Sung Dae-Ho, son of Iris, and Cara Lee, daughter of Apate, were both demigods who had just left camp after years of training to start a new life in the mortal world, together. They were madly in love and decided that they were ready to live on their own in the real world despite the monsters. They both got jobs working for small shops in New York; Cara worked as a music store clerk, Dae-Ho, a waiter. The two demigods were living in a cheap place in the run down area of the city, but they were soon able to afford an apartment closer to the center of the city, fit for the two of them.
It was some time after getting the new apartment in which Cara received the news that she was with child. Cara and Dae-Ho rejoiced, but soon reality hit them; they needed to work a lot harder to afford the baby. They began to second guess their decision to have a child with their financial status and with the monsters that paid them a yearly visit.
As if it were a miracle, Dae-Ho's wealthy great aunt had passed away in the middle of Cara's pregnancy. The great news about that was Dae-Ho had been mentioned in the will and received a share of the money, as the old women wanted to give all her relatives she knew a fair portion of her great wealth. The couple moved to a bigger place, which was located near many other families and a great school for their child to go to. Finally, on December 15, the baby girl, Jung Ji-Eun was born.
Ji-Eun grew up a happy child. Her wits and decision-making skills were strong, which made it harder for her to fall and dishearten. She played a lot with the neighborhood kids and would constantly trick them for her own little game. Half the children she played with enjoyed her fun, the other half detested her. They didn't like how she would tease them and then act all cute about it. The monsters came every year like her parents knew they would come, her parents would fight them off as they have been trained to do, but they realized that they weren't coming for her, instead themselves. She didn't have the demigod smell on her that attracted monsters apparently. But as her parents were still skeptical of the monsters, her mother gave her a celestial bronze whip which she had received from camp and told her the basics on how to defend herself.
At school, Ji-Eun was the energy pill. If you look at her you just want to smile and become friends with her, well, become friends with her if she liked you. If she didn't, you had a whole year of childish pranks coming your way. She was an B average student, but everyone knew she could be an A+ student. She, herself, wanted to keep her cute ditziness, public and her intelligence, secret. When she got to high school, her popularity grew with the other classmates and she was invited to junior parties when only a freshman. She became known as 'that girl you need to have at a party'. Ji-Eun knew how to have fun and would be the wildest person to party with, easy with trying new things. The only thing she never tried was losing her virtue and she kept that sacred with her.
One party, however, would change everything. She was at a late night pool party celebrating a classmate's eighteenth birthday, she was 18 at the time as well. Everyone at the party was intoxicated and probably high, the only people who weren't, however, were Ji-Eun and another student. Ji-Eun was at the pool in her bikini, laughing at the drunk people, while the other non-drinker was, well, busy in the bedroom. Soon, Ji-Eun was caught up into a game of chicken fight on top of some drunk guy against another drunk guy and drunk girl. They both gave playful shoves to one another, Ji-Eun having the advantage over the drinkers. Suddenly the boy under Ji-Eun staggered and his knees buckled, causing Ji-Eun to fall back. As they were close to the edge, she fell back and hit the back of her head on the edge of the pool. The back of her head split open causing the water around her to take on a red tint. The other non-drinker found her afterwards, but it was too late.
When Dae-Ho and Cara heard the news of their dead daughter, their hearts tore to pieces. Cara fell into a depression and would constantly hug pictures of Ji-Eun while crying softly. Dae-Ho was equally as depressed, but he decided to do something about. The couple were loyal followers of the gods and would do weekly prayers to them, gaining the likes of some of the gods, especially their godparents. Dae-Ho prayed harder than ever to his mother, Iris. He would sacrifice his food to her and would do everything in his power to have Iris look over him and fulfill his wishes. He succeeded. Iris saw the couple's depression and felt rare pity for the two. The goddess revived Ji-Eun into a rainbow nymph. The only deal was that Ji-Eun would help Iris with business involving rainbows.
She was sent back to her parent's place. Her father was home and when his eyes laid on her, he exclaimed and hugged her, crying tears of absolute joy. He thanked his mother and kissed his daughter's forehead. Cara, for the first time in her depression, had left the apartment and went to the store to pick up groceries. Dae-Ho called her and told her the news so she hurried back home. While she was hurrying, she got herself into a severe car accident and immediately died on scene. Unlike Ji-Eun, she was gone forever now.
Dae-Ho and Ji-Eun were truly upset, but Ji-Eun soon shook it off when she was called back to Iris. In the time she was gone, Dae-Ho didn't have anyone really to turn to and felt alone. He started to drink and wouldn't stop, drinking himself to death.
Ji-Eun remained clueless of her father's death and was surprised when Iris sent her to camp instead of her old apartment. She cleared away the curious thoughts from her mind and focused on the place where she was now; camp.
