Elysia is generally more collected and calm on her exterior. She ha a long line of patients so, making her angry or annoyed isn't something individuals can do easily. She's very nonchalant about most situations and when it comes to socialize, she can't be bothered to make any friends. This causes her to come off as a bit standoffish so to say but, Elysia couldn't be farther from that. That being said, while she doesn't really make an effort to gain connections, Elysia can be kind and friendly when she needs to be, even pushing herself to be more social as to avoid awkward situations - which she loathes.
When connecting with the daughter of Nyx on a deeper level, individuals will find that she is actually quite loyal. She follows a rather cemented moral code and doesn't choose to resort to more cynical and devious ways of going about things. She prefers to handle things head on, especially any emotional confrontations she might have with anothers. This makes Elysia a great friend in the long run as she'd often do anything for the people she loves, even going out of her comfort zone or sacrificing her own needs to ensure they're alright.
Edward Lovell was never anything spectacular growing up. Average was the word most people would use to describe him; never on anyone's radar for any reason. He didn't have a plan in life and was happy to let himself be led by whatever forces of the universe there were. Little did he know that these forces had an interest in him. Why? His average-ness. Many a God and Goddess looked down upon him and found him to be interesting. After procreating with the socialites of societies and having kids that were ensured to be great someday, many deities looked for someone normal to have a kid with. Edward was the unlucky subject of four gods; Pheme, Ares, Thalia and Athena. The resulting children - Emily, Buck, Osborne and Constance respectively - each made Edward's life a little more interesting.
With Pheme being his first taste of the Greek world, Edward found himself thrown into a world he knew little about. Although Pheme never disclosed who she was exactly, she dropped enough hints for Edward to figure out for himself - if he had the prowess to do so. In true Edward Lovell fashion, however, he did not possess such prowess. In the end, after spending days trying to figure out who she was, he gave up and labelled her as some famous indie actress that he had to research after their fling was over. That's what he considered their love; a fling. Nothing permanent whatsoever. Needless to say that when Pheme turned up to his door barely three weeks after he last saw her with a child that she proclaimed to be his, he was stunned. Having no heart to abandon the child, Edward took her in and named her Emily. Only when Emily was roughly three did Edward finally make sense of the hints Pheme had dropped. You see, Emily was a dead ringer for Edward and that, for him, expelled any doubts of her paternity and thus his attention turned to the woman. Pheme stuck out in his head and, upon research, he was led to none other than the goddess Pheme. Her mythical and powerful aura made sense for him, explaining there and then the three year question of how Emily got there so quickly.
Knowledge of Pheme and the Greek world through extension had made Edward a little more confident. Whilst he was still very much plain and average to everyone else around him, he had the self-gratifying fact that he bedded a Greek goddess and the one of fame at that. This added boost in confidence had attracted Ares to the man. Ares had been interested in Edward before (though plain-looking, Edward had robust features that Ares had some partial feelings to) but the newfound confidence sealed the deal on delivering a child. Unlike his obliviousness to Pheme, Edward was a lot more receptive to Ares' advances and identity and posed the same question over and over on how the god would give him a child. Of course Ares never relented and Edward had to sit and wait around after their series of hookups to see how such a child would be given to him. Sure enough, some month after he last saw Ares, the god arrived on his door for the final time with a baby boy. Again, stunned, Edward took the child in and named him Buck.
For the next few years Edward turned down a lot of Greek mythical figures. He had learnt from Ares that his life would be rough with two young demigods and, as a consequence, he was more than happy with just Emily and Buck in his life. Having a good paying office job allowed him to enrol them in a multitude of self-defence classes, even going as far as to give them swordsmanship lessons with a medieval fanatic. His reluctance to having more children with magical beings paid off; as Emily and Buck neared the early teens mark and were attacked, he felt safe knowing that they could handle themselves aptly. Sending the two off to boarding school during term time and then Camp Half-Blood during the summer at their own request, however, opened up the possibility for more gods and goddesses to see if they could chance their luck with Edward.
Thalia, the muse of comedy, was the next to conquer Edward. Though she radiated similar aura to both Pheme and Ares, Thalia wooed Edward with her array of comedic knowledge. It wasn't until after the two had hooked up enough times that Edward had realised he made the grave mistake of having a third demi-child. Was he mad? Not really. Did the thought of having a fourth to even things out cross his mind? Most definitely. He was in luck with the second thought as well; Athena had come along at the end of his relationship with Thalia and took an interest in him. She could sense a lot of buried, forgotten potential within him and was eager to bring it out. She held her identity in high regards with him, telling him exactly who she was and that, no, he wouldn't be able to have sex with her. With Athena's help, Edward was able to display skills that propelled him to the top of his career and, just like that, Athena vanished soon after. Not long after did Thalia return to his door, presenting his third demigod child. Naming him Osborne, Edward already began to preemptively look into the same courses that Emily and Buck had been enrolled in years prior. In the midst of hoping for a fourth and final mythical figure to take an interest in him, Edward was greeted by Athena at his home door after coming home from work. There she stood, miraculously, with a child in hand. She gave him no explanation and left him with the girl who she had taken the liberty of naming Constance.
Osborne and Constance definitely had the easier life growing up with their demigod abilities. Though they didn't come home often, Emily and Buck were always willing to teach them the tricks they knew alongside their younger siblings' paid classes. Subsequently, Osborne and Constance became increasingly proficient in a lot of demigod related things before attendance to Camp had really been considered by either of them.
All four children grew up to have incredible careers laid before them, each inspired by their parents. Emily found success as an actress, becoming a high-profile celebrity with a renowned ability to not crack under pressure and having a way with words. Buck became a high-ranking commander within the military, known for his answer for seemingly anything tactical based. Osborne, much like Emily, found success with fame - becoming a renowned comedian. Constance, whilst her siblings moved to accommodate their careers, became CEO of the major company her father had founded after accumulating enough financial success at his old company. Although each would bring their families (all ironically composed of demichildren) back to their father's home for Christmas and could revel in the similarities between them all, each Lovell child became known for being different to one another.
Constance Lovell was proud of being the heiress to her father’s company but she wanted recognition. Not just as the youngest daughter of Edward who stayed home. She craved attention and found herself more and more jealous of her older sister, Emily. To be known around the world for acting whilst giving little attention to Constance who was doing proper work was, quite frankly, astounding. Really, people cared more for a career based on being able to lie perfectly? Idiocy. Still, she kept her head down and kept up her work. In her own eyes, she was the most successful child of them all. She was certainly one of the richest.
Elysia was the second born daughter of Constance, though, she was only a couple months younger than her sister Sephora. Constance drew the attention of many and Nyx was no exception to that allure, coming down from the heavens and seeking out the mortal. Nyx, unlike most of the other deities, visited Constance on many occasions, she held a certain aura of mystery that drew the mortals attention. They spent time bonding under the blanket of the night and one day Nyx stopped showing up. Constance expected as much, knowing goddess’ couldn’t spend all their time with mortals and so it didn’t affect her in the slightest. Nyx provided somewhat of a break from Constance’s usual hectic life and that she was grateful for. 4 months after that, a little after Hecate left Sephora, Nyx also returned and left Elysia in Constance’s care.
After the birth of Elysia’s youngests sister Nina, the next six years were relatively normal. They grew up in the luxury that their mother could easily afford. Of course, being a single working mother meant that she had little time to spend with her kids but she did her best. They were, of course, the fruits of her labour. How successful they were would always reflect back on her. They were taken care of by a string of maids and tutors. All of whom touched base with her, gave them reviews on what they did. If any of them slacked, threw a tantrum, their mother knew. Though it wasn’t a perfect childhood The idea came to Constance during a dinner party. Everyone was invited, from Hollywood to New York. Including a producer. The producer saw the family interact. The next day, he pitched the idea of a reality TV show to Constance. And that was that.
The TV show put the spotlight onto Constance the way she had always wanted. The cameras were invited to her work and the world ate it up. The business skyrocketed and spread across the world. In their personal life, the three children became child stars. Everyone knew who they were. They commented on how they were brought up, invested in them. Constance relied on the idea of a happy and close family to draw in the viewers. However, things weren’t as they seem. But when are they ever?
The family were never that close. Not as thick as thieves. Before that, they were raised to compete against one another. Who could be the smartest? The best? Who could get their mother’s attention quickest? Oftentimes that competition revolved around Elysia and Sephora but, at the end of today Elysia wasn’t sure why she even cared. However, that all changed. Constance used different tactics to ensure they all behaved in front of the camera. Behaved in the sense that they did whatever the writers wanted. Suddenly, all three girls were playing together, having fake arguments, acting as if cameras weren’t being shoved in their faces.
Considering Constance was a daughter of Athena and had always been aware of her heritage, she knew her children were demigods. They even knew who their parents were from the beginning. They knew they might go to camp halfblood, through their mother never seemed too keen on the idea. Like she’d have any interest in sending them to a place where she can’t control them. Elysia’s had her first monster encounter at the age of seven, fairly young but, considering their household was filled with demigods it wasn’t surprising. She'd heard about her sister's attacks but always thought she'd be protected. However, a hellhound appeared when she was playing basketball by herself in her mum's private court. However, one of the security guards she hired finally appeared and disposed of the monster. Constance had made sure that all security were demigods to combat these events. After this, Constance ensured they were always accompanied by a security team to make sure all monsters were taken care of before they even got near her daughters’. Unfortunately, it meant they had little to no private time and the knoose their mother was wrapping around them grew even tighter.
None of them ever really pushed against Constance. Even when they were starved to ensure they looked their best for the cameras. All three have instances where their mother forced them to empty their stomachs after eating too much. Furthermore, because so much of their relationship was forced on screen, the three girls’ never had much of a relationship outside of the cameras. In fact, Nina often went out of her way to avoid her family whenever she had the opportunity. It wasn’t until Sephora and Ambrosia was thirteen did everything shift.
Sephora had put her foot down. It was bound to be one of them at this point, surely. Their mother had little care for their actual well being and nothing but the shallowness of appearances. It was just before they began to film a season that Sephora turned around and said: I don’t want to do this anymore. What ensued was...well, Constance was questionably not the daughter of Athena in that moment. But she, and her children, were known for their pride. The argument that erupted certainly did wound it. Elysia is scared by the memories of how big the bruise got on Sephora’s face that night, how red the surrounding skin was. How the cameras were banned from going near her. The next morning? Sephore was gone.
While the family suspected Sephora had run off to camp, Something Elysia contemplated heavily, though, not wanting to leave Nina to deal with their mother alone - Constance told a different story to the media. She told everyone she sent Sephora to a boarding school, to explain why she wasn’t around anymore. No one could know the true reason. The two remaining sister’s were sworn to silence and she tried her best to make sure life went back to normal. But after that? Nothing was. Elysia couldn’t see her mother the same again after, she’d become a monster and Elysia was sure to let her mother know that whenever she could when the camera’s weren’t around. The next four years passed quietly. Constance was a lot more sensitive to the possibility of the situation happening again and relaxed-just a little bit. They were allowed to go to school and the TV show went on a small hiatus for a year or so. When Nina was fifteen and Elysi was sixteen, Constance married a man who was, incidentally, the producer of the show. However, their marriage was more of a farce than a real thing. And he couldn’t become a proper step father to the two girl’s. Both teenagers quickly ignored his existence.
However, by the time they came back to film, Nina and Elysia were found to be bickering and bickering, not having their middle ground anymore. So whilst their relationship was going downhill over the next three years, they did have steady views focussed on their constant arguing. When Nina was sixteen and Elysia seventeen, the building tension over the past few years exploded into a vicious fight. Elysia couldn’t remember why they fought, perhaps because she had so much anger towards her mother that Elysia projected it onto her younger sister as well.
After that, Nina went to Elysia and admitted her plans to set out to look for Sephora. Despite their heavy bickering, The daughter of Nyx did hold some love for her younger sister, even if they were mostly strangers. Elysia had just turned 18, gaining full access to her money and decided to go along with Nina, hoping they could grow closer away from their mother and the reality tv show she hated. With that Elysia bought them tickets to camp halfblood.
Offensive[]
- Children of Nyx have the ability to conjure weapon out of pure shadows which can be used for combat; however, only one weapon can be conjured at a time and it cannot be bigger than the one who conjured it. This can also be used for other non-combative objects, but within reason, something might be shaped like an iPod, but as shadows do not have any working parts and source of electricity, such as batteries, they would not actually play music.
- Children of Nyx can create solid bullets out of shadows and fire them from their fingertips. The bullets fly fast enough to possibly tear into an opponent’s skin.
Defensive[]
- Children of Nyx have the ability to conjure a dome of solid shadows around them which will defend against attacks for a short time.
- Children of Nyx have the ability to conjure a cloak of darkness which will blunt physical attacks, but slows the movement of the conjurer.
Passive[]
- Children of Nyx are innately stronger and are slightly less drained by their powers during the night.
- Children of Nyx can see perfectly in the night as if it were day and darkness in general.
- Children of Nyx can communicate with and command nocturnal animals.
- Children of Nyx, during the night, sense any motions in their vicinity (up to roughly a city block away). Large, rapid movements are easy to distinguish, while smaller, slower movements blend together like background noise, requiring focus to single out.
Supplementary[]
- Children of Nyx have the ability to Shadow Travel,to teleport from shadow to shadow; the further the distance, the more is energy drained.
- Children of Nyx can bend shadows around them, concealing them for a short time.
- Children of Nyx are able to create complete darkness in a small area for a short time, extinguishing all light sources. They can also perform this power to a lighter extent, by putting out a single light bulb or candle with a thought.
- Children of Nyx can telekinetically move and transform their shadow constructs. The more constructs moved and the bigger they are, the more energy is drained.
- Children of Nyx have the ability to create intangible stars, which will light an area for a short time.
3 Months After Character is Made[]
- Children of Nyx can cause true night in an area for a short time, blocking sunlight over a battlefield. Their passive boosts and the abilities of other demigods are affected accordingly. This effect lasts for at most a minute before fading back, and can only be used once a day. They can also create a pair of shadow wings to fly with (which drains less energy than shadow travel).
6 Months After Character is Made[]
- Children of Nyx are able to create up to seven nocturnal animals, no larger than their normal sizes, to serve them for a short time. While the animals are summoned the user is slower, and they are drained whenever one of the animals is harmed or when the animals are released.
9 Months After Character is Made[]
- Children of Nyx have the ability to shed their flesh and turn into a state of pure night. While in this state, the user is granted flight and their existing abilities become stronger. They are intangible in this state and anyone they touch has their vision stripped away for the rest of the transformation; however, once the user changes back they will be extremely drained and immobile for a long time. They would possibly pass out.
Traits[]
- Children of Nyx tend to prefer the dark.
- Children of Nyx are often nocturnal; preferring to operate at night and sleep during the day.
- Children of Nyx tend to have a darker outlook on life and events of the world.
- Children of Nyx often pursue jobs that take place at night or in darkness such as being a security guard, nightclub bouncing, and mining.
- Children of Nyx are typically favored and get along with nocturnal animals, such as bats, raccoons, ocelots, etc.
