Powers

Offensive[]

  1. Children of Poseidon can fire a powerful blast of water from their hands, equivalent to that of a fire hose, which evaporates after a short time.
  2. Children of Poseidon have the ability to conjure and freeze small amounts of water into durable ice weapons, which can be used for combat; however, only one weapon can be conjured at a time and it cannot be bigger than the one who conjured it. They can also make small non-combative objects out of ice.

Defensive[]

  1. Children of Poseidon can create an area around themselves that inflicts others with intense seasickness, making them dizzy and nauseous for as long as they remain inside. The user must keep their focus on maintaining the effect for the duration.
  2. Children of Poseidon can turn their body to water for a very short time, letting an attack pass harmlessly through them. This can cause extreme dehydration with repeated use.

Passive[]

  1. Children of Poseidon can breathe, are swifter and more powerful, and can heal slightly faster while underwater.
  2. Children of Poseidon can keep themselves and everything they touch dry in the water, unless they choose to become wet.
  3. Children of Poseidon can survive falling from any altitude as long as they land in water, and can go as deep into the ocean as they desire without any effects from the cold or water pressure.
  4. Children of Poseidon can communicate with and command equestrian animals, as well as all creatures that dwell in the sea.
  5. Children of Poseidon are innately less inhibited by severe wind and precipitation.

Supplementary[]

  1. Children of Poseidon have the ability to create minor earthquakes, large enough to knock anyone nearby off their feet, for a few seconds.
  2. Children of Poseidon are able to telekinetically move water at a high rate. The larger amount of water used, the more energy it drains. This can be used on ice, but is much more difficult and draining.
  3. Children of Poseidon are are able summon a specific horse, pegasus, or sea creature directly to their position, regardless of distance. This only works on creatures that they have a strong personal bond with.
  4. Children of Poseidon can calm, strengthen or influence the direction of the winds, though to a much lesser extent than children of Zeus or the anemoi.

3 Months After Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Poseidon have the ability to create a torrential rainstorm overhead, which will downpour and cause high winds over a large area. The storm will gradually clear over time, and afterward the user would be substantially drained.

6 Months After Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Poseidon are able to shape a semi-living construct out of water, no larger than 3 to 4 times the size of the user, that fights for them for a short time. The user is weakened while the construct is active, and the longer they maintain the it, the more energy it drains.

9 Months After Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Poseidon are able to transform their bodies into a state of pure water for a short time, becoming immune to most attacks. The hydrokinetic abilities they already possess are enhanced by this state, and they are capable of covering great distances in an instant while underwater. The user will be extremely drained once the transformation ends, and could possibly faint.

Traits[]

  1. Children of Poseidon always know their exact coordinates when in water and are able to innately feel the difference between freshwater and saltwater.
  2. Children of Poseidon normally have a love for water, and generally excel at water sports.
  3. Children of Poseidon tend to be favored by animals of the sea.
  4. Children of Poseidon often have a natural affinity for horses and many grow up to become equestrians.
History
TRIGGER WARNING: This character’s backstory deals with topics of sexual assault. Reader discretion advised.

Frieda Keller was a waitress in the small city of Freiburg, West Germany, located right at the border of the world-renown Black Forest. She had just graduated high school and seemed to have no chance to amount to anything. Helga, her mother, was an unemployed woman that still drank herself to sleep even two years after being abandoned by her husband and Frieda’s father.

Frieda had gotten a job as a waitress at a local traditional diner, and she was the only source of income for the family, including her little brother. Her beauty was unrivalled, and many customers hit on her, but she never really paid them any attention. They were too old for her anyways. Still, her mother insisted on her getting married as the young maiden she was and to capitalise on her beauty to score a rich husband that could provide for the family. However, Frieda would always refuse to do such thing, being as naïve as only a virgin could be at 18 at the very beginning of the 70’s.

One day, a scouting agent that worked for a modelling company came across her, and taken aback by her beauty and innocent image, offered her a modelling job that put her current wage as a waitress to shame. Naturally, she agreed, without ever thinking about the implications of her new job. She started off quite well, learning how to model quickly more out of need than actual passion or innate talent for the art. She had to travel from one place to another; usually staying in large fashion cities like Paris or Milan for longer.

Being away from home, however, left her negligent mother unchecked, which lead to Helga slowly start taking worse life decisions: spending Frieda’s hard-earned money on booze or soft drugs. Her little brother Klaus, who was 6 at the time, resented Frieda greatly for this, given that he couldn’t really understand the whole situation as a child. Frieda advanced on her career but it came to a halt when the realisation of how the modelling industry really worked hit her, and she noticed that in order to really amount to something she’d either have to be the absolute best (which she wasn’t) or to perform sexual acts with the high executives. Given that Helga constantly lied to her about money being insufficient, and emotionally manipulating her to produce more, Frieda eventually gave in and did anything she could to continue progressing. Fortunately, she never had to engage in actual intercourse.

Sadly, though, that also came to an end when she was taken to New York to model for Press Week (what is now known as New York Fashion Week). Poseidon, who had lowered from Olympus out of sheer curiosity for the mortal event, had found the mortal stunning, and he knew he had to have her. At one of the cocktail events post-runway, the ocean god insinuated himself to the then-20-year old, and the girl, both aggravated and insulted by the recent attitudes and conditions she’d recently received from men, was quick to turn him down. This didn’t sit well with the god one bit.

Hurt and offended, the god quickly devised a plan. On the last cocktail party, which was planned to be the longest and grandest of the whole week, he made a point to keep the woman rather dehydrated for the duration of the event, knowing that in the absence of alcohol-free options, she’d eventually get to a point where she would be much more malleable to do his bidding.

His plan was a success. Frieda lost control after one too many cocktails and the god took advantage of the situation to take the nearly-unconscious girl to a secluded space and having his way with her; effectively impregnating her and ruining her life just to prove a point.

She couldn’t remember almost anything from the night before and that night was the first of many drunken nights that were to come, developing an alcohol dependence much easier due to her genetical proneness to it. At least she managed to keep doing her job normally for a while, all of this while naturally unaware of her ongoing pregnancy. It wasn’t until about three months later that she noticed she started gaining weight and retaining liquids. Her measurements kept getting slightly larger by the week and she seemed to find no apparent reason for it. Despite her denying had intercourse with anyone, she was forced to go to an obstetrician-gynaecologist, and in that visit, the news of the incoming infant was delivered to her. Unfortunately, West-Germany’s recently passed law of legal abortion in that same year only covered up to the 12 weeks of pregnancy, and Frieda was just past that time-limit.

Naturally, the girl was forced to keep the baby; the very symbol of disrespect towards her body and the cause of her losing the job which she’d grown to love for the past couple of years.

Upon coming back home, things got messy. Helga was enraged at her daughter, not believing her story about being assaulted, and calling her a floozy for her pregnancy. Obviously, no respectable man would now take her for a wife, and she didn’t have her modelling job to provide anymore, so she had to take her old waitressing job again. Both blamed the family’s lack of fortune on the baby, as that was easier than blaming it on the absent man that had done this to Frieda in the first place.

Klaus, on the other hand, was ecstatic to be an uncle, specially since that meant that he got to have his older sister back with them at home, and she would always about Helga from being violent with him. He seemed to be the only one that was looking forward for the baby.

Half a year after returning home, she gave birth to Felix, and despite having planned on giving him for adoption, she couldn’t bring herself to let go of the creature once he had been in her arms. Frieda grew to grudgingly start becoming fond of Felix as the first few months passed, though it seemed that she held him accountable for every misfortune that happened to the family after that moment. She planned staying home for the first year as she recovered and then trying to regain her modelling job.

On one occasion, she had to work until late once for the diner’s 15th anniversary, leaving Felix to the care of both Helga and Klaus, as usual, but Klaus was still only a child and by nighttime, he was already fast asleep, just like Felix. Helga, however, was wide awake. And she’d just received a letter from her husband, telling her about how he demanded a divorce because he’d fallen in love with a woman whom he wished to marry, but couldn’t to him still being legally married to Helga. The nerve, she thought, of him to only send a letter after four years of leaving without any goodbye, or money to sustain the family.

The middle-aged woman, both outraged and hurt, drank herself to sleep for the umpteenth time in the past four years. Except this time, she never woke back up again. By the time Frieda got home, the damage done was unsalvageable. And of course, that wouldn’t have happened had she been home. Had she not had a child in the first place; so naturally it was Felix’s fault.

Given that he didn’t have anyone competent enough to take care of him, she would never be able to get her modelling job back, so that was on him, too. Having to pay for nannies, education, food and a place to live and taking care two kids was way too much for a 21-year old, so she soon follower Helga’s footsteps and starting comforting herself with booze.

Felix grew up without much love. Frieda took care of him as best as she could but her affection for him as inconsistent at best, and she still visibly resented him for the drastic turn her life plan had taken. Klaus was for him a brotherly figure, and the only one that actually kept him from feeling completely alone. Frieda eventually got a better job that at least eased the economical tensions of the broken family to an extent, but it was much more demanding. At least Klaus was old enough by then to take care of himself and Felix.

School was the only place were Felix felt anywhere close to normal, and despite his loneliness he found out that he had a relative ease at making friends. There, she met Klara, a girl who became his best friend and whom he secretly started to crush on. Once, when he was 13, their class had a camping trip to the Black Forest. He’d been too focused on trying to charm Klara, during said trip, and during one of the designated free times, when he was alone with her, two dracaenae found the pair and attacked them.

The scent had been too strong, given that Klara was a child of Aphrodite, but at least she knew about her heritage and hence had a proper weapon to fight with, unlike Felix who only had a small knife in his pack and his Walkman. He tried attacking the monster with his own puny blade, but the monster was obviously impervious to the mortal material. The boy, scared out of his mind, escaped the monster encounter by running as fast as he could, as far as he could, and for as long as he could, but he’d been too distracted with Klara to take note of the course they’d walked through, and he couldn’t find his way back to his class. Not that day and not the next.

So it was that Felix was officially announced as lost. The school informed Frieda about the situation, and she was furious about the whole thing, but she didn’t have enough money to sue, and despite the town’s attempts of trying to find the boy, the forest was too big and too dense for anyone to find him, despite their and Felix’s screams. Fortunately for him, Klaus had taught him some survival skills here and there throughout his childhood, so he had to make do with those. He walked and walked, trying to find the nearest town without much avail.

About two weeks after getting lost he came across the clearing where he and Klara had been first attacked by the dracaenae, and he knew this because found the bronze sword he’d last seen her wielding on the forest floor, covered by some branches. He picked it up and found out that it shapeshifted into a lip balm stick. Not ideal, but it’d have to do. He felt initially guilty when he thought what that meant. Klara had probably left her weapon there only if she had died. But then again, had he not escaped, he probably would have ended up dead as well.

He only survived by living off the land, finding small caves to shield him from the cold and eating whichever berries he found recognisable and by putting small, simple traps and capturing small hares and cooking them as best as he could with his meagre fire-making skills. It didn’t make for a healthy lifestyle, but it was what he could manage to keep himself alive. Fortunately there were several streams to drink water from, and somehow, the water always seems to strengthen him even more so than whatever food he ate. He wandered from one section of the huge forest to another, even climbing small hills for better vantage points, but apparently he was too deep in the forest, because there wasn’t much he could see in the nearby distance. No cities, no towns, not even settlements. Just plain, black, forest for miles. Despite being scared at first, he grew accustomed to this way of living, and he didn’t do much else about trying to get out of the forest, believing that his family was surely looking for him and one day, they would find him and bring him back home. But both Frieda and Klaus had given him up for dead.

He spent months this way, living day to day and even adopting animalic characteristics as time went by. He had no one to talk to and had nothing to read or write, so naturally he started dissociating from his previous self. He had the idea of following the random streams across the forest in the hopes that one of them would lead him to civilisation. Most lead to dead ends, or simply small pools of collected water. He would bathe in these pools because they’d also make him feel reinvigorated and because bathing was one of the few tethers that he still had to his human self.

However, after about a year since that fateful monster attack, a stream lead him to a river, and that river to a small settlement of wooden houses on its banks. He knocked on one of them, choosing purposefully one that seemed to house a family with children, trying to appeal to the adults’ parental sense.

The couple was appalled by the boy’s disheveled appearance but had enough heart to hear out his story in his now-choppy German from lack of practice, despite it being his native language. They did, in fact, have a son only a year older than Felix, and this greatly influenced the parents into helping the poor boy. They offered to help him by taking him to the nearest town and paying for a phone call so that he could contact Frieda. However, it was too late that day to do that, so they also offered him a bath to properly shower, dinner, and shelter for the upcoming night. The house was small though so they only had space on the floor of their son’s bedroom.

The boy, whose name was Michael Kaiser, uncharacteristically insisted on having Felix sleep on his bed, claiming that him sleeping on the floor for one night wouldn’t be such a big thing. This exchange, however, ended up with both boys chit chatting quietly for long into the night, immediately befriending one another. Michael was amazed by Felix’s story, and this also helped the son of Poseidon start on getting the hang of his language skills again. The next morning, the couple took Felix to the nearest landline. Unfortunately, after a whole year of being away from home, he couldn’t remember his home’s phone number, so they had to call the police station in Freiburg and have them look at the records to find Frieda Keller’s home phone number.

Apparently, the woman had committed suicide in the past year from undiagnosed depression. While this signified a challenge in seeing where Felix could live now that he was back in civilisation, the police found the records of Klaus’s new address and phone number. Felix contacted him and the young man was ecstatic to hear that his nephew was alive. He gave Klaus the direction of a gas station in the town, and the man came running to pick the boy up.

The Kaisers where nice enough to wait for Klaus to arrive to make sure that Felix reunited safely with his uncle. In the meantime, Felix and Michael preceded to talking and bonding, making the long hours fly by quickly than either could have ever imagined, and Michael gave Felix a sheet of paper with all the needed information to contact him again. Eventually, Klaus arrived reuniting with Felix in an emotional embrace, and the latter to thanking the family from the bottom of his heart for their kindness and generosity, promising to keep in touch with them as best as he could.

The first few days with Klaus were both scary and great. Klaus had a double bed so the two managed to sleep together without much trouble, but Felix had become much quieter, reserved and independent during his year in the black forest. Klaus never brought up Frieda, and and Felix never complained. Whether they believed she was better left in the past or her memory hurt too much to resurface, neither really knew. Klaus noticed that despite being about 14, his nephew didn’t need taking care of, but their relationship was also dented by the topics they knew they shouldn’t speak of and worn off by time, so they practically became roommates. They slowly built up their relationship back up, despite their differences, and after a few months of Felix studying and helping at home and Klaus working, they were back to being great friends as they once were.

As soon as Felix had come home, though, he’d written a thank you letter for Michael and his family, and he’d sent it to his home address. This act started a long chain of correspondence between the two boys, where one would write a poem for the other, and the other would mail a cassette with a homemade playlist dedicated for the first. Both teenagers slowly started falling in love, though they’d only seen each other once again save for the polaroids that they’d occasionally send until Michael announced that he would be assisting to the University of Freiburg.

Felix, by this moment was already 17 and had already had his fair share of monster attacks. However, while in the wilderness, he’d learned how to defend himself and despite lacking proper fighting techniques, he always managed to survive the attacks, whether it was a fire-breathing horse, or a hellhound, or even a couple of stymphalian birds. He knew that he was somehow special for being attacked by such creatures but he never mentioned it out loud, knowing that he’d surely sound crazy and would probably be sent to a mental institution. The other issue was that he didn’t know what made him different and he had no real way of finding out. Due to this, he always carried Klara’s celestial bronze sword wherever he went, despite never knowing why only he could use that weapon to hurt the monsters.

Once Michael moved in to Freiburg to start his studies, the boys would meet up regularly, initially going to a café in Münsterplatz where they’d talk and flirt discreetly but eventually, ended up arranging secret meetings in way more secluded places where they’d end up making out, or if the occasion permitted it, even hooking up. The café, however, became their staple, and their place.

These were probably the best months of Felix’s life, and around it was around that time that the Berlin Wall fell, signaling a turning point in human history. Politically speaking, it was great news. There was chatter about a German reunification. Obviously the Soviets wanted Eastern Germany to be the one to prosper, but everyone else knew that the thriving nation would be Western Germany. The country officially reunited a bit less than a year after that.

By then, both youths were studying at the university so their relationship was at its peak. It was difficult, however, because Felix was too scared to come forward to his uncle about fancying another man such way, and Michael’s family was very conservative and really loved Felix, so Michael was afraid of changing their perspective of him. Regardless, on Felix’s second year at university, both saved money from their part-time jobs and decided to do a “friends’ trip” to Rome for a long weekend to finally have time for themselves and fully enjoy each other’s company.

By that point, Felix had noticed that things weren’t the same as they used to, but he hoped that said weekend escapade would help mend whatever was going off-track in their relationship, because he was fully consumed and invested in loving Michael. He was his everything. At first, the weekend trip seemed be working its magic. Both were being affectionate to one another again, and their nightly routines seemed to be as full of love and passion as the first ones, but on the last night, they’d decided to hit a club together. Felix, upon returning from the bathroom, found Michael making out with a young woman about their age. The older boy tried stopping him from storming out of the club, but Felix wouldn’t have it, until Michael grabbed him from the shoulder right outside the place. They had a confrontation, and both hurt each other’s feelings, but Michael took it too far and broke up with Felix. He, devastated, grabbed his belongings and went to the airport alone, changing his plane ticket for the next plane.

He knew Michael would soon com to look for him, but his heart was shattered and his pride damaged, an he overall felt outraged. He had to hide where no one would find him again. At the end of the day, his life had no meaning if he couldn’t be with Michael, so he took his essential belongings on a pack and took a tour to the Black Forest the next day and this time, he purposely got lost, in the hopes that by being back at his second home, he’s lose his humanity for a second time and forget all of his feelings for Michael. But it wasn’t as easy to lose contact with his human self this time around.

He knew Klaus would probably be looking for him as well, but he hoped he would know that he was doing well. When a week wasn’t enough to make his mind forget the pain, he decided to add an extra one, and when that too didn’t prove to be a band-aid enough to cover his heartbreak, he extended his duration on the gloom forest.

His hunger and physical needs weren’t the same as it was when he was a young teenager though, and his body started resenting the meagre supplies he managed to put his hands on, and this time, drinking water from the streams just wasn’t enough.

And so it was that, weakened by his slight malnourishment, two empousai found him by his strong, and mature demigod scent (and amplified by the fact that he was a son of the Big Three), and they engaged in a vicious combat. The monsters were more powerful than any he’d encountered before, and even his great abilities wouldn’t have been enough to get rid of them, had the huntresses of Artemis not arrived just in time to save the demigod from imminent death.

As it turned out, Artemis had been scouting the forest in the search of Chimera, who’d been wandering the woods for the past few days in attempts of killing it, but they’d found several monsters on their way, probably hinting at something else. They had noticed Felix’s abilities and obviously knew he was a demigod. A few of her huntresses and wolves had been recently killed from the attacks, so Artemis demanded him for him to join the Hunt as a wolf in return from having saved him from what would have been his imminent demise. She also went on to explaining that the Greek myths, were in fact real and that he was a son of the King of the Sea.

Heartbroken, without any further motivation to keep on going with his life and also relatively skeptical about the whole situation, he agreed to join the Hunt, thinking that the alleged goddess must have been bluffing and he could leave whenever he wanted to. It wasn’t until he was actually turned into a wolf with immortality and that he garnered experiences with the huntresses that he really realised that everything was, in fact, real. He’d given up his life to help a cause for which he didn’t really believe in, but at least he had a purpose.

He lived that way for years and years, until around the end of the second decade of the 2000’s, when Artemis seemed to sympathise with her current wolf pack and decided to grant them freedom, turning them back into human beings but also losing their immortality in the process. Their Alpha proposed for them to go to Camp Half-Blood to train and regain their human actual demigod abilities and they all agreed.

Felix, however, decided join them later, saying that he had to do deal with a few things beforehand. He visited Freiburg once again, met up with Klaus once again and explained him everything, all the way from his godly heritage, and Klaus, now in his fifties and finding no other logical explanation to seeing his nephew almost thirty years later without seeming to have aged a day, had no choice to believe it. He told him his plans of joining Camp Half-Blood all the way in New York as soon as he was done finishing his tasks in Freiburg.

When it was time and he had finished the last thing he had to do, Felix realised that he didn’t know what he had been expecting when he did it. Despite being an idiotic fantasy, he supposed he still had the slight hopes of finding Michael and somehow making things work again. Maybe then he wouldn’t leave Freiburg again. He could give everything up, his pack, his powers, if only he could find the love of his life once again.

Finding Michael was an easy feat. He only had to go that café in Münsterplatz where they used to have their first dates, drinking coffee or hot chocolate, depending on the season, and took a seat, surprised that the small establishment had survived through the years, and waited.

Eventually, he recognised a much older version of Michael entering the café, who seemed to be finishing his forties, but his heart still skipped a beat. The feeling quickly died down, however, when he noticed Michael’s hand holding someone else’s, and the golden rings adorning adorning both of their fingers. Michael’s eyes met his, but if recognition ever struck him, he didn’t let on save for a ghost of a wistful smile.

So there they were, two lovers of times past, made strangers by the blade of passing of time; memories fading away into oblivion from both regret and what could have been, but never was.
Personality
While not obsessively cloying or saccharine, Felix is genuinely sweet and protective to those who he's close to, although he definitely puts up an initial tough façade to those who he feels threatened by. He's generally laid-back and exudes a laissez-faire attitude, rarely worrying about trivial matters. This, and his natural charm make most people like him. Usually one to be an advocate for peace and to avoid conflicts, the son of Poseidon has a high tolerance and patience threshold, but he's also got his limits, and whenever they're surpassed, Felix explodes and loses most of his rationality, lashing out at whoever may be near him and not thinking his actions through while in this state.

Despite his rather threatening appearance, he is a young man that is generally harmless without any proper reason to behave otherwise. He, however, is someone that takes things to heart and in turn is prone to holding grudges and, if pushed, becoming vengeful. Other than that, he's usually a solidary young man with a sense of responsibility that is most comfortable when in groups or at least with another person, having a slight distaste to being alone when not necessary. He has a hard time being in tune with his emotions sometimes, so he likes feeling integrated after being left alone for so long during his time in the Black Forest. Counterintuitively enough, for everything else that's unrelated to his emotions, he's a prime example of an independent young man.

Felix enjoys being underestimated, preferring to be held up to mediocre standards and surprising others constantly as opposed to being held up to high standards and disappointing others, as that is one of his biggest fears. Despite this, he absolutely loathes it when others don't take him seriously due to his kind nature. This perhaps means that he sometimes cares more about others' opinions more than he should, but that isn't always the case. Yes, he is terribly indecisive, but whenever he personally comes up with a resolution, it's pretty much impossible to move him from it, even if he's got the popular opinion against him.
