Deryn is a guradian of sparrows who is immortal, but looks 16-17ish. She resides in Camp Half-Blood after being in Eastern Asia looking after sparrows. Her sexuality is Pansexual and she is currently single.

Awkward and clumsy, Deryn can be the cause of most accidents. She has a tough time finding the right words to say to someone she just met, and can't seem to stop blurting out things that might sound just rude. Aside from that socially awkward fact, she is a goofball and is childish, loving the simple things a child would like. To friends and loved ones, she can be very stubborn and sensitive, but also sweet. Deryn has a talent of singing and likes to hum traditional songs when bored, alone, or in distress.
Deryn's pastimes include eating and cooking food. She loves food and you might always find her eating something. She has a sweet tooth and loves sweets, not spicy food. Deryn is also the master of dancing. She has a serious side that comes when the most serious of things have occurred, and she will be the first to comfort a friend down in the dumps. |

|
For years, the gods and goddesses have watched on while the humans developed through the years, as they advanced both personally and technologically. Lately one thing has become quite clear to them; humans have a habit of being very irresponsible when it comes to their environment and the animals that reside within that environment. They came to a decision, fearing for the safety and longevity of their sacred animals, they have decided to create a special group of nymphs to help protect their sacred animals.
These nymphs’ life forces are each attached to the animal they are a nymph of; if that animal becomes extinct, the nymph will die. The gods considered the fact that here are thousands of animals and creatures that roam the earth, but not wanting to over extend their powers, they have decided to only concern themselves with the animals that are sacred to them.
Deryn was created by Aphrodite to help her take care of sparrows. Deryn served her creator eagerly and earnestly. She was located in Eastern Asia, and she grew onto the culture. When she was relaxing, she learned to dance and sing a little and developed a talent of dancing, a talent she practiced hard to receive and she got the hang of it. Though, since her creator is Aphrodite, her dancing is of the sultry genre. She was sent to Camp Half-Blood for her reward and continues to help the birds.

- As they are nymphs they do not age, remaining eternally young.
Their senses of smell, sight and hearing are more enhanced, enabling them to sniff out monsters, track down demigods, etc.
- They are able to summon animals to aid them, they have the best control over their own animal type
- Each type of animal nymph has their life force attached to that species, so if a species were to go extinct the nymph would die
- Each nymph is able to change into the type of animal they are, and only that type. So the bear nymph could not turn into a mouse, but it could turn into a grizzly, black bear, polar bear, etc.
- While In animal form they have all the normal abilities of the animal. So if they are a hawk they can fly.
- While in regular nymph/person form, they only retain passive characteristics/traits from the animal. So if they are a hawk, perhaps they are claustrophobic in enclosed spaces, but they cannot fly
