Quest Leader: Marylyn Bell

God Parent: Apollo

The following message took place during a dream:

Dear Marylyn,

Hello Marylyn, I have some bad news for you.  My favorite lute has been stolen! I sent one of my light nymphs to find it, and it claims that it's near the center of the Sea of Monsters!  Even worse, there’s a barrier keeping me from getting to it! So, I need you to cut through the Sea of Monsters, get to that cave, take care of the series of monsters sealed within, get my lute, and leave as fast as you can! Try and take your new friends, especially Catalina, as she’s the daughter of my prime suspect.  Oh, and just a warning, only a child of Apollo or a light nymph can wield my lute fully, and don’t go playing it! It will cause-- (The dream ended before Apollo could finish.)

-Apollo

Overview: The quest revolves around the group trying to retrieve Apollo’s favorite lute.  The location is known, but a light nymph claims that only heroes can go in and retrieve it.  After being supplied a boat by the light nymph, the group travels through the Sea of Monsters to a cave near the center of the Sea of Monsters, encountering Siren’s Island on the way over.  After arriving, they enter the cave, which is filled with monsters (Flesh-eating sheep, lamiai, it depends). After reaching the center of the cave, Marylyn takes the lute, only to be attacked by the light nymph, who manages to wrestle it out fully, and uses it to control large beams of light and materializes light creatures.  The group then fights the light nymph and defeats it. Afterward, they take the lute (and a small orb that can teleport the user(s) to Olympus) and get back to Olympus, giving the lute back to Apollo.

Monsters: The trip to the cave will have the occasional monster attack (harpies, Siren’s Island, ocean monsters), but the cave will make up for it, being stuffed with Medium-Level monsters.

End game: The light nymph was a leader of a small group of rebel nymphs called "the Olympic Enlightened", which had existed since the Enlightenment, and had stolen Apollo’s lute.  They were, and still are, a small group of nymphs who had become unloyal to the gods.  The leader light nymph was hidden because originally that location was their old base, and stolen because they wanted the gods to see their true potential.

Locations:

The Oracle Cave: There, we'll get the prophecy for our quest and head to a dock nearby, where we'll get a map and a boat from a light nymph.

Sea of Monsters:  After arriving at the sea of monsters, the questers and leaders need to plan for what they will do once they near Siren's Island.  After they get past that point, they will arrive at the secret cave a day or so.

Secret Cave: The cave is a dark and dreary sight, being filled with harpies and medium-level monsters.  Near the lute, the players will encounter a Minotaur, fight the light nymph, and deliver the lute and nymph back to Olympus.

Olympus:  Here, the players will talk to Apollo, Hades, and (probably) Hera.  Apollo will reveal the truth of the light nymph (and therefore the end game) and will gift each of the questers an item as thanks.

Questers: Catalina White and Kara Rudkidoff

Your claim looks very interesting, but there are a few things I have to note before it can be claimed.

  • Who stole the lute? Why was it stolen in the first place?
  • I don't think the quest would be mostly monsterless, given that two children from the Olympians will be tagging together.
  • What is the "Enlightened" and what's so special about this light nymph?

Until these questions are answered, I'm afraid it cannot be claimed.

Hey Devil!

Just a point out, the light nymph that was featured throughout here was the thief and it was stolen as a proof of their power, as they were ignored by the gods most of the time.  Also "the Olympic Enlightened" is a small group of nymphs that rebelled against the gods.

Thanks for checking~!

I like the idea of this quest! I do have my own set of questions myself if you'd be so kind as to elaborate on them!

  • Is there a specific reason as to why Apollo can't get to the lute? He says in his dream that he's blocked from getting there due to a barrier; can you elaborate?
  • Just to clarify, although a group of nymphs stole the lute, only one of them has it? It says the questors will only fight one nymph, is this correct?
    • Just to elaborate: this isn't an issue. I'm just wondering if this group will assist their leader or if the quest goers have managed to corner her to be on her own and whatnot.
  • Also, Catalina is said to be going on this quest as she's the child of the prime suspect (which appears to be Hades, according to her page), but the actual entity that stole the lute is a light nymph. This is a little confusing; is Hades involved or not? Especially given that Apollo would reveal "the truth" about the nymph later on - does he think Hades has done it or not?

I think those are the issues I see with it, otherwise it can be approved if you ask me!

Pixie Stick Heart rip open a pixie stick with your teeth and empty it into my gaping ass!!! love u mom Oli

Hey Oli!

Just a point out, Apollo can't get the lute because the light nymphs of the Olympic Enlightened placed a forcefield around the cave, preventing anyone with pure divinity from entering.

Also, your second question is correct. The one the players will be fighting is the leader.

The leader will be helped to get to the lute, but, being the only child of Apollo, only she can grab it.

Well, he originally thought that Hades stole his lute because he suggested they put their weapons away for a bit.  Of course, Hades wasn't the criminal and was spared.

Hello!

I honestly don't think that light nymphs would even be capable of creating such a powerful forcefield (that's not something even a demigod would be capable of). Unfortunately, as far as light nymphs go on the wiki, their powers are somewhat limited.

If you could also list the rewards that will be given to the questers, that'd be greatly appreciated (just so we can take a look and make sure that nothing is overpowered)!
