Virginia is a poet, like her father and her father's father before him it's been a talent passed down through generations. Possessing a natural talent for language and words, there's a spark within Ginny just waiting to explode into the light of the world. A creative visionary, Ginny is idealistic about the future although not naively so - she sees the best in most people although that doesn't mean she lets people walk all over her. When she wants to be Ginny can be a force to reckon with, once she's set on a goal she won't stop until it's done. It doesn't matter what, getting an award, finishing a poem or beating her Goodreads goal from last year - Ginny won't stop until it's done.

Softspoken and quiet, Ginny often has trouble making friends - mostly due to her detachment from modern pop culture. She has been getting more into it as of late but more often than not can be found watching old reruns of Murder, She Wrote rather than the brand new Netflix trend. An old soul could be a way to describe her, although she objects to that label - seeing it overused and considering it almost the same as "born in the wrong generation". To put it simply, while Ginny does enjoy an older, more vintage aesthetic, she'd rather live in an era where women, the LGBTQ+ community and people of colour have equal rights rather than being oppressed.

History:

The flower bloomed and faded. The sun rose and sank. The lover loved and went. And what the poets said in rhyme, the young translated into practice.

–Virginia Woolf, Orlando

Erik Adler was a literature professor at NYU as well as a son of Athena, when during a social mixer he met Calliope, under the pseudonym of Arianne McCarthy. This wasn't the first time he'd met a goddess, nevermind one with such a similar scope to himself - years earlier he'd met and courted Mnemosyne for a while before she left without a word, never to see him again. Calliope was enchanting, reading one of Erik's poems up on the stage - the two met eyes and the rest was history. A whirlwind romance between the two happened, countless poems and collections were written consuming the entire literary circle, until one day out of the blue, Calliope left. Erik wasn't surprised, he knew what was coming - as a demigod himself he understood perfectly well why Calliope had left. So when a baby girl appeared at his apartment door in a basket, he wasn't the one bit surprised.

He called his daughter Virginia after the author, Virginia Woolf - a favourite of both his and Calliope's and the inspiration for his latest poetry collection: Ode to Orlando. Virginia or Ginny as she was later called, would grow up in a loving home with a loving father and loving grandparents. Erik's father Thomas along with his step-mother Ruth helped in the raising of Ginny - they were one happy family; an anomaly for most demigod families and unlike most demigod families this lasted. The Adler family were always there to support Ginny in whatever she attempted - at one point buying her the violin she so desperately wanted to join the school orchestra. When Ginny experienced her first monster attack at age 10, her father was there to protect her - although she also knew little bits and bobs from her and her father's occasional training sessions. The important thing was that Ginny grew up loved, wanted and appreciated.

The Adler family mostly stayed the same, when monsters attacked Ginny and her father fought them off - they became quite good at it. However, on the eve of her seventeenth birthday, her grandfather was diagnosed with kidney failure - at eighty years old, the man was put very low on the transplant waiting list. However, in a sudden rush of luck, Erik turned out to be a match for his father. While he was nervous due to both his nature as a demigod as well as his father's advanced age - he decided he might as well try and save his life. The procedure went as planned...at least at the beginning. While recovering Thomas composed an epic poem dedicated to Ginny - though it wasn't in his style. Instead, it echoed someone elses', as Erik read it he discovered it was the work of Calliope through his grandfather - it was a message to her daughter, a cry for help.

Thomas took a turn for the worst after finishing the poem, his wound had gotten infected and the kidney was beginning to reject. There was nothing they could do unless another donor came along, the family was devastated and two weeks later - Thomas died, his last words begging Ginny to read the poem. The death of his father spurred Erik for a change, he decided to move to New Athens along with his daughter. Ruth, a mortal, couldn't go with them - heartbroken though she was, she determined it was for the best and bade the two farewell as long as they promised to write. On the road trip to New Athens, Ginny finally read the poem - the lyrical language was unmistakably her mothers, her father had shown her the snippets of her work but why would she made her grandfather write it? She fell asleep, head against the window. The sickly yellow glow of the streetlights fading into the distance as her father pulled in to the driveway of their new home - New Athens. Although, Erik did allow her to stay at camp if she so desired.

Weapon(s): Regular Celestial Bronze Dagger - handed down from her father

- Although only breath, words which I command are immortal. - Sirene
