Yang Jae-Woo was the best crime syndicate in all of Seoul, a ruthless man with hardly any time for a social life, despite most his age having a healthy one. Being 21 and already a major crime boss, he was admired by many men and women in the industry, all hoping to get close to him - to his money. One night, a foreign woman by the name of Indica attracted the attention of Jae-Woo and one thing led to another and Indica left impregnated. Jae-Woo was never planning on being a father and he told himself it was a sick lie ever since Indica showed up at his door on the 19th January 1995 and handed him his daughter. He continued to believe this for the next five months. Jae-Woo named his daughter Hyo-Seo after his deceased mother.
As the years went by Jae-Woo began to dote on Hyo-Seo and made a personal promise to her to get rid of anyone who mistreated her. When Hyo-Seo was 4, Jae-Woo was given another child by the name of Yong-Geon. With his influence in the city quickly declining due to having two kids at 24, Jae-Woo moved to Tokyo in hopes to create a new life for him and his children. There, he kept his name but changed his children's name from Hyo-Seo to Ikumi and Yong-Geon to Hiroki.
Growing up in Japan Hyo-Seo excelled, being particularly good at languages. At the age of 6 she was scouted by an entertainment agency who aimed to make her into a J-Pop star, however, Jae-Woo was against it, stating academics were more in her interests. A natural talent of hers was lying in the most believable ways and deceiving people into doing things she wanted or doing things the way in which she intended them to be.
When Hyo-Seo was 10 those after her father had began to catch up with them, causing Jae-Woo to transfer them yet again. This time however he moved them to California. There, Hyo-Seo took the name Gabrielle and Yong-Geon became Eden. The two of them quickly learnt the language, so much so that Gabrielle began to be entered into spelling bees.
Unlike most demigods, Gabrielle had her first attack at 12 due to her brother, Eden, also having godly heritage. The monster itself was Orthrus who attacked when Gabrielle was on a family trip to New York. As it attacked, it aimed for Gabrielle more than Eden and as such, Jae-Woo attempted to save her. Luckily for her, a group of demigods who were finishing a quest were close and took the monster on, leaving the Yang family to escape. When they reached their home in San Francisco.
After the attack Jae-Woo forced his children to train using swords he had obtained through robberies in his crime days. Gabrielle found the use of swords easy to some extent whereas Eden struggled slightly. In under a year the two were at the ability to defend themselves against basic monsters such as hellhounds and harpies. Over the next five years Gabrielle experienced a good amount of attacks, each overcome with her sword or the odd rouge demigod who'd help her. Life seemed to be going easy for the demigod when her 18th birthday rolled into sight.
On her 18th birthday, Gabrielle came home to find her father in cold blood in their kitchen. A note, explaining his past was beside his body. Horrified and scared, Gabrielle packed essentials such as food, clothes and other daily needs into a large suitcase and waited for Eden to get home. When he arrived she told him that they were leaving their home. Confused but went along with it, Eden joined his sister as they became homeless. The first few months were rough, realising that if they were to get split up it could remain that way forever and the fact they couldn't handle it, the Yang siblings kept themselves low. After a year of no school and living on the streets, Apate appeared to Gabrielle in a dream and told her of a Camp in which Gabrielle sought, using her last large amount of money to get them to said Camp where they were claimed by their respective mothers.
