Air Arena
Arenas aire2
  • The objects in the arena have been charmed to almost defy gravity, floating around, boulders, rocks, etc
  • At the base level of this arena is just normal ground with vegetation/shrubs/grass and trees, as well as varying size terrain, ranging from a few feet tall, to much taller
  • Floating high above in the air is small islands, some with greenery and vines hanging down towards the ground, ranging in size and height from the ground, so that even if a person didn't have the power of flight, if they are an adept climber, everything is spaced out enough they could climb as high as possible, as well as utilise some of the smaller floating debree to aid in their climb. Some of the floating islands even have small waterfalls
  • Between the floating islands and the tall peeks and trees, there are plenty of shadows and places to hide
  • On two sides of the arena there are 2 automaton birds stationed, currently in "off" mode, they are roughly 6 feet tall.
  • The arena is open to the sky and elements
  • On each end of the arena, on top of some large pillars, are pyres, full of fire and wood. The fire that burns within the pyres can not be extinguished, but if the fire is removed from the pyres, it can then be put out.

Shen steps into the lower level of the arena, serenely breathing in the open air. He takes a moment to survey his surroundings, taking particular note of the hanging vines and metallic birds above him. For this battle, Jian has decided to array himself somewhat differently. Instead of a simple celestial bronze chestplate under his tunic, he has instead decided to clad himself in Ancient Chinese celestial bronze armor which he wears over his tunic. This armor comes complete with a chestplate, shoulderpads, greaves, and shinguards. On his head he wears a hoplite's helm, complete with vertical plumage. Wrapped around his wrist is his bamboo bracelet that transforms into a spear. Two deer horn knives are attached to his back which are similar in appearance but different from the pair he lost during his last fight. Instead of his Jian sword which was also lost in the fight, Jian has brought a large celestial bronze round shield which currently sits in brooch form attached to his chest.

Nayra Capac ~ Hecate Counsellor
Nayra32

“It's still magic even if you know how it's done.”
She enters the arena, emerging beneath one of the metallic birds. She takes a moment to assess the arena, the floating islands and whatnot. She is dressed in loose jeans tucked into hunting boots, each concealing a dagger. She wears a simple t-shirt with an enchanted leather over-shirt covering it, her arms exposed. A celestial bronze chest plate completes her armour. Her scimitar, Inti, is in bracelet form on her wrist. Instead of a potions pouch, this battle she has opted for a cane. The handle is a celestial bronze eagle's head, the beak sharp and pointed. The top unscrews to reveal four potions neatly stacked on top of one another, two heath and two energy potions in total. The lining of the cane is celestial bronze, while the outer is wood, allowing for electric currents to run through it with ease. She begins to stroll through the arena, tapping her cane on the ground, attempting to spot her opponent.

It doesn't take Jian long to notice Nayra skulking around, and he quickly leaps to her location. He greets her with a respectful bow and a friendly "hello", all the while keeping a wary eye on the cane she is carrying.

“It's still magic even if you know how it's done.”
She gives Jian a friendly half-wave, a little startled at his sudden proximity. "Uh, hey there." She's intimidated by his appearance, and, having not seen him around camp, presumes him to be an enemy from the Broken Covenant. Despite her fear, she stands proud and tall (well, as tall as she can get). "I am Nayra, daughter of the Inca, creator of the mighty Machu Picchu."

Fight

Jian: Jian grins sinisterly. "Nice title you have! You can call me Jian." With that, Jian leaps vertically into the air and lands with a calculated thud, creating a tremor that he hopes will knock Nayra off balance. The moment he lands, he aims a flawlessly performed roundhouse kick toward Nayra with his left leg. Though he is a couple of feet away from Nayra which causes an obvious miss, three invisible shurikens quickly jettison out of his foot as he kicks. He has aimed his roundhouse in just such a way so that the shurikens jettison on a direct trajectory toward Nayra's neck.

Nayra: As she sees Jian ascend to the skies, she does the same, casting a levitation spell on herself. Upon realising he was jumping, not flying, she begins to descend slowly, wanting to keep the upper ground against the warrior. The roundhouse kick seems pointless to her, until she feels the thud of the three shuriken in her armoured torso, their target altered by Nayra's height above ground. Though the attack has no effect on her, she becomes extremely wary of her opponent with his invisible attacks. Now unsure of her plan of attack, she morphs into a wolf merely to distract Jian, leaping high over his head. As she lands, she morphs back to human form and swings her cane in for a flat blow to the back of Jian's knees, hoping to knock him over.

Jian: Jian flinches as he is leapt over, but as he turns around he sees that Nayra has regained her human form and he sighs in relief. However, his relief is cut short as the minute he turns around, he winces in pain as Nayra's cane collides with his left knee. Fortunately, his knee is only struck by a wooden portion of the cane so the impact simply causes his knee to buckle slightly. Needing to buy some time to regain his footing, Jian quickly performs a throwing motion in Nayra's direction, not throwing anything but hoping to cause her to double take. As he regains his stance, he begins to deeply consider the implications of Nayra's use of a levitation spell. Jian quickly aims a shifty grin at Nayra and then leaps high into the air, descending approximately 30 yards away on the top of a nearby tree. Jian realizes that while his leaping ability is an innate one, Nayra's levitation clearly is the result of some spellwork. He hopes to lure Nayra into a game of cat and mouse and in this way drain her energy.

Nayra: She ducks to avoid what she thinks is an invisible projectile and, after making sure nothing has made contact, she stands up straight to find Jian far away from her. She sighs, realising the projectile was just a distraction, and runs to the nearest hanging from a floating island, climbing to the top. She jumps from island to island, slipping but never losing her balance, attempting to gain some ground on Jian. As she journey's above the ground, she makes mental notes of he abilities of her opponent. His skills and powers are unknown to Nayra, though she guesses that too many invisible projectiles will tire out Jian as will the constant use of his massive leaps. Now with Jian in her sights, she shouts, "αστραπή!" and a bolt of lightning arcs from her outstretched hand towards Jian.

Jian: Nayra's lightning bolt strikes approximately three feet below Jian, but nevertheless sets the tree alight. Forced back into the air, he grimaces as he feels a slight burn on his right leg. However, Jian quickly regains his composure as this is all part of the plan and he takes solace in knowing that the lightning bolt only serves to further his aims. Making for the bottom level of the arena, Jian quickly forms an invisible throwing axe and throws it at Nayra in an effort to possibly bisect a limb as he descends from his leap onto the primary level of the arena.

Nayra: She grimaces at the oh-so-slight headache the lightning bolt brings on and seats herself on the island in a cross-legged position and unscrews the cap of her cane. She briefly hears a whistling sound pass above her head before she draws out an energy potion from her cane, presuming Jian had used another invisible weapon. She drinks half of the potion, knowing she'll need all the energy she can get if her opponent continues the fight in the same manner. She pops the bottle back in it's place and screws the cap on again tightly. Moving to the edge of the island, Nayra grins wickedly as she notices the deer horn knives strapped to Jian's back. She calls out to him, tired of his running. "I don't suppose this is a game of cat and mouse, now, is it?" Her hands twist behind her back, fireballs burning bright in them.

Jian: Amused yet undaunted by Nayra's attempt to verbally subvert his tactics, Jian mockingly salutes her from below. Suddenly, his eye catches sight of what appears to be smoke billowing behind Nayra. Upon closer inspection, he realizes that Nayra's hands are behind her back and he acknowledges that she must be wielding fireballs. He is not overly concerned with an attack by such incendiary tactics, but he is ever wary of an attack toward his back, particularly with his prized deerhorn knives firmly strapped ot it. With this in mind, he determines that his bet best would be to make for a location that would help mitigate such a possibility. Leaping into the air once more, Jian heads toward the southernmost end of the arena where he knows the pillars and pyre to be. A more arduous journey this time around, his expedition toward the end of the arena takes a few leaps to complete.

Nayra: She notices Jian's dramatic-looking movement towards the pyres and extinguishes her fireballs. She makes her way precariously across the floating islands, reaching the pyres eventually. From her position, she is much closer to the pyres than Jian, the flames just below her island. Intending on utilizing the flames, she sends a volley of small fireballs down to Jian, about twelve, wanting to see him move around to avoid them. She smiles down at him sweetly hoping to make Jian a little wary of her.

Jian: Needing to avoid certain incineration at the hands of the fireballs yet still conscious of energy use, Jian opts to use his protective sphere ability instead of his customarily used invulnerability. After the last of Nayra's spherical pyro strikes glance harmlessly off of his force shield, Jian immediately deactivates it and leaps onto Nayra's island with a light tremor. Having exhausted a consequential quota of energy and certain that Nayra has as well especially with her latest barrage, Jian hopes to at least briefly engage Nayra in close quarters combat. With this mindset entrenched, Jian faces Nayra and assumes a combat ready stance, pulling out his deer horn knives as he does so.

Nayra: She wobbles slightly from Jian's impact, noting his lack of burns, she presumes he used his seemingly invisible powers to deflect the fireballs. She shrugs and resumes her easy stance, not even close to being a combat stance. Only very slightly drained from the use of the fireballs, she gives a calm smile as she waves her hands in front of her in a mystic pattern, looking distracting. She mutters in Greek, stopping after a minute and grinning at Jian. Her hand movements stop and she assumes a combat stance, know safely in the knowledge that her fresh curse on Jian's deer horn knives (for them to become ineffective) will remain for the duration of the battle. She has a headache from the spell, having customized it, but doesn't let is show as she motions for Jian to make to first move.

Jian: As eager as he is to unleash upon Nayra with reckless abandon, he can't fight a lingering suspicion as he observes Nayra finish her strange muttering. Instincively, he lifts one of his deer horn knives and attempts to cut the sleeve of his other harm. Acknowledging that the knife didn't even tear it in the slightest, Jian surmises that her spell must have tampered with his knives in some way. Casting his knives aside, Jian activates his spear but hesitates. Still determined to engage in close quarters combat yet deprived of the ideal weaponry for doing so, he realizes he needs to rethink his strategy. Jian ultimately determines that instead of focusing on Nayra herself, he needs to focus on her cane, which has become apparent to him as the key to Nayra's power. With this objective enacted, he decides to call upon his rarely utilized power of enchanting an existing weapon with positive or negative effects. Focusing his mind on Nayra's cane, Jian attempts to enchant it to begin to sprout sharp spikes all over it, intending to cause Nayra enough pain to eliminate her ability to continue wielding it. Immediately after utilizing this ability, he follows this up by sending a substantial force wave toward Nayra, attempting to blast the hopefully dropped cane away from the area and out immediate access.

Nayra: She is horribly annoyed her spell was discovered before the fight could even begin. She quickly dismantles her spell so Jian is none the wiser, hoping he won't think to use his knives for the remainder of the battle. Her annoyance quickly turns into anger, then rage towards Jian. Such a strong emotion clouds her thought process and blocks out what is happening in the battle. All of a sudden, she feels sharp pain in her cane-wielding hand, as if thorns are sprouting into her palm. She cries out, but does not let go of her cane, too stuborn to do so. The pain in her hand quickly helps clear her mind of all emotion towards Jian. It is too late for her, however, as she feels a wall of force ram into her and send her off the edge of the island. As she tumbles through the air she remembers her levitation spell and floats up as quickly as possible, so as not to be seen by Jian. Upon reaching the bottom of the floating island, she entangles herself in the roots and vines growing beneath the island. In a sturdy position, the pain in Nayra's hand begins to dull ever so slightly, enough for her to unfurl her hand from the cane and screw the top off it. She drinks the rest of her energy potion upside down, thanking the world for peristalsis. Now mostly restored in energy, she pulls a dagger out of her right boot and enchants it to seek out and strike Jian while she remains safely entangled beneath the island.

Jian: Jian is disappointed with his failure to eradicate the threat of the cane, but pleased with the impact of his force wave. Having regained his cool, Jian decides to bend down and retrieve his deerhorn knives and take them with him. However, he reaches for them rather clumsily and accidently cuts his right finger slightly on one of the blades. He initially thinks nothing of this, but it suddenly dawns on him that this can only mean that the effectiveness of his blades has returned. Grinning in triumph, Jian tenderly places his knives back on his back and scans the arena for Nayra. All of the sudden, a knife speeds out of nowhere and stabs into his left shoulderpad, ever so slightly penetrating his shoulder. Wincing in pain as he withdraws the knife, he cannot spot Nayra so he decides it is best to relocate. He leaps into the air and lands on top of the Southern side avian automaton with a light tremor. Jian knows that he has exhausted an undesirable amount of energy, and so he needs to buy himself time to recuperate and also plot out his next move.

Nayra: She can only assume her knife has made its mark, so slowly picks her way out of the vines beneath the island and climbs as silently as she can onto the top of the island. She hopes to gain visibility of Jian, after feeling him leave the island as it left a tremor. As she reaches the surface of the island, she finds she cannot see him immediately. She constructs a very simple locating spell and finds Jian on the southern side of the arena. She dismantles the spell and ponders if Jian is trying to lead her on again. Considering this would be his most likely tactic, she climbs down from the island and stalks along the lower ground. She finds herself a covered area, where she presumes Jian won't be able to see her, a floating tree hovering in front of her and floating shrubs to the side of her, like a hovering forest. She sits down and concentrates, weaving an elaborate spell. In her mind, she sees the southern bird statue and inhabits it with part of herself, enchanting the mass of the bird to abide her will. Aware that Jian is on top of the hulk of metal, she forces the bird the lower and shake its head, hopefully dislodging Jian from his position.

Jian: Jian holds on desperately to the bucking head of the automaton as it begins descending. He quickly realizes that trying to control the bird in the battle is a lost cause, but he still has another use for it. Rather than trying to prevent its descent, he accelerates it by leaping off ot it and blasting it downward with a large force wave. While he cannot see Nayra, he surmises that she will either have to let the bird be destroyed or exhaust further magical power to spare it since he is certain it was some sort of magic she employed to create its descent to begin with. Combining the force wave with his regular leap prevents him from relocating very far, so he simply lands on the same level that the metallic aviation was formerly located on. Upon landing, he assumes the lotus position and closes his eyes, beginning the process of meditation.

Nayra: While the force wave left only a small dint in the thick metal of the automaton bird, Nayra's scalp felt the partial impact of the attack and it began bleeding. She winced at the pain, but continued with her assault on Jian using the bird, though it drained her so. With her mind, she felt over the mechanics of the bird, and felt its feathers and their attachment to the greater mass of metal. Spinning the bird around, Nayra dislodges 15 giant metal feathers from the bird in an arc, hoping the trajectory will be one near Jian, as she doesn't have the strength to locate him. All the while, she can feel her energy draining, and she feels around at her feet, reassuring herself that her cane is still with her.

Jian: Jian hears the whistling sound of something cutting through the air toward him but barely tilts his head as he creates a forcefield around himself. Once he is contented that the last of the barrage has subsided, he deactivates his forcefield and opens his eyes. Winking at the metallic feathers around him, Jian begins leaping around the arena attempting to locate Nayra. He finally locates her, and lands across from her with a slight tremor. Wishing to preserve his remaining energy for the end, Jian pulls out his deerhorn knives. "Come and get it." He hisses at Nayra as he assumes a combat ready stance and points his knives toward her.

Nayra: As soon as she feels the tremor created from Jian's landing, her eyes fly open and she loses her control of her spell on the bird in her panic. Her head begins reeling and her vision blurs from her exhaustion of her magic. She tries to hide er fatigue from Jian with a grin, though it's uneasy as she notes he isn't making the first move. She shrugs, still grinning. "No thank you, I think I'd rather sit here and restore my energy." Calmly, she unscrews the cap off her cane with her uninjured hand, her wounded hand still clutching the shaft of the cane. She skulls her final energy potion, knowing it's a risk, but willing to take it. She throws the bottle to the ground, smashing it, and stands up slowly after re-capping her cane. For the first time in the battle, she taps on her bracelet and its transforms into her scimitar, Inti, which she clutches in her right hand. She also assumes a combat stance, her back hand holding her scimitar over her head and her cane extended in front of her. She smirks and winks at Jian. "Ready when you are."

Jian: Jian determines that the length of Nayra's cane and scimitar render his deerhorn knives less than ideal for using against them. He decides  to place them on his back and turn to invisible weaponry instead. As his mind races for a suitable weapon to conjure, an idea forms in his mind. Seeing no desire to spare any expense on his energy at this point, he starts off his plan by rendering himself impenetrable to attack. He then feigns like he is conjuring up a large battle-axe and he fakes like he is gripping it in both hands. Afer doing this, he charges at Nayra and swings his arms at her as if able to strike her with the nonexistent battleaxe. But as he closes in with the false attack, he suddenly drops the charade and conjures up a pair of Emei daggers around each of his middle fingers. Hoping Nayra has fallen for his battle-axe feint, he gives a snarl and attempts to plunge both of the Emei daggers into Nayra's neck.
