Welcome to the Camp Half-Blood Roleplaying Wiki! No doubt you have many questions. Never fear! There's a distinct possibility that reading this guide carefully will answer any and all questions you have. However, if it doesn't, please feel free to contact a member of the our administration team.

Below you will find helpful information on the process of joining, getting claimed and participating on this wiki. Each tab holds important information that will help guide you through your experience here.

Godsgods

If you don't have a Fandom account yet, you'll need one. To do that, go to the top right, under the icon that looks like a person, and click 'register'. Then, fill out the form presented. Keep in mind, your username does not need to be and shouldn't be the name of your character. It shouldn't include any personal information either. Instead, try to come up with something interesting, or use a username you use for a different service, such as e-mail. When you are registered, move on to the next step. Also, DO remember your username and password to prevent further problems with your account and wiki activities.

There are other wiki's that allow "anons" to edit, an anon being someone who doesn't have an official account so instead their edits are tracked by their IP address. However, on this wiki, due to the way our policies work, we require anyone who wishes to join to have an account and be signed in. This way we are better able to track users and their characters.

NOTE: To edit this list go here.

Like all sites and organizations, there are rules that must be followed. Our wiki is run a bit differently from other encyclopaedia or fan-fiction type wikis and as such there may be rules you've never come across before. It is in your best interest to at least review our policies. A list can be found here. As there are quite a few policies to expect you to read and remember them all straight away is entirely unreasonable. However, you should at least browse through them. Don't worry we aren't unforgiving here! We have a warning system, and depending on the rule broken you will almost always have a verbal warning first before being issued official warnings.

Don't freak out or panic if you receive a verbal warning, or even a first official warning. Everyone makes mistakes, it's how we learn. Many of us have some friends on the wiki who had rocky starts, received some warnings early on, but have been here months now and are active, responsible, and helpful members of our community now.

Next is getting your character claimed. Claiming on this wiki is the process in which the character is approved for creation. Whether your character is a major character (what we consider demigods to be) or a minor character (pretty much anything that isn't a demigod, like satyrs, nymphs, etc) they must go through claiming. Our reason for this is to ensure uniformity and fairness across the wiki. This way powers are uniform, there aren't any OP (overpowered) characters, unfair story lines (someone trying to have their character raised by the god parent, which is directly stated in the PJO books to be not allowed), absurd story lines (one time there was a claim where an infant child was raised by cats) or crossing other genres and fictional lores with this one (one time a user tried to have a character that went to both Camp Half-Blood and Hogwarts >.>).

Most users joining here are familiar with the Percy Jackson Books, whether they be the main original series (Heroes of Olympus) or the spin-off Roman camp (Lost Hero). A few key points to remember while heading into making your character:

  1. Greek vs Roman
    1. Despite that it is recognized that there are other gods out there, Greek, Norse, Egyptian, etc; here at this camp there are only Greek demigods, no Roman, no Norse, or any other mythos there is out there. We're working on Roman implementation, but we're not quite there yet!
    2. No Imperial Gold weapons. Still working on that too!
    3. If you have your character related to other gods in their past (for instance their father is Eros and their grandmother is Athena), that's fine, but it in no way gives special powers or advantages. They would only have powers their directly godly parent possesses. This is to ensure a uniform power base on the wiki so there are no unfair advantages.
  2. Weapons
    1. Stygian Iron is allowed as a weapon, but only for certain gods with association to the underworld. The work the same effectively as Celestial Bronze. The only special metal is Adamantine, but that is reserved specifically for admin characters/large storyline use and in rare rare cases, not for regular campers to use.
    2. Modern Weapons. Before you ask, yes there were guns in the books with celestial bronze bullets, and if you want it in your back story that's fine, HOWEVER no modern weapons will not be allowed at camp. This is another measure to ensure that powers remain fair and even.
  3. Age
  4. The current youngest age allowed is 9, for those who are younger to have a wider character range. In general though, most on the wiki prefer roleplaying characters between the ages of 15 and 21, so it would be very hard to find a niche to RP in if you have say, a 7 year old character, they won't really have anyone to realistically interact with, just a bunch of older kids.
  5. Monster Attacks
    1. An untrained demigod cannot realistically survive a multitude of monster attacks. It's unreasonable. Tf they had help, that's different, but not on their own. These monsters, while not smart, have been respawning for millennia, and have fought many a foe. They won't be deterred by loud noises or non-lethal weaponry, or an 11-year-old who doesn't know how to swing a heavy bronze sword properly.
    2. A child of Zeus, Poseidon or Hades should have at least one monster attack no later than the age of 11. All other demigods should have at least one monster attack no later than the age of 13. Now remember, just because they've narrowly avoided an attack doesn't mean they have to go directly to camp.
  6. Setting
    1. Now as far as the setting goes, we assume the events in the books happened 20 years prior to the present day. There are no canonical characters at Camp.
    1. First and foremost we follow the PJO books for how life is. The books presented the setting as present day more or less, so for the ease of everyone involved, we imagine that everything in life is true as we know it, with the exception of Greek gods being real and monsters and a camp to learn to fight it all. Biden is President, Prince William has a child, the current season at camp is the same as in the US right now, etc etc etc. So saying a 2 year old survived for 10 years on the streets is absurd and unrealistic, America uses group homes and foster care not orphanages, Harry Potter does not exist here, nor does Darth Vader. This may seem obvious to some, but we do get users asking for similar things in their character's backstories.

What a claim looks like:

  1. Name: <must be reasonable and cannot be blatantly off someone famous (i.e. Harrison Ford, Justin Bieber), cannot be the name of a PJO character (i.e. Percy Jackson) and should not be the main character of other popular series (i.e. Harry Potter, Katniss Everdeen, etc)>
  2. God Parent: <Choose whichever parent you'd like. for Camp purposes, only use the provided cabin gods!>
  3. Current Age: <the age they are right now>
  4. Appearance: <what they look like or an image of what they look like (suggested but not needed)>
  5. Personality: <Now some claim checkers are sticklers about checking this when they check claims, but generally this is just to show that you have put some thought into how you will be roleplaying your character on the wiki. They should be a character, not just an idea!>
  6. History: <Here's the biggest more important part of claiming. This should include: how the parents met and fell in love, the character being born, their early childhood, their first (and any subsequent) monster attack before getting to camp, and how they came to know about/get to camp. This should be an absolute minimum of 2 paragraphs.>
  7. Possessions/Weapons: <You can add this, but it is no longer needed in a claim. If you do add it, really its just to make sure that no one tries to get anything OP (overpowered) or OTT (over the top, aka absurd or unrealistic) for their character. (for instance a weapon that is charmed to never miss would be OP, an amulet that grants a child of Eros the power to shadow travel would be OP). Also, if you have your character using it in their claim to defeat a monster, make sure to put where your character got it! Celestial Bronze is rare, and doesn't just fall out of the sky (unless a god wanted it to...)>
  8. Signing Your Claim: Don't forget to put your signature at the end! (you can do that by clicking the signature button, or by typing ~~~~. That way, we can identify you more clearly.

For all the specifics, check out the example claim here.

This instructional video is outdated, but we'll be making a new one sometime soon!

Once you have completed your claim and hit submit, keep an eye on it! mMembers of the administration team will check it periodically and make any necessary notes or questions if anything is unclear, breaks rules or needs to be changed. Please, please please, I can't express enough, please, be patient with us. No one on the administration team gets paid to work here, this is all voluntary, we all have lives and things to do outside the internet. Many of us are students, some work, and most are generally busy people. Someone will get to your claim soon as possible, but because both the wiki and our lives can be very busy places, sometimes the claiming process can take anywhere from 1-5 days.

The claiming forum can be found, click this link.....

After your claim is accepted, you should start on a page for your character. To do so, simply type the name of your character into the box below and click "create". For the Article title, put in the name of your character. If you spell it incorrectly or do something wrong, fear not, it can be corrected, on wiki there is no such thing as a permanent mistake. Keep in mind the first time you make the page it doesn't have to be pretty or coded or have fancy html, sometimes it's quicker to just copy/paste the information from your claim and get the page itself up, before exploring the world of html.

<createbox> width=30 break=yes buttonlabel=Create a New Character preload=Template:Character </createbox>

(The following instructions are credited to User:Mr.Mikachu from his blog, Coding 101)

As far as fancy stuff like coding and html and word bubbles, keep reading.

The Basics

First of all, let's establish something important; CODING LOOKS DIFFERENT ON EVERY BROWSER. For example, you might have orange headers and a green background on Chrome but, when you look at Firefox, you might have grey headers and a green background. It's important to change both of the gradients

-webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, color-stop(0, #2473BA), color-stop(1, #004188)); background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(top, #2473BA 0%, #004188 100%);

so your coding doesn't look messed up in a different browser.

ALSO READ THIS!! DO NOT EVER STEAL/USE/TWEAK ANYBODY'S CODING WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION!! ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO POLICY AGAINST IT, I WILL REVERT IT BACK TO THE DEFAULT VERSION IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION!!

DIV

Let's start with the basics. If you're a starter, you probably will notice <div style= and </div>s. THESE ARE IMPORTANT!! DO NOT DELETE ANY OF THESE UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!! Every <div style=" matches with a </div> so if you want to delete something, remember to delete the </div> as well.

TABLE

Same goes with and s.

Please remember, everything that was in your claim should be on your character page. If we find a blank page with no history, it will be tagged and you will be asked to fix it. Coding may be fancy and pretty, but if you don't have a clue what you are doing, it is better to have a plain page or to ask someone else to help you make your page pretty, then to end up with a poorly coded page with lots of broken coding. Just remember, pretty/fancy html is optional and not required, at the end of the day it's better that your page be legible than have bright colours.

When looking throughout the world wide web for an image or model to represent your character please keep in mind a few things. Make sure the image isn't of a character of a popular series or a well known person, and that no other users are using the same picture/model as you are. You should also never use an image of yourself - it's against our policies as well as dangerous, as unsavory individuals might be able to trace it back to you. However, mistakes will happen, we are a large active wiki with lots of users and even more characters so keeping track of who's using who isn't easy. Don't panic if you make a mistake with the model you chose, it isn't something that can get you banned unless you are belligerent or rude about changing it. Make sure to name the images something simple you can remember, and that they are in .jpg/.jpeg, .png or .gif formats. Then, come back to the wiki, and on the right, click "Upload Image" and chose the image you just saved. Be sure to remember the name and the format of the image in order to insert them into your character page and your word bubble.

If you are not sure on what images to use, do visit these pages:

  • Image Policy
  • Image Voting Panel (where images go if users think a model is too recognisable and call for a vote to decide)
  • Images up for Grabs (images no longer in use and are free to be taken/used by anyone)
  • Model Listing (A list of all the characters on the wiki and their current images and model being used, if there is a model name versus a random image)

Now comes the fun part, the roleplaying! Now, this is less of a traditional roleplay set-up than other places, and most roleplays take place character-to-character, on the characters' pages, like you have made, in the comment section. When you first get your page set-up, people will soon comment on your character, welcoming you and starting roleplays. If you would like to reply, click "reply" next to their comment, and insert your word bubble. You've just started your first roleplay! As you move further on, you will also notice location pages, forums, quests/missions and campaigns to roleplay in. They work in a similar fashion. Remember, the Admins are always here to help you out. If you would like to socialize with other people or ask any questions, join chat, which is at the top-right side of your screen. Now, have fun and enjoy your stay at our wiki!

Some Important Rules/Links:

  1. Camp Half-Blood Role Playing Wiki:God Modding Policy
  2. Camp Half-Blood Role Playing Wiki:Role Play Policy

Some Other places to RP Besides your Character's Page:

  1. Locations (Please remember if you have a camp character you may not freely rp on Broken Covenant pages and likewise if you have a Broken Covenant character you may not freely rp on Camp pages)
  2. Roleplay Forum

<chat />

Chat is a place for users to chat out of character about every day events, life, interests and even to keep track of who has posted on roleplays. We have a very low tolerance for trolls and bullies. Chat is for our members of the wiki or users genuinely working towards joining our wiki and becoming a member.

Things our chat is NOT to be used for:

  1. Please restrain from giving out personal information in chat, your age, address, last name are an idea of some things you shouldn't give out. Now if you are comfortable telling someone your age, that's fine, but I'd suggest never under any circumstances giving out last name and address (though country rarely narrows location down enough to be risky, I'm sure there's more than one "Susan" in America)
  2. Chat is not for bullying, if you don't like someone, or don't agree with something they've said, our Discord is not the place to express that. As the great all-knowing Thumper said in Bambi, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".
  3. No yelling in chat, yelling in chat LOOKS LIKE THIS AND ALL CAPS BASICALLY IS CHAT SPEAK FOR I'M YELLING RIGHT NOW. Small bursts of excitement may be overlooked, but too much of it will get you a warning.
  4. No spamming (repeatedly saying the same thing over and over again or pasting nonsense and gibberish).
  5. If you repeatedly enter chat without having produced a claim or any proof that you are genuinely here to join our wiki, you will eventually be kicked and won't be allowed back into chat until you have produced a claim. This may seem harsh, but this wiki's Discord is for our members, former users, and genuine users applying to become members.

Please read our chat policies, and if you have any questions just ask.

If you still feel a bit lost or have questions that weren't answered, please don't hesitate to contact either a member of our administration team or anyone of our active users who have been around and know the ropes. There is also a help desk where you can ask questions. We hope you enjoy your stay!
