| About two years before the birth of Camille Branwell, Harriet Branwell, her mother, was at a certain party in Tallahassee, Florida. She came there to meet her loving partner, James, only to be caught in the eyes of the summer god, Notus. She secretly got pregnant to him, but since Harriet and James were sexually active already, they thought he got her pregnant. So she's okay, as far as losing her social reputation. She went on with her life and got married some time after she gave birth to their "child", whom she named Ronald. Some time after that, she and James got into a heated argument because of women issues. Fed up, she fled Florida to Quebec, Canada; where she met Boreas during a heavy traffic due to a horrible blizzard.
After the date, Harriet broke every one of her morals and had a one night stand with Boreas, even worse, he impregnated her. Did she care? Of course! Being a proper, socialite, well-mannered, and reasonable was all she was, what would she say when she got back to London? Nothing. She couldn't possibly say anything, so she stayed in Quebec, and eventually met a man months before Camille'd be born. They later married. How lucky could this woman get?
She returned to London with a wonderful husband, a handsome son, and beautiful daughter, the perfect family, but of course, nothing gold can stay. Her husband thought of breaking up with him and take Camille along with him, and she threatened her of death, should she doesn't obey him. Unfortunately, their fight accidentally set off a fire. She thought that this would be the perfect chance to take Camille along with Ronald, with her. However, the suffocating smoke and blazing debris caused her to give up her search on Camille, and fled London with only Ronald in toll. Her husband was killed in the process. To the eyes of Camille, who also survived the fire, her family was dead.
She sought one of her friend's help, and she was able to leave England and start a new life at the small island country of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at the Caribbean. She's got enough cash, coming from her savings to live a refined but simple life at Kingstown, a city on the island. She eventually met and married a man yet again, named Darwin Brennan. Unbeknownst to Harriet, Darwin was a demigod son of Aeolus, who secretly kept an eye on Ronald.
Because of the fire and the traumatic effect of it, Ronald's body became frail and weak. He has been admitted to the hospital many times for his condition, and Harriet and Darwin thought he would die; however, his demigod essence kept him going through. He was a target at school for jokes and bullying because of his poor health and lousy physical appearance. Eventually, repeated torments caused him to develop dissociative identity disorder, which became his means of finding his "ideal" world. Every time he gets bedridden due to severe attacks of asthma, he would often paint disturbing still-life pictures, should he is not in so much pain.
As his childhood progressed, his disorder splintered his personality into many different "masks", trying to pull him away from his tormented life. His rebelling side wants him to break free from his parents' control, who were trying to pacify him and turn him into an ignorant person who doesn't know how to handle his own troubles, and live in solitude; while his doubtful side wants him to keep himself caged in his current state. Unable to make a concrete decision, he becomes derailed, causing his personality to splinter up even more. Taking up arms, he takes on a badass facade.
At age 13, he became a notorious juvenile delinquent in his middle school. He would cut classes, beat up either student or teacher who dares hinder his wants. Eventually, he gets attacked by two hellhounds on his way home late at night, only to be saved by Darwin. From there, he explained everything thoroughly, and told him that he would be trained secretly before going to Camp Half-Blood. Ronald showed disinterest during the first parts of his training, as he only got to fight with a wooden sword, but as soon as he was able to fight with a real sword, he became enthusiastic. Aside from that, he was also taught on using a bow and a knife, which sparked an idea inside him.
He became obsessed with his weapons that he accidentally slit Darwin's throat while practicing casual combat. Knowing his mother would be terribly embarrassed, devastated, and ashamed, all at the same time if she knew it was him, so Darwin fled the scene and left both swords by his body, took the precaution of wiping his fingerprints, then fled back into their house, paused, taking a moment to mask himself with a new persona, then went back outside and discovered his stepfather laying lifelessly on the ground, blood circling his head. He sobbed, and wailed, then went into the house to get the phone, dialing for the police. When they arrived, his mother did too, she took it a lot worse than he did.
The loss of another husband took a large toll on Harriet's mental health, eventually, she succumbed to depression, and wouldn't even leave her bed; she'd have to be reminded to eat most of the time, and if she didn't have the strength to get up, she wouldn't eat until Ronald would have to bring up food to her. As time went by, her psychological wounds healed, and she began living her life again, perhaps she developed a facade too.
Ronald had continued high school, and graduated. After graduation, he decided he'd take a break, his mind plagued with leftover exhaustion, fatigue, and window pain from having to take care of his mother. It wasn't easy, but he decided, after looking after her for some time, she'd understand that he'd need a break, so when Ronald went to her, asking if he could leave for Camp, she understood, and let him go.
Before Ronald departed for Camp, Harriet asked Ronald to keep an eye out for a blonde girl with eyes like diamonds. Apparently, they'd feel bonded on contact, however, Ronald doesn't expect to piece her cryptic message together until he sees her himself.
