Monster Hunting/I had a dream I ate a four pound marshmallow and when I woke up my pillow was gone-KhaeNin (talk) 17:56, February 15, 2016 (UTC)

Name: Leading the quest is the Char Xanxus Besta

God Parent: Hephaestus

The reason for the quest: Xanxus created a way to track monsters by using the dust they leave upon death. This is a field test of the device that he created after he was notified that the monster had reformed.

A general Idea: This is going to be a cross continent possibly year long quest while they search for the Lamia. From camp they are traveling to Africa where the Lamia is believed to have respawned.

The EndGame/Mission Goal: This may lead to the entrapment of high level monsters who have been killed and need to be tracked down again for Revenge, Information (If the monster can speak), Getting a lost item, Etc. They are only tracking a Lamia because they are trying to confirm it is the same Lamia.

The map: Will include Camp, New York air port, Brazil, San Luis, Guinea, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon, Dominican rep. of congo, south sudan, sudan, Egypt, The Sahara, Ancient Tomb in the

The Questers:

RPKingNin Xanxus Besta

Steven Winterson Steven Winterson

DaichiAoi Oh Min'gyu

Yukaronachan Sylvio Paltara

MetroMara Alena Beckenbauer

JamesD16 Blake Yeves

Getting Started:

Xanxus wakes up in his section of the forge because of a very annoying beeping sound coming from somewhere. He searches everywhere becoming more agitated by he fact that he can't find where the sound is coming from. Until it hits him and he feels his heart race, he scrambles over to the cabinet where a message is scrolling across the TrackerX' screen. "MONSTER LOCATED! MONSTER LOCATED!" and he cheers his cheer making MiniRow wake up "Xanxus?" it questions. "Row it works! It really worked! It found the Lamia me and Steven killed!" He presses a button and row dispenses a multiflavor lollipop. Which Xanxus puts in his mouth still elated when he grabs Row's stumps and dances with the bot.

He rushes to the Camp director quickly explaining the situation and pleading his case to go and find the Lamia now named Piera. The director sits there thinking over the young man's request knowing that with this invention monsters would be on the defensive. Despite this the quest is dangerous and would be extremely taxing on those involved. With some persuading he eventually agrees to late them go asking the young man to be careful. Xanxus looks at him and smiles "I will Alex I promise".

Layout:

The oracle gives him the prophecy and he is still slightly confused by it but know he has to find the "original hunter" meaning Steven and clansmen like Artemis. He finds and ask all people that would do him good and sets off. They have funds and supplies and reach the airport without much problem until they make a stop in Brazil for the plane to refuel and for the passengers to stretch their legs. They fight harpies disguised as beautiful and wearing Hawaiian flower print shirt. Fighting the harpies make them late for the plane and they have to stow away on a plane that transports them to Guinea and they hop on a tourist bus going from there to Egypt their original destination.

In Egypt they travel the sand dunes in buggies provided by a mysterious old man who winks at them wishing them good luck. One of their buggies get stuck in a pit and a scorpion comes out ready for a fight (pit scorpion lol). They stop for repairs but as they do they here a hissing noise coming from a few feet away and a familiar voice says. "Ssssso we meet again Xanxus and Ssssteven" and they engage the Lamia. Following it's tracks they find that the Lamia came from an underground tunnel. Following the tunnel leads them to a corridor with ancient Egyptian writing that MiniRow decodes using an app Xanxus installed before hand. Turns out the tomb was excavated and left alone, the traps already used but, there was an opened portal to tarturas itself opened by some force of evil. Whatever opened it left supplies and weapons they were going to use for or sell possibly keep for themselves but the demi-gods take them as spoils of war.

They take a plane from Egypt back to New York by conning someone out of their tickets then sneaking on to the plane in a very demi-god fashion. They arrive back at camp and go to tell Alexander the good news realizing only a month has passed despite all of the excitement.

Quest Rewards:

Xanxus Besta- a rubix cube turns into nearly anything. Like a pair of roller blades or a look a like phone even a sword or shield. Nothing it turns into can be more than three times bigger than him.

Steven Winterson- A miniature version of the Leo belt worn at the hip that is ,despite it's size, a medium sized storage bin on the inside able to fit small items such as potions, arrow heads, etc.

Oh Min'gyu- This is a typical egyptian ceremonial blade, decorated with mystic runes. By looking into it, Ming'yu can sometimes see people's dreams reflected onto the blade, similar to the legendary Katopris which saw possible reflections of the future.

Blake Yeves- A chakram disc charmed to always return to the thrower and can split into crescent moon shaped halves that can be thrown like a boomerang.

Alena Beckenbauer- The pharaohs dagger. The dagger has hieroglyphics that glows when monsters are around. The more hieroglyphics glowing is the more dangerous a monster is.

Sylvio Paltara- A twining ring with studs on both ends that becomes a double bladed Mirkwood pole arm upon circling the ring with a finger

Comment

Hi Nin! Thanks for making your first quest claim and asking me to check it. The basics seem to be there but there are a few things I think you should do, before the ship is ready to set sail :D

Quest/Plot Mechanics

  • Okay. Alexander wouldn't lightly choose to send the demigods on a quest, just to get rid of them. CHB is there explicitly to shelter them from the outside world, so I feel your reasons for the quest need to be developed even further. I assume that they're tracking down a lamia, who keeps shadow travelling between places to try lose/trick the demigods?
  • Why do they fly through Brazil, only to have a fight and leave? This seems a little convoluted. Also, why would they follow a dangerous monster like a Lamia, when they could try it on a simpler foe such as a hellhound?
  • Why is it necessary to sail through Guinea and other African countries? Surely, if the tracker worked then they could pinpoint her exact location, unless the device has somehow been damaged or lost to the extent where it didn't work fully.
  • Scylla is known as 'the horror of the deep.' I doubt that she would let the party pass peacefully.
  • I assume the identity of the old man is kept secret? Also the BC wasn't formed back in Egyptian times. From what I've read, Egyptian culture was first and then the Greeks/Romans took over later, so the tomb couldn't really belong to a BC demigod. However, many was nonetheless set with traps etc.
  • Why would the Lamia choose to stay there? Is the tomb a place of magical significance? Could the device have been triggered by magic to lure the demi-gods to that exact location?? This part definitely needs more explaination.
  • Okay, it's a hole to Tartarus. But, many of the monsters are fought in other countries. Africa is an extremely large landmass and not all the monsters can be attributed to one sinkhole, however this could link into my last bullet point. Also, Tutankhamun's tomb has already been emptied. But there are many undiscovered tombs in the Valley of Kings.
  • A whole year passing may adversely affect the RP storyline of some demigods. The projected time for a quest ic should be from around 1-2 weeks to a month at most. I recommend you streamline your quest and also use fast travel methods like Shadow Travel if possible.

Quest Rewards

  • I think that some of these rewards should definitely be reconsidered. Perhaps they find things that date from the Egyptian period, or items which are recovered from the hole from Tartarus. I'd recommend that you don't use items which make a demigod's powers much stronger (ie: Sylvio, Mingyu etc}. If you need individual items, I can help you in PM or IM, as I have clogged this bit enough.

Xanxus's award can easily become over powered so I would like you to clarify the statement in order to institute limitations on its abilities
