So, there are taken models who have been marked inactive. I think we should make all character models who are inactive open for people to use again, whether or not the user allows it. Unless the image is privately owned by a user, I think it should be open to anyone who wants it. Since most character models are not privately owned by the user, people should be allowed to use the models once they become inactive. Since the user is inactive, a person is not able to ask them for permission to use it, so instead of asking, I think they should be open once declared completely inactive.
main issue is, we already CAN do that. like if a user is gone for 4 months, what you can do is simply IM them and ask to use their model. granted if they say no, you're screwed. BUT you're able to use the model while you wait for a reply and if the user goes past 6 months.
Besides what Hydro said, I want to clear up what you mean by inactive. Many people on the wiki carry the inactive status, but their levels of inactivity vary. Some users with the inactive status make edits every day and are, more or less, active. However, there are users that have been inactive for 4+ months, like the ones that Hydro mentioned. If you mean that all models owned by people with the inactive status are up for use, that isn't fair to the people with the "inactive" status who edit all the time. If you are referring to the very inactive people though, the rule that Hydro mentioned covers that.
ugh i'll never understand why some users even use the inactive status if they edit everyday. but anyway doggy raises a valid point, if someone goes officially inactive for like 2 months and all their models were swiped, it's pretty unfair :/
The reason we don't allow this and why you need to get their permission is to prevent that Hydro.
good, but can we close this debate now? seems pretty much settled~
