Personality

The Apple doesn't fall far from the tree when it comes to Maeve and her parents. From her father, she gets her narcissistic streak, as well as her enjoyment of other people's pain - Though she has a far different method to his. She inherited his charm, but she uses it to lure people into a sense of security; Who would suspect a 16 year old after all? She also gets her enjoyment of causing trouble from her mother, using her sweet honeyed voice to convince people of certain things.

She seems far sweeter than both, but she has definitely gotten the vile nature from them. She wears her heart on her sleeve, but it just so happens to be dark. Maeve can come off as rude, but only if bothered. She's usually in her own little world, daydreaming or thinking about what to do next, so it's not unusual for people to generally be bothering her.

History

Just as his father was a chaotic, scheming, immoral and power hungry man, Isadore was none on the better course. But when he met Eris, the Goddess of strife and discord, he was none the wiser to her plans for him. Being the son of Bia, of course the Goddess was attracted to his aura. Eris and Bia had planned for Isadore’s future - Rather, they planned his way into the future. But one thing Eris was not planning was to have a physical connection to Isadore in the way of a child.

Isadore was sent in a deep slumber for years, but three months after that in 1810, Maeve was born into this world. Her birth was not a typical one - She was never meant to be, and now she had no place to go. Eris wasn’t going to raise the child, after all! It was all a bit of a panic for Eris, but even more so for the Moirai, who had already gotten their hands full with Isadore’s Fate. In all of the panic, Clotho didn’t even notice Maeve’s string connecting with Isadore’s. It wasn’t until after that Clotho had noticed - But after a bit of deliberation, it was decided that they would just leave it be, and play it off as the universe’s way of saying it was meant to be.

Eris felt something was off almost immediately, but in true Eris fashion, instead of actually doing something about it, she had decided on Maeve’s new home - A convent, far away from the home of her father. In England, an old church that is now laid to waste by nothing but time, Eris had set up a safe place for her daughter and her father. Guarded by Nymphs who were ordered to protect her and Isadore at all costs, Eris went to the Moirai to see what had happened.

The Moirai told her what happened - Their fate strings had gotten tied. Her fate was now tied to Isadore’s. She cannot die if he does not. They claimed she would still live to an old age, but would never feel the release of death for another 210 years. Eris grew distraught at this, and as a result, after berating the Moirai, who claimed it only a will of the universe, she sought a way for her daughter’s life to at least not be filled with despair.

Eris’ desire was answered by Hebe, who looked upon her with pity. The two agreed, Hebe would give Maeve the gift of youth - She would age slowly, her development being much slower than others. Every thirteen years would equal a year for Maeve, and that way, she would be of age when she’d meet her father for the first time, awakened from the deep slumber.

As a result of this, Eris would, of course, owe Hebe a favour, one to be returned at a later date. But at the point where it was returned is no longer when Eris was part of Maeve’s life.

Maeve was left with the Nymphs, with the body of a man she wouldn’t know for two hundred years in her basement. Really, it was where she’d spend most of her life until she was old enough to care for herself, which unfortunately for everyone, took a very long time. It was almost a hundred years before they decided she could be left alone for a few hours. As grudgingly annoying as it was for the Nymphs, it was hundred fold for Maeve.

Maeve was, physically, ten years old when she was let out for the first time. Their home was one of the oldest convents in the country, being one hundred and thirty years old. Nobody quite understood why there was a child living there. People had started to get nosy, and Bia was pleased to see that her granddaughter also managed to inherit the scheming nature of not only her grandparents, but her father as well.

She had decided to teach the local town a lesson when they had decided to treat her lower than them. Using her age as an advantage, Maeve lured one back to her home. The Nymphs, surprised but delighted by the action, had decided it was as good a time as ever to teach her how to start fighting. They gave her a dagger. They first taught her to kill, and how to slit a man’s throat. Then they taught her everything else.

She had her first monster attack at eleven, but she was luckily well prepared. The Hellhound hadn’t really stood much of a chance, now that she was getting the hang of her abilities as well. The rest of the attacks became easier and easier. It was fifty years worth of training to fight against the damned things, after all. She had even started using two daggers instead of one.

During this time, she also became a village legend - No one dared come near it, lest they anger the little demon. But it was one fateful eve that Bia had finally arrived to deliver her son where he was meant to be.

Meeting the Goddess Bia was a trip for Maeve, but seeing the person that was on a slab for over two hundred years, but having not aged once, sent her for even more of a loop. She knew the man was meant to be her father, though, and as a result, refused to leave his side.

Maeve followed the Goddess, who had taken Isadore to the edge of New Athens. Isadore had woken up, but Maeve stayed out of sight for the most part. She followed him to Liberi Superum. She had heard everything. How they explained what the Liberi was, what it's goal was, and even the possibilities that could come out of this. Maeve was intrigued, but even more when Isadora had decided to join. She followed him, joining right after. She swore her loyalty, being able to only imagine the results of this in her future.

Powers

Offensive[]

  1. Children of Eris have the ability to focus an intense beam of chaotic energy which will burn any organic matter it touches. Any inorganic matter it touches begins to slightly break, warp and disintegrate.
  2. Since Eris could be considered a war goddess, her children can decrease an opponent’s strength and combat abilities for a short time, leaving them vulnerable to attack.

Defensive[]

  1. Children of Eris have the ability to create a field of chaotic energy around them for a short time, which stuns anyone who steps inside of it and deflects attacks.
  2. Children of Eris can become resistant to all types of physical attacks for a short time.

Passive[]

  1. Children of Eris are innately stronger in times of battle or any other kind of chaos.
  2. Children of Eris emit an aura of chaos and discord, making people around them more likely to misbehave and start fights. They can shut it off for a long time if they wish.

Supplementary[]

  1. Children of Eris have the ability to force a state of confusion upon another person for a limited time, allowing the child of Eris to attack or flee freely.
  2. Children of Eris can create a short lived “storm of strife” which causes everything within it to change, warp, or break. The effects are random, but typically powerful and can stretch over a wide area depending upon the amount of energy put into it, the larger the field, the more energy it drains.
  3. Children of Eris have the ability to cause a group of people or animals to become irrational and fight amongst themselves for no reason for a short time. Which can give the user a chance to attack or flee.
  4. Since their mother was depicted as a winged goddess, children of Eris can sprout wings for a short time, this enables them to fly; the longer they maintain this state, the more energy it drains. They must rest between flights and cannot make long distance traveling without resting often. However the wings are vulnerable to injuries and magic; they can also be customized to the user’s preference.

3 Months After Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Eris can create a small explosion of chaotic energy at a range of about 12 meters, but the blast radius is only about 5 meters and it takes a few seconds to explode, during which the point of the explosion sparks and pops.

6 Months After Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Eris can use their powers over chaos to affect reality in an illogical way. For example, they can splash water on an opponent and cause severe burns and get hit with a hammer and it will just tickle. Only one aspect of reality can be thrown into chaos at a time and it will only be in effect for a short time. Afterwards, the user will be substantially drained. The power cannot be used so that it would cause severe damage, such as breathing or blinking would cause their brains to explode.

9 Months After Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Eris can draw power from all the chaotic actions and desires they’ve seen, felt, or committed in their lives and become an embodiment of chaos. This would make them more powerful, making them immune to all attacks, enhancing their physical prowess and power over chaos they previously possessed. This only lasts for a short time, after which the user will be so exhausted they’d lack the ability to even move for some time and could even faint.

Traits[]

  1. Children of Eris are often quick to cause arguments, misbehave and fights between others.
  2. Children of Eris are normally competitive and enjoy stirring up feelings of rivalry.
  3. Children of Eris sometimes have in interest in war and combat, especially the strife and bloodshed.
