Name:Shaun Filipov (Does not use last name) (original name Vassily)

Gender: Male

God Parent: Hephaestus; Athena; Apollo

Mortal Parent:Yuri and Galya Filipov (Adoptive, explained in history)

Appearance: Shaun is 18, tall and gangly, but is surprisingly strong for his build. His skin is pale white, but tans easily, sometimes resulting in patches of color on his skin, which he jokes about (He jokes about everything). He keeps his black heir closely shaved, as if it was let loose, it would become incessantly curly, which irks Shaun. Shaun is always known to wear a long sleeve shirt under whatever else he is wearing (usually a tie-dye camp shirt) and cargo pants, whose pockets are almost always filled to the brim. While this appears to just be a preference, Shaun is hiding a multitude of scars under his clothes, and does not want to reveal them to anybody, especially himself. His first language is Russian, so if he is stressed or talking to himself, he might start speaking Russian. His English is not the best in the world, but he uses this fact in a comical sense (Think Fawful's grammar, "I HURT YOUR FACES!")

Personality: Shaun is overly cheery and will always wear a bright smile to everything he does. He is quick to joke, and will make friends with anyone and everyone. Unlike some other campers, who prefer to blend in with the background, Shaun will always be the one laughing, yelling, doing stupid bets, and all-around making a joke of himself. He has even gone as far as to proclaim that he "wants to be a stand-up comedian when I grow up," although everyone knows he won't, because demigods just don't do that stuff. Nevertheless, he has been a source of comic relief for the cabin and camp alike many times over.

However, this seemingly overjoyed exterior is a mask: Shaun has suffered from high levels of depression his whole life. Although he makes friends easily, he has only revealed his past to one person (who is dead: explained in history). His past is a place that Shaun wishes he would forget, which is part of the reason Shaun does not use a last name. This is just one of the many steps he has taken to disassociate himself from the bad parts of his life.

Vassily's mother was a rich bank investor who caught Hephaestus' eye at a party. She was a woman who did not judge by looks, and hit it off right away. Shortly after becoming pregnant, however, a series of financial disasters left her inpoverished, dying in childbirth. Vassily was found and taken to an orphanage, where he was eventually adopted by Yuri and Galya Filipov. Somehow these people faked a background check, and were allowed to adopt him. These two people would become the scourge of Vassily's life. Most of the first 13 years of his life were spent locked in his room, and when his parents weren't yelling at him, they were out getting drunk, before coming home and adding to his collection of scars. The only pleasure he found in life were books. Whenever his parents were out, he would climb down the fire escape outside of his window and run over to the library. The librarians never asked any questions: they knew who he was, or more importantly: who his parents were. Mr. and Mrs. Filipov made quite a reputation for themselves, and no one crossed them. Eventually a plan started to brew in his mind, and soon enough he put it into action. He was desperate, and desperate people did desperate things. He found a flyer for a nearby boarding school and made copies. He then proceeded to place these flyers in just the right place where each parent would think the other parent was reading it. At the same time he strove to make them as angry as possible. He knew that it would hurt him then, but it was worth it in the long run. Eventually, his parents decided to ship him off to the boarding school.

>Life at Kowalski Boarding School for the Mentally Slow was, to put it bluntly, hell. Or at least it would be for anyone not named Vassily. He was used to it. He knew how to ignore the hate. Outside of classes, where he struggled (he sort of hasn't been educated for the first half of his life), he tinkered with spare parts and planned the next step. As the year drew on, he realized that he was good with tools and spare parts. One of his biggest achievements was building a remote control helicopter out of materials he scavenged. On off days, he got a part-time job and started to save up money. But, at the end of the year, he realized that the money he had would not be enough, so when the time came, he declined the option to study abroad, and instead committed himself to spending one last summer with his parents.

Vassily's parents welcomed him home with a fresh set of scars, but he barely felt them. Vassily knew that this was the last summer he would have to bear with the Filipovs, so he made the most of it. He realized that in order to get anywhere in America, he should at least know enough English to get by. While he was at it, he decided to change his name to Shaun, to get by easier in America, but mainly to disassociate himself from Russia. At the start of that school year, he got on the plane flight to LA with the rest of the students with money, the clothes on his back, and his RC helicopter. On the plane ride, the woman across from him seemed to always be glaring at him, so Shaun got very suspicious. The moment the plane touched down, he ran as fast as he could to the exit, but it wasn't long before he heard something behind him. He turned around slowly and saw the woman there, who suddenly became an harpy. Shaun, in the amount of terror he was in, didn't really understand what was going on but did know what he was looking at. He was an avid reader, after all. He knew about mythical beings, but he didn't believe that they existed. He turned around and poured on steam, but heard the harpy approaching, screaming bloody murder for who knows what reason. Suddenly, he tripped and was left to watch helplessly as the harpy approached (yeah, cliche, i know). Suddenly, an arrow sprouted from its throat, and it dissolved. Shaun, still terrified, looked behind him and saw a man standing there with a bow. Wait. Shaun knew him. He was one of the Kowalski teachers! As Shaun scrambled to his feet, he heard the man say, "I'm not going to hurt you. Come with me if you want to live."

The next three years passed like a blur. After escaping the airport with the man, he explained everything to Shaun: about the gods, and how they were real. Shaun didn't believe him at first, but the longer the man talked, the more rational he sounded. Shaun eventually realized that he wouldn't survive on his own. The man explained that he himself wasn't a demigod: He could simply see through the Mist, but Shaun was a demigod. Shaun believed him: It explained his dead mother and lack of a father. The ragtag pair made their way eastward, avoiding monsters and mortals alike, learning english, and honing Shaun's skills. The man surprised Shaun as a "birthday" present with a toolbox, with spare parts inside it. Shaun instantly got to work, patching up his helicopter, adding a camera to it, and fitting together other spare parts, to see what he could do with them. While Shaun never became a good fighter before camp, he was a good evader, and almost never got injured. While they were occasionally attacked by harpies, Shaun only remembered three specific occasions: the first encounter in the airport, the second encounter nearly a year later in Dallas, and another encounter in Tennessee. The man killed them every time, however, and Shaun more and more started to see him as a father figure.

After residing in New York for a month, the man made the sudden statement: They would go to Camp Half-Blood immediately. Shaun was originally hesitant because the man said he had bad relationships with the leader there, but if he said so, he said so. They started to walk to Long Island, Shaun occasionally checking the small screen he was holding to see the view from his RC helicopter, which had proven to be valuable eyes in the sky. As they walked, the man suddenly stopped and said, "There it is. Right over that hill." Shaun stopped and said "Can I talk to you for a moment?" Before he knew it, he was revealing his entire past, something he had never done before. The man listened patiently, and then said, "I'm going to miss you, Shaun." Shaun embraced him and they stood there for a minute, before suddenly the man went limp. Shaun stepped back and looked in horror as the harpy removed its talons from the man's back. "Oh ho ho ho, that was SO worth if for what he did to my sister!" the harpy cackled, as it eyed Shaun down. Shaun, in tears, turned around and ran as fast as he could to the hill. The harpy caught up to him and started slashing, dealing superficial wounds, but Shaun kept running. He ran for what seemed like hours, but suddenly, the harpy was knocked back by an invisible wall. Shaun turned around and saw the harpy repeatedly banging into the camp's barrier. "Well, I guess I made it…" Shaun muttered weakly, before passing out, where he was rescued and taken to the Big House.

Weapons: Shaun has really grown into his talent for building since coming to camp, and he made himself a sword, with mechanisms in it that allowed the sword to change length or shape, with the tap of a button on the hilt. You never know when a scythe will get you that much farther then a sword. When not in combat, it folds on itself and turns into a pair of glasses

Being the only possession from his past, the remote control helicopter has always been Shaun's favorite construction, and will always hold a soft spot in his heart. Not only with a camera now, it is modified to fly faster, and even has slight combat uses, dropping vials of Greek fire or other what-nots on the enemy. You wouldn't want a vial of Greek fire to drop on YOUR head, would you? The helicopter is now controlled by the buttons on the sword as well, allowing Shaun to multitask in combat.

First off, this is a pretty nicely put together claim :3 although I have a question:

You said he lived in new york for three years, and then went and said they only lived there for a month... if they lived there for three years, he would have had monster attacks at least once per year, and my question would be: How did he and his teacher just ditch the school?

  • Mortals are unable to use BC weapons... So, he would not have been able to help kill the harpie...
  • Monsters ignore mortals, so the harpie wouldn't have killed "the man" (I would give him a name if he is this important btw :3)

My recomendation is to just make "the man" a demigod, just note that doing so would make monster attacks a bit more frequent.

Lastly: the sword kinda seems a bit OP to me with it's ability to basically turn into anything with that description... I would at most give it three forms, one being weapon A, weapon B, and item/equipment form. (I'm ok with it having controls for the helecopter on it)

To answer your questions:

The three years were spent traversing the country, they just happened to stay in new york for a while.

The man could see through the Mist: Think Paul killing the whatever-it-was in the 5th book. Which is why that particular harpy held a grudge.

(IMO making him a demigod wouldve been harder, because then why did he live most of his life in Russia? And like, not get attacked by something stronger? Then again, he did say he had ties to CHB)

And sure, ill do that with the sword. Yeah, i don't think i described it right XD

Probably a sword, then more of a dagger form.

And the man presumably already had his own plans to ditch the school, and knew about Shaun's plan to ditch the school. The school was ditched the moment they fled from the LAX.

Oh also he had a name, but Shaun has been repressing his past so much he doesn't even remember the man's name anymore.

Ok, I will do that. Can't at the moment, but i will get to it.

The attack was in the airport, not the plane.

And there were attacks, but the man defended him so there wasnt much detail, i think in there it mentions that they were occasionally atacked by harpies.

Pretzel987 (talk) 14:10, March 7, 2015 (UTC)

did you do the changes I asked?

Yep, not going into much details on the other attacks because Shaun didn't kill them himself, and it was a repetitive act to him: Get attacked, run, attacker gets shot by the man.

Pretzel987 (talk) 21:38, March 10, 2015 (UTC)

ok I can accept it I guess still can you explain how he got from russia to the states?

Probably hidden in the text somewhere but it was a flight to America for a school program, then when they got to the airport he ditched. The plan  had been in commision for a while.

may I ask is his savior a satyr?

Not much about his past is reavealed, but he is a demigod of a minor god that has had bad bloon with CHB and has not been allowed back (Maybe he was on Kronos' side during the canon) so no, he's not a statyr.

Pretzel987 (talk) 13:44, March 11, 2015 (UTC)

oh? ok I understand then please add a few monster attack on the three years they were together. As two demigods means more attacks but if you go for satyr you would have to provide for a reason to why the satyr didnt brought him to camp do you get me?

Behind those cold hard computer screens.....SuitIsASexyWhoreThere’s a human heart beating away its emotions…
