Offensive[]
- Children of Hades can create and launch long shards of obsidian from their palms.
- Children of Hades can create small fissures in the ground which spew plumes of hellfire for a few moments before closing. The hellfire is more powerful than normal fire, but can also harm the user, so this power must be used carefully.
Defensive[]
- Children of Hades have the ability to create a dome of hardened earth and gemstones, roughly two or three times the size of the user, which can be used to block attacks for a short time.
- Children of Hades can conjure a set of very durable bone armor around themselves which grants enhanced protection against physical attacks. After a time, the armor grows brittle and falls off the user’s body.
Passive[]
- Children of Hades are able to communicate with and command the dead, and are able to sense spirits or other undead beings.
- Children of Hades are able to communicate with and command hellhounds they encounter.
- Children of Hades can sense when a mortal, half-blood, nymph/spirit that they know has died through a "buzzing" in their ears.
- Children of Hades are able to instantly destroy undead in a single attack.
Supplementary[]
- Children of Hades have the ability to Shadow Travel, to teleport from shadow to shadow; the further the distance, the more energy drained.
- Children of Hades have a heightened control over undead and can usurp dominance from others who control undead who aren’t also children of Hades.
- Children of Hades can telekinetically shape and control dead matter. The more matter moved, the more the user is drained.
- Children of Hades can perform rites to summon a specific ghost from the underworld for a time, using offerings of their choice. The more offerings given and the more specific they are to the intended ghost, the more likely they are to appear. Ghosts that have been granted reincarnation, or are trapped Tartarus or the Fields of Punishment, cannot be summoned.
- Children of Hades can bend shadows around them, concealing them for a short time.
3 Months After Character is Made[]
- Children of Hades are able to summon skeletal/zombie humanoids/animals to do their bidding. The more animals summoned and the bigger they are, the more energy is drained. Any armor/weaponry the undead possess increases the strain of the summoning. The undead can then be commanded telepathically their summoner. The longer they are summoned, the more the summoner is drained of their energy.
6 Months After Character is Made[]
- Children of Hades are to project their consciousness into any undead minion they command, taking direct control of their senses, movements and actions. However, their own body is left vulnerable for the duration.
9 Months After Character is Made[]
- Children of Hades are capable of entering into a contract with a willing soul, either prior to their death or after meeting them as a ghost. Once a contract is made, the user gains the ability to summon the spirit into an undead recreation of its former body, formed from the earth, to fight alongside them for a time. The undead would retain all of the skills and physical abilities they had in life, including weaker versions of any special powers. When the summoning ends, or the spirit's summoned body is destroyed, the user is left heavily drained and could possibly faint. Only one contract can be held at a time.
Traits[]
- Children of Hades have innate knowledge of the Underworld, able to guide themselves and allies to how to enter,explore and escape the Underworld. (as long as they aren’t already dead)
- Children of Hades tend to have dark attitudes and appreciate shadowy places.
- Children of Hades typically have an appreciation for the earth, feeling more comfortable on the ground rather than being in the sky or the sea.
- Children of Hades often grow up to make great morticians.
Generation upon generation, the Rockefeller fortune grew in size and legend. In a 140-year dynasty, the family has been the epicenter of conspiracy theories about the new world order and various other things along with four other Families - the Morgans, the DuPonts, the Rothschilds and the Bushes. People didn’t realise that all of the families had another very specific tie into one another: The first great generation were all Demigods. It’s lost to the ages what gods they were, but it’s rumoured that they were all gods and goddesses of fortune, luck, or both. For John D Rockefeller, he fell to Tyche, the Greek Goddess of luck and fortune.
Tyche was a beautiful woman who promised John the world - And her to go with it. Even though John tells everybody John jr was the son of him and Laura, his beloved wife, the truth was far more complicated - John jr was a Demigod, and the entire family could thank Tyche for the luck and fortune the Rockefellers have since gathered.
Not only in business, but also in marriage and life, the Rockefellers always seemed very lucky, to nobody’s surprise. Through five generations, they’ve only grown in power and fortune. John D Rockefeller IV gave birth to four children, John the Fifth, Valerie, Charles, and Justin. Valerie Rockefeller married James Carnegie in 2000, but despite seeming happy at first, the couple quickly divorced.
The Divorce was a secret - Nobody knew the reasons for it, truly, other than them. The truth was a lot more than what they could tell anyone anyways. Valerie had met another man; A charismatic and alluring man by the name of Ryan. Valerie was a teacher by trade, but often made herself public, for her family’s sake. When she was at a charity event, he introduced himself, and the night went on unplanned; Ryan left her the next morning, and Valerie freaked. She told James, who agreed they would work it out; That was, until, she realised that she grew pregnant.
James agreed to stay with her until the child was born. On May 14th, 2001, Freddie was born. Valerie was served divorce papers on the hospital bed. The two were divorced, and Freddie was never given a father on the birth certificate; He was just very simply, Freddie Rockefeller, the first child of Valerie Rockefeller. Also the one nobody knew much about.
Valerie remarried when Freddie was three years of age, and as far as anyone is concerned, Freddie was just her child from her first marriage. She went on to have two more children with her second husband. Freddie’s half siblings, Percy and Lucy Wayne. Freddie was never really spoken of growing up. While the girls got everything they wished for, Freddie never truly had to ‘ask’ for anything, except for a bit more attention. But when something had arrived for Valerie, related to Freddie, she gave him a pin that resembles a three-headed dog. But, she would never say where it came from - “You’ll find out when you’re older, Dear. But not now. Not yet…”
Freddie never really fit in with the other kids growing up. He was always sort of obsessed with macabre things, and instead of playing with the other children, would be seen in the shadier spots of the playground, often with a toy or a book - Not that he could read very well. He was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia at the ripe young age of 6 years old. But nonetheless, he was overall, a very well rounded child. Despite being very different, he also loved his family.
On a cold winter night in 2010, Freddie, who showed a great dislike for planes, would ask to be left behind during his mother’s annual trip to the charity event, the same one where she met his father, unbeknownst to him. His mother relented, leaving him and a babysitter, who was being payed very well, behind. It wasn’t even a day later where all hell broke loose for the child. A woman knocked on their door, young and seemingly harmless. Freddie, seeing her through the windows, would be the one to answer the door. A small conversation, and Freddie called out to his babysitter as he let the woman in.
It was a miracle that his babysitter got there as soon as he did. Any second later, and he’d have found Freddie cold on the floor with a snakily-clad woman over him. But he sprang into action, pushing the Scythian Dracanae away and pushing Freddie behind - The Babysitter, revealing himself as a creature that Freddie could only describe as ‘half-goat’ would look at him and yell; Go get the pin.
Somehow, Freddie knew exactly what he was talking about, and he ran to his room to grab the pin that resembled a three-headed dog. It buzzed for a moment as he ran into the foyer, and before his eyes, it turned into an axe. Freddie freaked out for a moment, but was shaken out of it when his sitter, the satyr, took the axe, and fought off the Scythian Dracanae. Freddie heard struggling for a minute or so, but he didn’t quite see the actions. As far as Freddie could tell, he outsmarted whatever the creature was, and killed it on the spot. Almost as a reaction, Freddie hid in the corner, and his vision was covered in darkness. He continued to freak out, until finally, his sitter calmed him down, and explained the situation.
Freddie learned everything that night, from how he was a child of Hades, to how he was supposed to be going to camp now. All of this was explained once more to Valerie when she came back from the charity event. But, it seemed unnecessary. Valerie grabbed the note, which she kept on hand for years, and showed it to the Satyr and Demigod.
It had been a note from Hades himself, describing the situation; When Freddie turned of age, he was going to be hunted. He would need to protect himself. Hades described the pin, what it does, and what it was meant for. Hades also apologized, not knowing that their one night stand would result in a child - How she was never supposed to find out he was a God.
Freddie’s mother explained that she did not know his heritage, and that she’s spent years trying to understand, and trying to believe what he had said, and she even had doubts. But, seeing everything, the Satyr, the creature, it was hard not to believe. She also agreed to keep it a secret, and to send Freddie to the camp for the summer, and for the remaining summers after that.
Over the years, they agreed to keep the Satyr around for protection when he stayed at home - And in the summers, he’d be sent to camp. Freddie would be training for the entire time, to the point where he was pretty good with his axe, to the point where he would be able to protect himself and his family - Though it took over seven years for him to be comfortable enough to consider himself able to protect anyone. At that point he had already grown up to the point where he was almost able to leave home. Eventually, he brought up the idea of moving to his mother. Though she seemed fairly against it, she decided eventually that when he was 18, he’d be able to do what he wants.
When Freddie turned 18, he moved to the town near the Camp, New Athens.
