Earth Arena

Earth arena
  • This arena is surrounded by tall peaks and cliffs, moving towards the centre of the arena is a mostly dry sandy landscape, with lots of ruins, some even resemble an archaeological dig, with lots of places to hide in the shadows.
  • At the very centre of the arena is a lush oasis with a pond, palm trees and all sorts of vegetation.
  • The arena is open to the sky and elements
  • On each end of the arena, on top of some large pillars, are pyres, full of fire and wood. The fire that burns within the pyres can not be extinguished, but if the fire is removed from the pyres, it can then be put out.

Dirk trudges into the arena, his chained warhammers gripped tightly in each hand. With a beared and sutty face and a tall hulky frame, Dirk is a spitting image of his father Hephaestus. Looking around, Dirk decides to take his chances in the plateau and casually wanders over to what looks like an old archeological digsite.

Uriel: Sensing that his opponent has entered the arena, he decided to take the initiative and confront him. He makes his way over to the digsite, and hides behind a pillar. He takes out his wand, which to any other person would look like a regular old stick. To Uriel, however, it was his most prized possession. He sends a surge of magical energy through the wand, and red flowers begin to bud all over it. Uriel then points it at Dirk, still out of sight, and sends an array of petals at him. The petals circle Dirk until they catch fire and form a small vortex of flame around him.

Dirk: Not yet desiring to exhaust energy by using his powers, Dirk simply grips his two hammers by their hilts and raises them in the air. Assuming a wide stance, he then slams the hammers into the ground, creating a torrent of sand that envelopes and quickly dissipates the vortex of flames. Feeling the time is now ripe to exert some energy, Dirk sets down his hammers and creates a wall of stone around himself. He creates the wall with just enough space within it to allow him to grip and sufficiently wield his hammers.

Uriel: Sending another surge of energy through his wand, the flowers turn yellow and the petals unleashed from it glide low to the ground. The petals surround Dirk's wall, and phase through them, turning the wall to sand.

Dirk: Dirk is angered at how quickly his wall was dealt with but quickly finds an ace in the hole as he briefly spots Uriel behind the pillar. Gripping the chain of the hammer in his right hand, he steps back on his right foot and with all his might swings the hammer in the direction of the pillar. At first it appears the strike will fall woefully short, but the chain suddenly extends longer and longer until the hammer is within striking distance of the pillar and strike it does. The pillar is smashed into smithereens but before the hammer can continue its momentum toward Uriel, the chain suddenly retracts until it reaches Dirk upon which he grips it by the hilt once more.

Uriel: He keeps his calm demeanor about him, and crosses his arms. "Not bad," he says, "I'm Uriel! and I will be your opponent for today. Your name?" He let's his arms fall to his side, and grips his wand with his left hand. His right seems relaxed, however.

Dirk: "Dirk." He says roughly as he readies his next attack. Once again assuming a wide stance, Dirk raises his left arm and points the hammer at Uriel. As he grips the chain, it extends forward in a ferocious trajectory toward Uriel's face. But just as it seems about to reach it, Dirk feints. He suddenly retracts the chain and as it retracts back into the hammer, he pivots and performs a round house kick with his right leg toward his opponent and also swings his right arm forward. As he performs the roundhouse, a ball of fire jets out from his right foot and launches forward attempting to strike Uriel in the abdomen. At the same time, he extends the chain in the right hammer and swings the hammer attempting to catch Uriel in the face.

Uriel: He adjusts his stance, putting his left leg behind his right, and pointing the palms of his hands towards the incoming fireball. The fireball appears to engulf him at first, but as the hammer swings into the inferno, and back out, Uriel is no where to be found. Red petals dance around the flames, but then turn blue. As the hammer makes it's way back around, the fire is converted to water and catches the chains. Uriel's voice echoes, "πάγωμα" and the water freezes with the chains inside. Uriel, now visible and running towards Dirk, attempts to strike him with his dagger.

Dirk: Dirk quickly renders himself temporarily immune to physical attack and nullifies Uriel's attempted strike. He quickly sends heat down the chain and melts the ice before retracting the chain back into the hammer and placing the hammer on his back. Still immune to attacks, he reaches out his now free and attempts to grab the blade of Uriel's dagger. As he does so he begins releasing heat at a rapid rate from his hand in an attempt to temporarily prevent Uriel from wielding his dagger. Feeling his immunity slipping away, he then pivots and aims a roundhouse kick in an upward trajectory, attempting to kick Uriel in the face.

Uriel: Dirk's successfully disarms Uriel, and he is sent flying back against a pillar. In an effort to make time to from the attack, he places his hand on the earth, converting the area beneath Dirk into a whirlpool of sand. He then leaves the area to recover his exhausted energy.

Dirk: Dirk revels in succesfully disarming Uriel and forcing his retreat but his revelry is cut short as he quickly finds himself sinking into the sand. Thinking quickly, Dirk spots what appears to be the remnants of the entrance to a house in the form of two columns with a rectangular slab of rock horizontally connecting them. He desparately holds out both of his hammers and the chains extend and shoot out, wrapping both hammers around the rectangular slab. Using his enhanced strength, Dirk is able to drag himself out of the sand trap and glances back gleefully as he watches the disarmed dagger sink into the sand. Once on solid ground, he retracts the chains and awaits Uriel's next move.

Uriel: He makes his way back out to the oasis at the center of the arena and takes time to recover some of his energy. He sits, figuring his next plan of attack. He glances at the pool of water, and an idea pops into his head. Once he recovers enough energy, he heads back to the archaeological site, to draw out his opponent. As he lays eyes on him, he begins to provoke Dirk. "Hey dummy! My grandma could swing that hammer harder than you!"

Dirk: Dirk is completely unfazed by this foolish display of buffoonery by his opponent but decides to take the fight to him regardless. He begins charging toward the Oasis but pauses upon catching sight of the pool of water. Deeming the seemingly harmless body of liquid both a possible trap and manipulatable surrounding, Dirk decides to remain on his side of the water and simply sets his left hammer on his back and uses his free hand to launch a small sized fireball at Uriel to try and lure him to the water.

Uriel: Instead of trying to dodge the fireball, he let's it hit him right in his palm. Through this, he converts the fireball into magic energy, allowing him the manipulate another element. He wades into the water and commands it to surround Dirk, and then begins the second conversion of water to ice.

Dirk: Dirk grimaces as he is surrounded by water that is slowly freezing around him. Soon he is frozen in place but he has managed to keep his left palm held open and he is gradually able to generate heat from his palm that slowly melts the ice and before long the water has settled back into place in regular liquid form. However, Dirk knows his business with the pool has not yet concluded. Dirk fixes a steely glare at his opponent and then forms a wall of earth that confines the both of them within the section of the water. He then places both palms on the surface of the water and begins to rapidly heat it to scintillating degrees. As a child of Hephaestus he has an innate resistance to heat of all forms and so he decides to put this magic wielding Hecate child's fortitude to the test. Glands of sweat start forming on his face but he continues to heat up the entrapped body of water.

Uriel: With the heat rising in the kitchen, he decides it's time for him to leave. He launches himself onto the top of the rock wall by creating a spout of water underneath him. Of course, he is scalded from the water being so hot, but he can still fight. Once again, he absorbs the magic energy from the rock wall beneath him, and converts it to sand. The walls, now sand, begin to cave inward onto Dirk. With the last bout of energy he has, he Conjurers up his dagger to confront Dirk with hand-to-hand combat if necessary.

Dirk: Dirk finds himself surrounded by sand but the multitude of sand is little more than a hinderance as Dirk wrests his way out of it and gets on his feet. Taking his hammers back off his back, he gives them a slight swing and prepares to hopefully engage his opponent in some old fashioned mano e mano action.

Uriel: He rushes towards Dirk, dagger in hand, in an attempt to strike first. What he lacks for in physical strength, he makes up for with speed and precision. He bobs in and out of range, gaining and breaking the measure. His attempted strikes are quick and do not linger.

Dirk: Uriel's first strike notches a deep cut in his forearm but Dirk quickly renders himself immune to physical attack once more. He then creates a smokescreen in an attempt to severely limit Uriel's vision and hamper his movements. His trap laid, Dirk raises his hammers and unleashes an assault of unmitigated fury upon his opponent, attempting to almost literally smash his opponent to smithereens.

Uriel: While he was initially stunned by the smokescreen, and rendered visionless, he was able to retreat and break the measure, avoiding the first few strikes by mere inches. Dirk's onslaught continues as he closes the gap between the two of them. Uriel grips his dagger once more trying his best to deflect the incoming attacks. He attempts a lunge when he believes he has an opening.

Dirk: Uriel's dagger plunges into Dirk's chest before he can deflect or dodge it and Dirk cries out in pain. Despite his high levels of strength and endurance he knows he cannot keep fighting in this state especially knowing how much energy he has exhausted. Dirk desparately throws both of his hammers at Uriel and then creates another smokescreen to cover his retreat as he doggedly runs back toward the archaeological site. Having retreated he is able to buy some time to restore some energy and cauterize the wound in his chest. Deciding he wants to attempt another attack but in no fit state to advance on Uriel, Dirk decides to use the last vestiges of energy he has and unleash the last weapon in his arsenal. His eyes fall upon an old statue of a warrior about 1.5 times his size. Summoning his energy, he animates the statue and wordlessly directs it to attack Uriel. His energy now spent, Dirk takes a knee in exhaustion.
