Love at First Sight
These days, Love is a rare thing to come across. Some people are either to scared to love, for the possibility that they may be hurt, and some think of Love as a weakness that their enemies can exploit. Up until this day even Casper Leighton, a young 22 year old, thought of love in theses ways however, his view on love changed the day he met Lydia.
Since being born into a rich family Casper leighton always had everything he wanted. Girls, Money, Cars, but he knew that he only had these things for his money, even the girls. This saddened Casper for he was a hopeless romantic and hoped to one day find his soulmate. Of course none of the girls he met were even close for they were all gold diggers that only like him for his looks and money. Finally the day came when Lydia Marshall came to Casper’s home, New York. It was a cold winter morning and Casper’s mother was already busy starting one of her famous parties. As Casper lazily walked around the chaos, the call party planning, the sudden sound of doorbell caught his attention. Without much thought Casper made his way over to the door and swung it open to reveal a beautiful young women.
Once laying eyes on the girl Casper stood up straight and attempted to fix his mess of a hair. Moments passed as Casper stared at the girl in awe before he was brought back to reality by a cough that came from the young beauty. Casper quickly apologized for being distracted and went on to introducing himself then asking what the girl was doing here at his home. The girl, who introduced herself as Lydia Marshall, explained that she was the florist his mother had ordered. Casper gave an understanding nod as he showed Lydia inside and directed her to his mother. Once getting the young girl to his mother, Casper departed, for he had plan with his father but, not before he could ask the girl on a date. I guess you would say it was... Love at first sight.
A Short but Unforgettable Love
It had been a few weeks since Caspr and Lydia met and since that day the two grew closer and closer. Casper was as happy as can be and even though the two have only dated for a short time, he already knew he was in love with her. One fateful night, a few days later, Casper was able to show his love to the women by sexual intercourse. The night passed as the two fell asleep in eachothers arms and by morning Lydia had gone. Casper worried a bit, thinking maybe he wasn’t too good and Lydia had lost interest. As the day past, Lydia hadn’t contacted Casper which worried him even more. Should he go search for her? Maybe she was at work? With those thoughts Casper left to Lydia’s work, which was a small flower shop, only to find that the store was empty.
A devastated Casper returned home, know Lydia was gone. Why had she left? the reason was unknown. Months past and everyday Casper hoped that Lydia would come knocking on the door but, she never would... With his depression, the young male began to heavily drink and his life slowly spiraled out of control. His father died in a plane crash, he ruined his relationship with all of his siblings, and the true friends that he actually had were now gone, the only person who actually stayed by his side was his mother. Finally out of all the bad something good came.
The Spawn of True Love
It was a cool summer morning and Casper was just waking up for the new day. A small headache came as he awoke for he had once again gotten drunk the night before. Suddenly the cry of a baby could be heard and Casper felt nothing but confusion. He rose from his bed and began walking around his house, in search of the sound. As he entered the last room, that happened to be the living room, he saw a golden lace basket with white roses spread all over placed in the center of his long coffee table. He slowly walked up to the Basket and peered inside only to see a small beautiful baby girl. despite his confusion, Casper smiled and once looking just a bit further up, he noticed a note attached to the top of the basket. he reached for the note and read it to himself
“My dearest love, Casper
I'm sorry i had to leave you all those months back but if you look in front of you, you will know my reason why. This child is a result of our Love but i sadly cannot care for her. Persephone, Queen of the underworld is what most mortal know me by. Yes that's right i am a goddess and it is forbidden that a god/goddess every have any direct contact with the demigod offsprings. This child is special Casper. She is both mortal and god and because of this many monsters will come for her when she grows older. Please care for her as best as you can and protect her from anything that will hurt her.
Note: If you look in the basket you will see that i left a special gift for her to help her protect herself.”
as he read the last words a few tears dropped from his eyes. setting the note down he reached in the basket and pulled out a charm bracelet and after a few moments the jewelry began to transform. Because of his clear sightedness, Casper was able to watch as the bracelet morphed into a beautiful Bow and Arrow. Seconds later a quiver of Celestial bronze Arrows appeared on his back. Minutes after the transformation the weapon shrunk back into a bracelet on it’s own and the quiver disappeared. Casper looked over to his daughter for a few seconds, during theose seconds Casper grew angry and threw the bracelet off to another spot in the living room. How could Lydia do this to him? Was all that he could think and even with his new found daughter, Casper continued with his ways of drinking.
A Lonely Childhood:
Months past since the baby, who Casper named Diana, came into his life. Every single time he laid eyes on the child he would think of Lydia so Casper decided to leave the child with a maid most of the time while he went off and drank. As Diana grew older her father continued with his ways and she never really felt any type of love from her father. In later years she would often try to stay with her father but he would send her off with the maid. Diana hated that her father ignored her a soon started to act up. Hitting of kids, taking their toys, leaving some kids out if they weren’t worth of her presence but either way Casper never paid much attention to her.
After some time Diana simply gave up on trying to get her father’s attention but still stayed her mean and selfish ways for she was still angry. With her “i'm better than you” attitude, Diana went through the years with little friends but, she did become very close to the maid named Kenna. In reality Kenna was not only just a maid but she was also a music nymph from camp who had a big dream of becoming a famous musician, go figures. Now she was here working for the Leighton family, taking care of Diana, to earn money and help her be on her own. Of course Diana had no clue and Kenna didn't suspect the young girl was a demigod for her scent hadn’t yet set in.
When Diana began school she was automatically labeled a “Popular” and even with her ADHD and Dyslexia she was able to get ok grades.
An Even Lonelier Teenagehood
As the years went by Diana grew. By now she was 13 and still didn't have many friends besides the “Fake” ones she kept to keep her popularity status and Kenna. Most days after school Diana would spend her time with Kenna and because of this her demigod scent, which had finally set in, was unnoticable by Kenna. Maybe it was because Kenna spent so much time with the girl? or maybe it was because she didn't even want to think of the demigod world so she automatically ignored out the scent.
Now at the age of 13 i was only a matter of time before a monster came to attack Diana. Of course she had been taking bow and arrow class so she had training with a weapon but she had no weapon, at least not until her father gave her the bracelet that Persephone left for her. it wasn’t to much of a surprises to Diana when her father gave her a gift since he always gave her one on her birthdays to apologize for ignoring her. By now Diana didn't really care and accepted the gift and wore it, since it was pretty cute. Later on that day Diana was making her way home from school when she suddenly felt a pair of eyes watching her. She stopped in her tracks and looked around to see nothing but, there was a rustling in the bush that scared her into walking. As she continued walking the feeling never really went away but, she tried to ignore it that is until she heard the sound of a loud screech come from up above. Once looking up Diana’s laid eyes on a hideous creature the look like a bird/old lady hybrid. It wasn’t long before the beast swooped down toward the girl in an attempt to attack but, luckily Diana jumped out the way just in time.
Suddenly her wrist began to burn so she looked down to see the bracelet was now red as if it was heating up. With a hard pull she ripped the jewelry off and revealed its true form. She stared at the weapon in awe before she was brought back to reality by the harpy. With time Diana was finally able to slay the beast and after kept quiet about the event. She didn’t want everyone to think she was crazy now did she?
The Greek Gods Are Real?
As time went on Diana met with the monster almost once every year, sometimes twice, and each time she was alone so she was able to keep the whole thing a secret. In all honesty Diana was scared, she didn't want everyone to think she was crazy but at the same time the attacks were getting scarier and scarier. How much could she take?Kenna whose Musical career was now getting started was a bit too busy to hang out and had no idea about Diana’s situation and Casper never payed attention to his daughter, over the years he even forgot about the note he got from Persephone do to all the drinking.
By now Dian was 17 almost turning 18 and was yet again fighting off a monster. This time however it was at her house where Kenna was currently at. At first Kenna didn't know what was happening but, once walking outside and seeing a fire breathing horse and Diana with a bow and arrow she leaped into action. after some time the two were able to kill the beast and got to talking. Diana explained how she was being attacked by monster every year around her birthday and then Kenna put the pieces together. She went on to explain everything to Diana. About her mother, the gods, monsters, and even camp.
A confused Diana only payed attention to one thing which was Camp. Was there really a safe place for people like her? Kenna smiled as she told Diana to go pack and that she would take her to camp. Diana was both excited and nervous so she went to go pack and i no time they were on there way to camp in a truck filled with most of Diana’s things. No way was she leaving all her clothes and other important things behind
A Sad/Happy Ending
Hours later Kenna and Diana were at the base of Half-Blood hill and just started to climb up to the top. Suddenly the ground began to tremble and from the trees, a giant cyclopes emerged. The to girls began to run but it was no good. The beast was far too big to outrun. By the time the two girls took 10 steps the beast only took 3. With a swing of it’s giant club, the cyclopes was able to kill poor Kenna and Diana was next. The loss of a good friend left the daughter of Persephone devastated but she continued running. It was to no avail as the beast caught up with Diana. Out of sheer randomness the beast swung it arm instead of it club, although it was still very heavy it only tossed Diana into a tree causing her to go unconscious. Just when the monster was going to finish her off, it was defeated by a group of campers who would have gotten there sooner but had to climb the hill.
They brought a bleed Diana into camp along with her belongings and care for Diana for a few days before she finally woke up. Upon waking up a young man was standing next to her bed and began asking her questions... questions Diana didn't know the answers to. The only one she was able to answer was when the boy asked her name in which she said “Diana Leighton”. After a few hours of being alone in the infirmary the same young man walked into the room with a sad expression. He first explained to Diana that she was claimed by her mother and her belongings were now in her room at the persephone cabin and then proceeded to explain to her how she had amnesia.
Of course because of her amnesia she had forgot about everything including the Greek Gods so the boy had to explain that as well. After another few days Diana came to terms with her condition and also with the fact that the Greek gods were real. I mean she was in a camp the had proof of them all over the place. now being at camp for about a week Diana is trying to remember her past but it doesn't seem to be happening any time soon.
