Darkness/Night/Underworld Arena

Darkness arena
  • On the top side of this arena it is a typical landscape, a pond in the middle, trees, however it is charmed to be eternally night, with the stars and moon in the sky
  • Located in the middle of the arena on the top side is a small grave yard
  • At a few various point around the arena are dark caves going deep down into the underworld, this part of the underworld has been sealed off from the rest, so that anyone may gain access no matter who their god parent
  • The arena is open to the sky and elements, but as there are caves down into the underworld, there are areas of the arena that the sky access is limited
  • At the centre of the underworld, there is a medium sized temple, it is the darkest at this point and there are pyres, full of fire and wood, at the entrance to the temple. The fire that burns within the pyres can not be extinguished, but if the fire is removed from the pyres, it can then be put out.
  • Inside the temple are various Greek statues, roughly 6 feet tall

He wears nothing above his belt, but his navy blue shirt, chestplate, arm guards, and helm lay propped against a statue of his father, Thanatos. On his face and chest, Alexander has drawn Samoan tribal symbols. As he dances, Alexander chants the Samoan Siva Tau. Mixed in is a prayer to Lord Ares, for strength in the battle, and Lady Nike, for a swift victory. After finishing, he applies his clothing and armour, the swords he keeps as a back up jingling against his greaves. Around his neck he wears the usual puka shell necklace, ready to become his celestial bronze fireknife. After preparing, he kneels at the statue of his father, praying once more for a blessing.

Alice creeps through the night, empowered by it, but moving with her posture low and to the edges of the dense foliage around her, her eyes carefully scanning for any sign of an opponent. As she clears a cluster of bushes she spots Alex; clearly outlined against the night sky, and deep in prayer. Unsure what to make of the display, she slowly moves back into the bushes, her long dark coat serving to camouflage her between the leaves and branches. After tying back her hair in a small bun at the nape of her neck, she uses the knife in her boot to dig into the soil below and, finding an excess of damp soil, she begins to smother it across her face and hair; touched by a pang of regret and annoyance as she considers just how long it'll take to clean afterwards. With her entire body, even her gloved hands, covered by a dark layer of material or mud, she returns the knife to her boot and observes her opponent from the silent shadows.

He pulls it over the bulky form of his armour, hiding the definite outlines of his armour. With the cloak on, his swords are hidden, and as he sits down on a stair to the temple, he appears to look unarmed.

Alice watches as he dons the cloak and seats himself on the temple steps. Remaining hidden, but keeping Alex in view, she prepares to make her move.

Fight

Alexander: He knows his opponent is present in the arena. Since he was busy preparing for the fight, he suspects she must be aware of his position, and has kept herself hidden. He summons a ghost, keeps it's form invisible, and sends it out to find Alice. Carefully, Alexander reaches under his armour, and tears off his shirt. He continues to tear the shirt into small pieces, about a half a foot squared each. Using a scythe, Alexander put the squares into the pyre, removing them before they burned too much, and placed them around the temple, lighting up the temple significantly. Following the same strategy as his fight with Cody, he sets the sycthe he created for the fire, and a new one about 6 feet from each other in the center of the temple. The scythes cast several flickering shadows, guaranteeing that he'll never shadow travel to the same position twice. The ghost retuns, tell Alexander that it couldn't find her, but that a group of bushes outside the temple were rustling suspiciously.

Alice: Unaware of the ghost's observations, but noting Alex's preparations, Alice covertly shadowtravels a short distance to the rear of the temple with a plan in mind. Confident that her movement went unnoticed, she silently creeps along the side of the structure, hoping that the crackling of the blaze covers her footsteps, eventually coming to to a point where, were she to step out, she would put herself in plain view of her opponent and the pyre. Creating some items from the shadows, a loaded crossbow, a number of small caltrops, and a vaguely rotund object, she sets the first item on the ground before her carefully. Then, taking the caltrops in one hand and the object in the other she creates an area of total blackness around Alex and the Pyre, quickly throws the rock towards the other side of the entrance, scatters the caltrops across the ground directly inside the entrance, and grabs the crossbow; turning it and raising it to fire at Alexander's center of mass, confidence high as she is able to see where he is not.

Alexander: Startled by the sudden darkness, Alexander pulls in a deep gasp. Quickly calming himself, he goes over what he's aware of. A jingle was mad on the flor near the entrance, and he has no clue what made the sound. Opting to take the easy way out, Alexander uses the new darkness to shadow travel out of the temple, welco.ing back his sight. Once outside, he sees Alice, and started to slowly stalk to her rear. However, he realizes that Alice has perfect vision in the shadows, and obviously noticed his disapearance. Scrapping the idea for a sneak attack, Alexander rushes her, and scythe materializing in his hands as he brings them down in a wide arc, followed by a horizontal slash at her midriff. Using the movement of the horizontal slash, Alexander directs the blade at the pyre, hoping to make it fall, or atleast weaken it's base..

Alice: As Alexander disappears before her eyes, she quickly searches the temple for him and then disperses the shadows, the caltrops, and the rock, transforming the crossbow into her usual blade and creating a shield to compliment it; much like an Aspis but with a toothed edge intended to catch the blade of an opponent's weapon. Hearing Alexander's charge behind her, she turns to confront him, bringing her shield around just soon enough to deflect Alexander's first strike, and intercept the point of his second slash towards her stomach. Attempting to use the force of his slash against him, she pushes outward with her shield and steps forward; moving into and past the reach of the scythe's blade and attempting to bring her own blade up into Alexander's gut.

Alexander: In an attempt to do more damage, Alexander pushes the top of the scythe towards Alice's abdomen with one hand, pulling hard and changing the orientation of the blade to aim it at her shield arm. He moves his open hand in a clockwise motion, pushing the blade Alice conjured away from his tummy. Now free, Alexander dispels the scythe and backs down the temple stairs, making sure not to fall, but keeping an eye on Alice. Once at the bottom, Alexander reaches behind him, loosing the back up saber he keeps from it's scabbard. The blade is about 3 feet in length, quite long, but extremely light. Alexander takes a defensive stance, planning to do most of the defending this match.

Alice: With Alexander's other hand fending off her blade, his scythe isn't too hard to simply push aside with her shield arm, and once it vanishes she's able to turn her full attention back to Alexander. As she now has the high ground, she steps back about a foot or so from the tall steps, transfers her blade to her shield hand, uses her sword hand to briefly scatter an arc of small caltrops behind her, and forms a loaded crossbow which she steadies upon her shield; firing a bolt directly toward Alexander's center of mass.

Alexander: He completely expected a long distance weapon and dives the the side the second he sees her take aim. He managed to avoid having any vital organs pierced, but the bolt found itself grazing his right calf, causing a small bit of blood to trickle from the wound. He stands, putting pressure on his right leg. Luckily, it wasn't anything too deep, and he can manage with his leg the way it is. He contemplates shadow traveling behind her, but decides she's expecting that. He takes advantage of the light in the temple behind her to shadow travel directly in front of her, directing his sword at her right shoulder, letting the momentum take him into a spin, and sweeps at her legs. Were she to be felled by his sweep, he stab down at her other shoulder, trying to incapacitate her arms.

Alice: As the Aspis is a very large shield, Alice relatively easily dodges down behind it as Alexander's blow connects with the rim of her shield, the momentum of his blow taking it slightly further and connecting lightly with her shoulder; piercing her coat and bringing a little blood to the surface. As he makes his second blow towards her legs, she remains behind the shield; crouching and thus bringing it down to protect her legs, then forcing it and herself outward and forward in an attempt to knock Alexander down the high temple steps. Meanwhile she keeps her own blade concealed behind the shield, prepared to deliver an attack should her attempt fail.

Alexander: While the shield did unbalance him, he didn't fall. Seeing a strategic opporotunity though, he slides down the stairs, trying to mimic a falling person, and removes the puka shells from his neck. His back to Alice, his necklace grow to the form of his fireknife. Hoping it stays concealed to Alice, he shadow travels as quick as possible, to a position behind Alice's shield, but close enough to avoid the caltrops. Using the hook on his fireknife, he tries to catch her leg and trip her again, followed by a horizontal swing at her head with the butt of his fireknife, hoping to knock her out with a blunt force to her cranium.

Alice: Alice doesn't find Alexander's falling imitation very convincing, as the way someone falls is typically characterized by an immediate loss of balance, but nor did she expect him to avoid her caltrop spread and so when his fireknife reaches for her leg she's caught almost completely unawares. Fortunately for her, his knife's hook catches on her boot knife; sending it spinning away and causing Alice to instinctively spin and bring her shield around in an attempt to knock Alexander away from her but inadvertently blocking his second attack. Now thinking properly again and not instinctively, she turns the shield up and tries to get its rim under the knife's hook, trying to tear it away from him and still keeping her weapon in reserve.

Alexander: Alice manages to get under his fireknife, but he releases one hand from it to reach behind him and pull his short sword from it's sheath. Instead of trying to wrench it from the shield he pushes it forward again, aimed to connect with shoulder to incapacitate her shield arm again. With his sword, he reaches over her shield, and jabs down at her concealed blade hand, once again hoping to take her arms out of comission. After jabbing, he tries to sparta kick her off the temple, trying to get a more open space to fight her in.

Alice: As Alexander removes his hand from the fireknife, Alice rotates the shield slightly, causing the knife to fall off and, partially as a byproduct of its concave cross-grip nature, preventing the short sword from arriving at her hand; the spin catching the reaching blade in the shield's teeth with the potential to jerk it from his hand. Seeing Alexander draw his torso back in the movement necessary for a kick, Alice makes a split second decision and prepares her weapon. As the kick moves towards the shield, she causes it to dissipate, allows his kick to pass through thin air, and then attempts to bring her sword down on top of his extended leg; using her now free hand to send coiling ropes towards Alexander's other arm.

Alexander: His shortsword is wrenched from his grasp, and her's connects with the top of his leg, only to be deflected by his greaves, the blow forcing his foot back onto the ground. Alexander notices her outcast arm, and starts spinning his fireknife to block the ropes from his arm. He realizes she must be rather tired, considering she's used much more of her powers than he his. With both legs back on the ground, and both hands on his fireknife, he brings it down in a short jerky motion, aiming at her blade hand. As his blade falls, he enchants his fireknife to harm her soul, hoping to crush her spirit.

Alice: Watching as her ropes are cut apart, Alice ceases creating them and focuses on the blade now heading for her hand. Reflexively moving her sword to block his, the angle of his strike and the strength behind it force her blade downwards; his sliding down its exterior length to rest at the cross-guard. As his blade makes contact with hers, she utilizes some of her diminishing powers to shoot more coiling ropes towards her opponent with her free hand, now attempting to bind his hands to the fireknife. While exhaustion now pushes at the edge of her consciousness, the night gives her new energy and the strength to fight on.

Alexander: His hands are bound tightly to his fireknife, and in the position they were in when bound, he cannot move his arms very well at all. To free himself, he simply wills the fireknife back into it's usual puka shell form, freeing himself without using his powers. Both hands now free, Alexander summons two small scythes, resembling kama, slash diagonally at Alice's chest with both, in an x-like maneuver. As he swings, he wills a group of ghosts (about five) to rush at Alice from behind Alexander, masking his form after he attacks.

Alice: Using the moment where Alex is briefly bound, Alice brings up her sword into a defensive stance, and although the transformation of his weapon was something of a surprise to her, the placement of her sword became ideal when his Kama snapped into existence. Bringing her weapon up diagonally, she again uses her blade and crossguard to block and stop the Kama as they head towards her; their blades sliding down hers as his fireknife did. Little to no more power at her disposal, and her sword arm weakening, Alice expects her opponent to make a final move, but when a few markedly transparent ghosts pass through both of them, she reacts by using a powerful technique solely available to threatened human females throughout space and time by sending her boot on an express trip to Alexander's crotch.
