Personality: Tara is a cool, calm, collected girl. Very level headed, she can take control of almost any situation, no matter what it is. She never gets flustered or gets in over her head. She’s very patient, and logical, never picking (or getting into) a fight with someone she knows she can’t beat.
History: Ava O’Brian was a bartender at a pub she and her step-sister owned. She was a demigod, a child of Demeter. She shared a small 3 room apartment above the pub with Anna (her step-sister). Ava returned to camp every summer, and came back to Ireland during the rest of the year. Anna knew briefly of her step-sister’s Greek parentage, but she thought it was just a Greek woman who was her mother.
One night, while working late, Ava ran into a charming young man. He ordered a drink and she served him almost at once. They chatted and Ava ended up closing the place early. Anna was spending a few weeks at their father’s, so the two of them were alone. They ended up drinking and talking until the next morning, when Ava woke up in bed and the man was gone.
She realized what had happened and that it was a practically a repeat of what some of her friends at camp had told her. Their mother slept with a god during a one-night stand and the god was gone the next morning.
When Anna returned a few weeks later, she found Ava crying and the floor and asked her what was wrong. Ava replied she was pregnant, and she told her sister of her one-night stand while Anna was away.
Even though Ava wasn’t married yet, Anna knew that she wanted a child and asked her why she was upset, and Ava explained that she didn’t want her child to be like her, living in fear. She ended up telling Anna everything, about the Greek gods and monsters, the camp, and the person she slept with was a god.
Anna was quite shocked, but after thinking about it, she knew that Ava wouldn’t have made something up like that. Anna decided to believe Ava. 9 months later, Ava was going through labor and they rushed to the hospital.
While in the delivery room, Anna stood by Ava’s side the entire time. The longer and longer Ava was in labor, the more worried everyone got. After being the labor for nearly 12 hours, they decided they would have to give Ava a C-section. They managed to get the baby out in time, but it was too late for Ava. She ended up getting internal bleeding and died from blood loss soon after.
After hearing the news of Ava’s death, Anna immediately rushed to the baby. After a few court dates and some paperwork, Anna became the baby’s legal guardian. She named the little baby Tara, after Anna’s and Ava’s grandmother. She also gave Ava as the baby’s middle name, after her mother.
Years passed and Tara grew up a happy child. At age 12 she meet her best friend, Adrian. Though money was sometimes thin, they managed to get by well enough. Anna raised Tara as if she was her own child, though Tara knew of her mother’s death. When Tara was 13 her first monster attack came, the night before her 14th birthday. Anna and Tara were closing up the pub early in the morning, and Tara went out to throw some old bottles out. She put them in the bin and turned around to see a Fire-Breathing Horse. It snorted and then charged at Tara. Tara managed to leap out of the way, but the horse turned again and charged. This time, someone appeared and grabbed Tara out of the way.
As it turned out, it was Adrian! Her friend was a Satyr, sent to protect her and guide her to camp.
They both ran towards the lake, not far from the pub, and stood in front of it. The horse charged again, at full speed. During this time, Adrian and Tara both jumped out of the way and the horse slid into the lake on the grass. It thrashed around in the water and caused steam to flood the area. Adrian yelled for Tara to follow him and they both ran back to the pub. Adrian got Anna’s attention and told her they needed to leave. Though Anna was sad, she knew she had to keep Tara safe. Anna locked the door to the pub, made a quick phone call and threw in a bag of hastily packed clothes into the car where Tara and Adrian were waiting.
Anna drove and Tara kept asking her and Adrian what was going on. When they reached the airport, Anna finally explained, nervous at what would happen if Tara had known before she could leave. Tara was in shock and became very dazed. Anna had called the airport and bought the tickets over the phone. Anna handed a very dazed Tara to Adria’Brainand they both got onto the flight to New York. From there, Adrian brought her to camp and she turned 14. Soon after, was claimed as a child of Notus.
Weapons: A sword. It was something she found in the weapons shed. It's made of celestial bronze metal. The cross guard is kinda plain. The grip is decorated with metal thread in addition to being wrapped with leather. The pommel is smooth (so that there are no snagging on clothes and so on) and sturdy enough to hit people with (hitting people with the "butt" of the sword).
