Born on 13 October, 2002 to a mortal woman, Katerina Bentley, and God of the Underworld, Hades. Katerina and Hades had a short-lived affair, one that Katerina would call passionate. Katerina in a few words is a rather peculiar woman, she has the Sight which rendered her the sight to know who Hades was; this however, didn’t keep her away from the God, Hades. In fact, before she break it off, Katerina got pregnant with her first and only child, but during one of their meetings of which Hades never showed up for. Katerina vowed then to raise her daughter to know what she truly was. Gypsy grew up as a ‘not so loved’ child, given more of a tough lough kind of treatment than what a parent would normally give a child. From a young age, Gypsy was revealed that her father wasn’t normal, and neither was she. Nearing the age of five, the mother and daughter had to pack up leave their hometown of Toronto, Canada; they then moved to Manhattan, New York.
The two were trouble-free for a good while maybe until Gypsy turned the age of nine, from there Katerina and her daughter were asleep one night when the hellhounds attacked. Before she sends Gypsy off to Long Island, with a pouch of cash and a pair of daggers that had been given to her by Hades. In order to save her daughter, Katerina sacrifices herself setting the house ablaze with herself in it.
Gypsy doesn’t find herself at camp for a good while, nearly two weeks. She spent her time struggling to even find her way there, with several minor beast attacks on the way. Luckily, she figures out at least how to wield the daggers her mother gave to her before her untimely death. Along the way she is met by a young boy, revealed to be a young satyr named Lyion. The two weren’t the most compatible, arguing quite a bit actually, mostly about the fact that Gypsy had a knack for finding trouble so easily. The two eventually make it to the borders of Camp Half-Blood where they are met by two harpies, Gypsy is lucky in dispelling one and Lyion the other. When they enter Camp Half-Blood, Gypsy isn’t claimed until three days later, she is housed into the Hermes cabin due to not yet being claimed. On the day of her tenth birthday, only three days after she’s arrived at Half-Blood Hill, she is claimed by Hades as one of his kids. From there she is moved into Hades cabin. After the summer ends she chooses to become a part-time camper, with the goal of hunting down the entrance to the Underworld. She packs up and leaves the camp, heading to the last place of the known entrance to the Underworld was, Los Angeles. After nearly a week of traveling on trains and buses, she encounters her second attack; this time with more harpies. Gypsy struggles to fight both up until her satyr friend shows up. They briefly argue that Gypsy shouldn’t have left camp, she argues that she was free to do as she pleased. Lyion mumbles something about how the kids of the Big Three always think they can do what they want. The two then proceed to fight off the harpies, Gypsy send one of her daggers flying at one, killing it. With the help of Jorge, she also kills the second one. Afterwards she reluctantly agrees to go back to Camp Half-Blood but not until the next summer. From there she learns how to better fight, with weapons she’s accustomed too.
After she turned eleven, not even a week after her birthday, she decides to once more to reach Los Angeles, where the Underworld portal resides. However, just as she leaves the border of Camp Half-Blood, Lyion finally catches up with her stating that it wasn’t safe for her out of the camp. Gypsy ignores his response to her leaving. Shortly after, the bellow of an animal catches both of their attention. A Minotaur. Both Gypsy and Jorge are able to find weapons just in time before beginning the fight in which they both kill the Minotaur but Gypsy gathers minor scrapes and cuts from it. Lyion is however killed.
The next year at age twelve, she ends up fighting a chimera. She takes this creature down by herself. At age thirteen, she ends up facing a Myrmekes. It takes her a bit but she ends up taking it down as well. After this, she meets a new demigod at the camp, by the name of Margot. The two become best-friends over time and at age fourteen she and Margot end up fighting a fire-breathing horse of which they easily defeat. At fifteen she ends up facing two hellhounds, alone. After several injuries she is able to defeat, Margot however states that she's departing for college and won't be coming back. Several days after this, Gypsy turns sixteen and then becomes a full-time camper.
