  • Personality
Willa is bold; she stands up for what she believes is right, despite the odds that might stack up against her. She's smart and strategic, typically knowing what you're gonna do right before you do - she's just hard-wired for it. She's courageous and has the guts that others lack; she's willing to do basically anything so long as she believes it's the just thing to do. She has a heart of gold and often finds it very hard to put herself in front of others, but at the end of the day, she recognizes that's just what she has to do to survive. That said, she really does like to show off a lot. She tends to be very boastful and egotistical, despite her best intentions. She has her mother's quick wits and her father's strength, not just physically but rather mentally & emotionally, too. Overall, it's best you try to leave her be - she has the experience and knowledge she needs to fuck you up, and with a temper as short as hers - well, you really don't want to trigger her even once.
  • History
Willa Clayton wasn't always alone in the womb; she has a twin, not that she knows of it. Interestingly so, her twin is a daughter of Hecate. At least if we're going by technicalities. It's hard to understand these circumstances if you don't know how a bit more into their background. You see, they were both supposed to be children of Asteria & her then-mortal lover Sirius Belfrey. However, she wouldn't be able to carry them both to term. Both Willa and her twin died in childbirth, so Asteria sought out her daughter's help as well as Ares'. It wasn't supposed to go down this way, but in the end, it did and that's what mattered. Both owed her favors; she'd saved multiple of Ares' children and had previously provided Hecate with solace and advice about her latest issues regarding her legacies in camp.
Asteria had the tendency to give a course in Astronomy 101 at the local university in Sirius' town. He was a student who showed much promise as an astronomer. He was Asteria's star student (pun totally intended), who naturally disliked the concept of failing her course. You can see where this story is headed, I'm sure. One thing led to another and his fear of failing Astronomy 101 saw Sirius and Asteria tumbling into a heated dalliance. It didn't last long, as they got caught and Asteria was fired, whilst Sirius was expelled. The former didn't care much - she could make them forget with a snap of her fingers. But Sirius - he was angry and disappointed at himself.
It only worsened when he realized Asteria had up and left, as though she'd never been there at all. He was able to go on with his life, accepted into another university and continuing his studies to become an astronomer. It wasn't long into the pregnancy when the issues surfaced. While Asteria was a goddess and could virtually fix anything, it was different when the issue came because of a curse placed on Asteria in light of mistakes she'd committed centuries prior. It had intended to destroy any chances of providing her with a solid legacy. Asteria had no options but to cash in two favors owed to her; one twin would be carried by Hecate and the other would be the child Ares & his then-lover would conceive.
Lorraine & Ares never tittered onto dating territory. They were there for hook ups - that was it. No emotions, no ties, no nothing. They were both open to seeing others - Ares more so than Lorraine, given his need to protect his line and fill his cabin with kids - and were strongly opposed to settling for one another. It's only natural from Ares' behalf, since he's not that kind of guy plus it is against Ancient Laws, but Lorraine had always been the steady kind of woman until she'd met Ares. Lorraine never figured out he was a god - she kind of just imagined he hit the gym pretty often to have such big muscles and a hell of a strength. It never occurred to her that he could be the god of war.
That's why she was surprised he fled once he'd found out about her pregnancy. She knew he wouldn't be thrilled, but she'd expected him to at least grow some balls and stick around long enough to see his kid be born. She didn't figure out Ares was a god until Willa was well into her pre-teen years. Even then, she was hesitant to believe him. Why should she? He'd never given her a reason to do so; all he cared about was pussy and that was that. She figured he'd somehow been trying to worm his way back into her parents, even though she drier than the sahara. Poor bitch. Her good years had come and gone; there was not much left for her other than to raise Willa.
Willa was born on December 26, 1999, to a mother that soon developed post-partum depression and an absent father. The first few months of her life were rough. She was malnourished and neglected - she didn't really experience that maternal love from Lorraine. No, the woman preferred to shy away from her responsibilities as a mother and try to get back in the stripping game while juggling a job as a waitress to at least have a semi-responsible front. Despite her reluctance to be a good mother towards Willa, she also refused to let anyone realize how badly Willa's life was going. She didn't want to risk losing her daughter.
Consequently, Willa grew up wholeheartedly believing she was a mistake. Not only did her mother step away from her job as a waitress, but she turned towards prostitution for a profession. She went from bad to worse, and so did the conditions in which Willa lived. It was up to her to scavenge for food while not using the money her mother made. God help her if she even considered using it for food. She had to go out and beg for people's left-overs. As a child, it was more often than not that she received the help needed, and that's how they survived. There were many times that she was approached by social workers, yet every time she managed to evade them. Willa was strong and smart - she could handle herself in the streets, against anyone that tried to pick a fight with her.
This proved to be true shortly after her thirteenth birthday. She and Lorraine were still under the impression that nothing was wrong; that there was no imminent dangers. If only they knew how wrong they were. Willa remembers it as clear as day. Her first attack was one of the furies - Megaera. At the time, her mother had prohibited her from entering their one-room, run-down apartment due to the illicit activities that were taking place inside the walls, so she was out, playing with the other kids of the neighborhood. She was faced with two options; try and take on the mythological creature or run like hell towards safety. She was initially frozen, unable to do anything other than stare on in horror while the kids that surrounded her bolted, screaming for a reason that to this day goes beyond Willa.
Naturally, she ran. While she didn't escape the fury fully unscathed, she was able to dodge most of its attacks and take shelter in an abandoned building with sealed windows and a broken door. She struggled to keep Megaera outside the building, but it wasn't long before the fury caught whiff of a stronger demigod scent and gave up on the daughter of Ares. The rabid look on the fury's face and her need for demigod blood still haunts Willa to this day. It really had been a scary experience, to the point where she refused to even consider leaving the premises. Whatever that thing had been, Willa didn't want to see again. She didn't return home until the day after, and that wasn't even a willing situation. The police had found her after the building's neighbors had called in a break-in on the place. While it was abandoned, Willa technically had broken in. She had been surprised to discover that she'd forced the doors open - they, too, had been bolted shut.
Ares had forgotten all about Lorraine and Willa alike. It's not like he kept tabs on his kids, and told Lorraine as much when he finally got around to realizing that his latest teenage spawn was wreaking havoc in the Lower East Side in New York. Truth be told, Lorraine believed he was a madman wanting to get back into her pants. She was still stuck on that mentality that she was the hottest piece of meat around, when she really wasn't. The visit had promptly ended with Ares giving her a loud fuck you and an equally as indignant Lorraine Clayton flipping him off and tell him to go get some crusty ass pussy, you weak, low-life fuck-up.
Willa only remembers coming home the day of Ares' visit to discover that her mother had ODed on heroin. It was a dark day, and the ones that followed weren't much better. Her years blurred together after that, where Willa was forced to go from foster home to foster home, each worse than the one before it. Apparently good fortune wasn't on her side. Her home life was unsteady, as you can see, but Willa never failed to protect herself. It was many the times that her foster fathers tried to come onto her, or her foster brothers, and every time she'd be able to ward them off before making swift escapes.
Similarly, her foster mothers never truly bothered to do anything good for her. She was just a source of income from the state government, that was all. She had many reasons to hate the way her life turned out. She had many reasons to go against Ares and everything he stood for. She had every single reason to allow herself to wither away and become nothing. But day after day, Willa proved to be stronger than that. She was - she is - very resilient, and won't allow herself to become like her mother. She's better than that. She won't let the humanity inside of her crumble into dust. Not because of her mother's fuck-ups. No, she wouldn't.
She found out she was an Ares daughter after a run in with an ongoing Camp Half-Blood quest. She had just run away from her latest home, and was in Central Park when they stumbled across her, trying to defend herself from a pack of hellhounds. The hellhounds seemed to be protecting something. It was the same something the group of demigods had been sent out to retrieve. Under the correct belief that she was a demigoddess, they took her to Camp, where she was sorted as a daughter of Ares. She was fifteen when that happened. Willa was there for all of two weeks. Just long enough to get some weaponry designed just for her in the Hephaestus Cabin, get basic training in, and get back into a better shape. After that, she toured the country on foot, going from state to state and never looking back.
It's been two years now; she's freshly eighteen. After run ins with more monsters than she could count, more broken hearts than you could expect, and a lot of broken bones, Willa is seeking out some stability. That's why she's decided to return to Camp.
  • Weapons
She has a sword from the Hephaestus Cabin, as well as a shield.
