas of her life. This is why she tends to hang out around the Hephaestus kids at the forge. While she isn't technically allowed to spend as much time as she does there, it calms her down, so the other kids at the camp believe it's essential for their wellbeing if she stays there.
Harley lives her life as a leader, even in aspects where she isn't. Her ability to effectively command others is one of her strongest traits. While Harley believes it is due to a natural gift of leadership, it is only because younger demigods are terrified of her unbalanced emotions. Regardless, Harley is very proficient in battle. Her powers and abilities are heightened in a fight, and she can easily channel her anger to buttress her performance. Also, due to her condescending nature against those whom she doesn't like, Harley uses extreme baits of psychological warfare to force her opponents into submission. Harley is a powerful force when she needs to be, and is relentless against her opponents, however, her weakness comes from her pride. Her self image is what is most important to her. Even small situations where she may be embarrassed, can fully throw off her balance and cause her to feel afraid and unwanted. Thus she lashes out with her pent up anger.
One evening, when Devero Blanchett, CEO of a dominant American Energy company, was vacationing in Monaco. He and his associates entered the Monte Carlo Casino, undercover. They didn't want to create a scene and risk their gambling habits be splashed across every business news outlet in the morning. Their night went by fast, as they played the tables throughout the main casino floor. Eventually, Devero was invited back into a private room, where he found a large table and seven different figures sitting about. They were about to begin their next poker game when the woman in the center gestured to the man sitting directly across from her. "Take a seat, dynamo. The news of your arrival reached our room a few hours ago, and we've been monitoring you to be one of our players." The woman wore crimson lipstick, had perfectly arched eyebrows, and her eyes struck daggers into Devero's soul. He calmly sat down, in the now-empty seat, across from the woman. Once he was ready, the game was underway.
Loosing the first, second, and third round, Devero was starting to lose his nerve. Each game ended with the woman and him going head to head, even when he thought he had the best possible hand to win, she still beat him every time. This continued through the fourth and fifth games. Finally, Devero folded and stood up to leave. After all, this was only losing him money. The woman glanced at him, and let him leave.
He met back with his associates outside of the main casino floor, they headed back to their respective rooms for the evening. When Devero made it back to his room, the door was slightly ajar. After he had left the private game room, the woman had dispersed the other players, and vanished, reappearing in Devero's room. She had opened the door, for dramatic effect...only. She had noticed a certain charm in Devero and wanted to explore it more. When he entered the room, he was wary. He heard the water being drawn in the bathroom suite. Devero found the woman bathing. Throughout the evening, Lyssa seductively explained her origin and life ~ she explained who she was to the entranced man.
After that evening, Lyssa knew she was pregnant. She didn't want to care for the child, so she had a servant nymph deliver the baby back to Devero in New York.
The baby was passed to one of Devero's assistants, who honestly had no clue what to do with it. She presented it to Devero, per the nymphs instructions. But the businessman simply said it was impossible and couldn't have been his child, and told his assistant to find a solution. His assistant wasn't going to give the child away, she had always wanted one of her own, so she started taking care of it. Eventually, the child grew up. Her new mother, Latisha had named the child Harleena, after her grandmother, but she called her Harley for short. Harley legally changed her name to just Harley at age twelve.
When Harley was 14, she attended an office party with her mother at Devero's mansion. It was the end of the fiscal year, and they were celebrating another year of existential growth for the company. Latisha had been promoted to a senior advisor in the company. Devero greeted Latisha and her daughter when they arrived. He felt a strange connection to the little girl. Her eyes were piercing, and she looked like someone he knew, but he couldn't figure out who. Eventually, throughout the party, he remembered the woman in Monaco. The fact that Latisha, had been the one to introduce him to the baby he told her to get rid of - clicked in his brain. That girl was his biological daughter. He just felt it. But before he got the chance, he noticed Harley with another girl who looked to be a similar age.
Harley didn't like the party at all, she had met another girl, who said her dad worked for the company. Her name was Jane...classically cliche Harley had thought. They were standing at the base of the stairs, leading down into the furnished backyard. Jane looked at Harley when no one was looking, she pushed the girl down the several concrete stairs. Harley wasn't a weakling, though she was shocked and screamed. Jane sprouted wings and claws and pounced down at the demigoddess. Harley screamed, which drew the attention of the other houseguests, but they only saw the two girls squabbling. Latisha ran over and tried to separate them, she slapped Jane (who she still saw as a human, due to the mist) Jane, or harpy-Jane, stabbed Latisha with one of her claws. Harley freaked out, her rage started growing, and she felt like she couldn't control herself anymore. She lunged at the harpy and knocked her into the side of the concrete staircase. Harley felt energized, and a burst of energy released from her body as she snarled at the harpy. Jane got up, and pounced back at the demigoddess. When she touched her arm, she reeled back, as it burned due to the energy released. Harley had no clue what was happening, but she just kept getting angrier. Her rage took over and she grabbed a loose stone and hurled it at the harpy, slapping it in the face. The harpy didn't retreat, but it was down for a second. Harley didn't wait for it to regain its senses, she ran back up the stairs and through the main entrance to the mansion.
The Harpy met her on the front porch as she was trying to escape to their car. When she opened the door, the creature burst in, most of the guests were outside, and didn't follow the enraged girl into the house. The standoff between the two mythic creatures was tense. Finally, after several minutes of violence between the two, the fight let itself into the kitchen. Harley used everything in sight to fend off the beast. She threw knives, and other utensils, but they didn't do much damage. Finally, she grabbed a glass pitcher, and when the beast lunged at her again, she smashed it into the creatures head. The shards rained down on the beast, and Harley used a knife to stab it. Finally, it turned to dust. Harley freaked out. She ran outside to her mom's car, and tried to start it.
Devero and her mom ran out front, to Harley it had felt like forever, but it had only been a few minutes since she had fallen down the stairs. Harley was crying while sitting in the front seat. Devero suggested they stay, but Latasha refused and took her daughter home. Later that week, Devero asked Latisha to bring her daughter to their office building, as he wanted to speak with her. Latisha relented and brought her to the office, she didn't want to let her daughter go but knew that Devero had figured he was the father. At the party, he had his new assistant use a strand of hair they had found after the fight, so see if he was the father. HE knew he was, but wanted confirmation. He explained all of this to Harley and showed her the paperwork that proved it. He also knew, that if what her biological mother said was true, he needed to get his daughter to a safe place. Latisha, knew she had to give up her daughter, even though she raised her. She was a strong Christian woman, who did it for the glory of her God, and not for any selfish gain. She did love the girl but also wanted what she thought was best for her.
Devero, had her choose a new wardrobe to pack, and new items to bring with her before he had her driven to Camp Half-Blood. Devero was aware of Camp Half-Blood, because Lyssa had warned him about the measures he would need to take if they did conceive. She also told him that she wasn't interested in a child unless, he got it to the Camp. The only reason Devero didn't accept the child in the first place, was because he had convinced himself the his night with Lyssa, had been a dream. IT wasn't until he saw the girl, who had the same eyes as her mother, that he realized Lyssa was real, and he had a daughter that he neglected for so many years. He knew there wasn't any way that he could just insert himself into her life, and be an actual father, so he thought it was best to follow the instructions he had been given and get her to Camp Half-Blood immediately. At camp, Lyssa claimed her only a few days after her arrival. For the first several years at camp, Harley was only a summer camper. She spent the school year switching between living with her dad, and Latisha, whom she considered her mom. Finally, after four years, she became a full time camper, and moved exclusively to camp.
Powers of a Child of Lyssa:
- Children of Lyssa have the ability to focus an emotional energy beam out of their rage which will burn anything it touches.
- Children of Lyssa are able to tap into primal rabid animal instincts which allows them to attack or flee with enhanced speed and ferocity. However, this ability can often lead to loss of self-control and only lasts for a short time.
- Children of Lyssa, when enraged, can ignore damage sustained in battle temporarily. Once they have calmed down, however, the pain from the damage is intensified.
- Children of Lyssa can generate a veil of the emotional energy of rage around their bodies, the veil would protect them from damage for a short time and cannot be used if the child doesn't have the rage to fuel it.
- Children of Lyssa are stronger when themselves and other around them are angry, they cannot be empowered from rage created by their aura.
- Children of Lyssa can cure rabies in both humans and animals with a simple touch.
- Children of Lyssa emit a rage aura which makes people around them at least slightly angry, they can turn it off for a long time if they wish.
- Children of Lyssa can communicate with and command rabid animals
- Children of Lyssa can cause people near them to temporarily develop symptoms of rabies, including agitation, hallucinations, and an inability to swallow, incapacitating the victim for a short period.
- Children of Lyssa can cause people near them become enraged and frenzied, reducing their competency and effectiveness in battle.
- Children of Lyssa can cause nearby animals to become rabid and once in this state, can command them to attack an enemy or gather information for them. This ability can only be used on up to 3 animals at one time. The larger the animals and the more that are summoned, the more energy it drains.
- Children of Lyssa are known for being very irritable and hostile, many usually struggle with controlling their tempers.
- Children of Lyssa sometimes love seeing other people angered and will taunt them for fun.
- Children of Lyssa are often fond of dogs since their mother was associated with them.
(Following do not currently apply)
- Children of Lyssa are able to drain the rage and anger from those around them, using it to empower themselves for a short time, while also weakening the will of those they drain to fight, but once it has worn off, they are substantially drained.
- Children of Lyssa can turn their volatile emotional energies into larger tools, objects, weapons and other items, create semi-living constructs and/or create structures/buildings of varying permanence; however, only up to 4 combative/non-combative items or 1 semi-living construct can be conjured at a time and it cannot be larger than roughly 3 times the size of the one that conjured it. Tools may telekinetically moved by the user’s mind and all rage constructs slightly burn anyone who touched it. The longer they maintain combative/non combative items and semi-living constructs, the more it drains their energy, so they are more limited for the time they can keep these things cohesive. However, their ability to use the power is hindered before or during use when they experience emotions in relation to peace and happiness. As more positive and serene emotions are felt, the strength of the object begins to fade, becoming dull and brittle.
- Children of Lyssa are able to transform into a dog for a short time. They can turn into either a full dog or a humanoid dog form. In the human/dog form, they are twice as faster and stronger than before. Their senses are also quite sharper as well. They also tend to be more violent and volatile in this state. Once the transformation ends, the user is extremely drained. Using the hybrid form is more draining rather than the full dog form. They will not be able to move and could possibly faint.
